  1. Okay, thanks for everybody's input! I don't *completely* understand everything being said but it seems that basically everything needs more power. I definitely misread the CommNet wiki page at any rate! So it seems that the HG-5 can RECEIVE a signal from Kerbin 500Mm away with a Level 2 Tracking Station, but it can't TRANSMIT that far? Am I getting that right? https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/CommNet
  2. The relay satellites each have a Communotron 16 and an HG-5 relay dish. The craft orbiting the Mun has a Communotron 16-S. Looking at CommNet in the KSP wiki it looks like it should work? Maybe I'm reading it wrong? Please clarify if you can!
  3. Hello, I'm working on putting an unmanned satellite in orbit of the Mun, but when it goes around the "dark" side, it loses all connection, and isn't connecting to the relay satellites I have orbiting Kerbin. What am I doing wrong here? The relay satellites have a connection to Kerbin, but aren't relaying the signal to my station in orbit of the Mun. My tracking station is at Level 2. Here are a few screenshots to show what's going on: Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2 Screenshot 3
  4. For some reason I'm getting malware warnings when I click the download link, any alternative links?
  5. Hello, forum! I've noticed a severe lack of inclination angles in the wiki for each planet/moon. Has anyone taken the time to figure these angles yet?
  6. Simple challenge, stock parts encouraged, screenshots of your launch position relative to mun/minmus and maneuvers, please! No insta-orbit engines. The idea here is to boost craft outwards or inwards to other planets in order to save fuel.
  7. Hi guys! I'm working on figuring out how to slingshot craft past the the mun. I've pretty much got that down, but I'm wondering if any of you can consistently slingshot past the Mun and Minmus in one pass. Any information would be really helpful. Thanks! http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559825079551196509/D2764489392347391D183FCCCE9B4A07656793D8/
  8. Probably because you're going full throttle the whole way. On takeoff you don't want to go above 1/3 throttle.
  9. Here it is, capable of horizontal takeoff and vertical landing on the mun or minmus, with plenty of fuel to get back. Stock and Lander variants available.
  10. Since Nova is in with the devs now, you really ought to give the Nova Punch pack a try! Also, fly my plane! Highly capable, also capable of delivering small probodyne satellites into kerbin orbit. Just keep an eye on that RCS! New Pics above!
  11. I\'m having a little trouble with it tumbling once I engage the LFEs. Any tips for takeoff? What procedure to you follow to achieve orbit? I like the design!
  12. This is a delta-wing type spaceplane. So far I\'ve found I can get it to a 600km orbit. Uses stock parts and some Nova parts. There were some sloppy inconsistencies in both designs, I\'ve updated both craft files. Pretty stable, I generally take off and climb at 40 degrees pitch. When my vertical speed reaches its peak, I activate the aerospike thruster and climb until the air breathing engines\' efficiency drops, at which point I decouple them from the wings and activate RCS control. Landing will probably be a glide down, but if you\'re careful you\'ll have fuel to correct you reentry if needed. Pics below of the stock and Nova variants. ****IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT ACTIVATE THE LAST STAGE. EVER!****
  13. It can generate random textures, as well as load up ones for existing bodies, and you can tint them.
  14. Hey folks, I made a model of the kerbol system in universe sandbox, but I can\'t find any information on Minmus. Basically all I need is diameter and density. Pic below of what I have so far:
  15. I\'m a know-nothing at this point, so anything beyond some very simple line editing is over my head, and even then I would need someone to hold my hand through it. Anyhow, thanks for the mini-addon, Alchemist!
  16. How might I go about getting the probodyne folding solar panels to work with this? Is that possible? I like it!
  17. I found VincentMcConnell\'s guide on plane changes very useful, http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=9089.0 As well as his guide on orbital rendezvous, http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=9060.0 They both explain the mechanics of it pretty well. Good luck!
  18. Finally got it! Thanks again for the guides, also thanks to creators of MechJeb and RinComp, don\'t think I\'d have been able to do it without all of you!
  19. Mechjeb will hold a heading for you without this problem, give it a try. Pretty stable.
  20. I\'m no elite space pilot, but I\'ve noticed that waiting for about 300 m/s vertical velocity, tilting to 45 degrees, waiting for about 800 m/s, then from there staying prograde will generally get you into orbit, given you didn\'t have any problems on the way up.
  21. Thanks for these, vincent. It\'s really helped me understand orbits in all three dimensions rather than just a flat plane. I managed a 600m rendezvous, that\'s a big ass step for me.
  22. Here\'s mine, sort of a happy medium between those two EDIT: Can\'t post a screenshot for some reason, sorry.
  23. Retro rockets don\'t work when seperated, but I can live with that.
  24. you\'re right, VincentMcConnell, it does work... was I imagining things?! Maybe they were damaged And I know it\'s not really important right now Awaras, but it will be, so what better time than now to figure out how I want it to work?
