What Are Things You've Heard That Made You Facepalm?
ChrisSpace replied to michaelsteele3's topic in The Lounge
Some kids at some school were debating whether the earth is 5000 or 6000 years old. Also, one of my subscribed youtubers thought it was permanently nighttime on the duck side of the moon. -
I think I might do a small alternate history thing soon-ish, based on the concept of a late 19th century space program. My 'Point of Divergence' in the timeline is between the years 1500-1600CE (roughly between the planet's names becoming official in English, and the invention of the telescope), when a hyper advanced alien civilization arrives in the inner solar system, and spends 100 years terraforming Mercury, Venus, the Moon, Mars, Ceres, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto and Titan, as well as several planets around nearby stars, then seed hem with a combination of earth and non-earth plants and animals, before leaving the solar system forever so they themselves are never seen. Why they just left us alone and how the planets remain habitable, I probably won't explain. But what follows is a vastly expanded space era in which space colonization becomes real before rockets even leave Earth's atmosphere in our timeline. It may be a bit Europe-centric due to the geopolitical situation at the time, but that should be fine. Do you like the idea of me doing this?

I killed Jeb once, then brought him back to life. You can watch my youtube videos to see exactly what happened.

Fun Fact: Sudan has more pyramids than Egypt

What are the weirdest dreams you've had?
ChrisSpace replied to windows_x_seven's topic in The Lounge
I have recorded my dreams for about 2 years now, by now I have almost 70 written down. -
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to xenomorph555 again.

Ummm... Okay... Fun Fact: Due to foreign investments *cough*china*cough*, statistics show that conversations about house prices in Australia have gone up 50% over the last 12 months.

It's confirmed, China's going to the Lunar farside!
ChrisSpace replied to xenomorph555's topic in Science & Spaceflight
-MIR is joining the battle- Also unmanned mission, not manned. 'You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to xenomorph555 again.' Ah dammit. -

Wait, manned mission to the far side of the moon? - insert iron sky reference here - -

- Pulls up calculator - So that means: Third last panel (all alone): January 22, 2010 Second last panel (first human visitors): March 17, 2044 Last panel (in the dome): June 5, 2102 Kinda realistic timing, surprisingly.

I looked up the error and it said it is often caused by my RAM beginning to corrupt.

If you had one super power, what would it be?
ChrisSpace replied to RAINCRAFTER's topic in Forum Games!
Sorry if I already said this, but: Spacesuit + Portal gun. -
151??

Check your computer to make sure there are no corrupt cores attached to it. If there are any, remove them.

[WIP] Nuclear Warfare [No Longer Supported]
ChrisSpace replied to HiAmerica's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
- Good. Do all the nukes have the same strength? - Oh. I'm guessing this can't de implemented anytime soon. - Oh x2. Can it be made? Is it possible? - Oh x3. I'm guessing that means this is also not possible to make. -
[1.3] [Kopernicus] New Horizons v2.0.1 [2JUN17] - It's Back!
ChrisSpace replied to KillAshley's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Quick request: Can you please add a patch that, rather than changing the kerbol system, moves all the new NH planets to a new star system in KerbolGalaxy2? I really like the planets in this mod but I really want them as a separate star's solar system in my KG2 game. -
[WIP] Nuclear Warfare [No Longer Supported]
ChrisSpace replied to HiAmerica's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've wanted a mod like this for a long time. Just a few questions/suggestions: - If I drop a nuke onto the middle of the space center, will it destroy every building there? Similarly, if I fire this at a surface base, how far will the explosive damage go? - Do nukes leave a permanent crater in the landscape? - Do nukes leave a short-lived mushroom cloud? - Do nukes get rid of all nearby ground scatter? If answer to any of these are 'no', add pls. -
As for interplanetary travel, I imagine only low-Dv targets could be reached with available propulsion methods. Newton's physics made knowledge of how to achieve orbit available as far back as the 1700s, so perhaps a space station in earth orbit could be used as a place to build an interplanetary spacecraft. Landing on said planet with enough Dv for return would be even harder, so I imagine we would only have one-way journeys for anywhere beyond the moon. If mars' geological history was different, however, perhaps it could have retained liquid water and a semi-habitable atmosphere, meaning we could have a 'Mars One' type one-way colony.
