It's certainly less of an obstacle than the conical probe assembly of the SSVP "male" adapter. It always does.

The original Mir, despite not having much of truss structure, used it for a "thruster on stick" RCS.

As I understand they once tested Cygnus in this role. But it never became standard. Not entirely. While it’s a fully functional Salyut, Zarya’s control suite inherited from the TKS FGB was enough for autonomous flight.

That thumbnail tho.

There is no American propellant resupply capability in sight. For reasons beyond me.

Doesn’t look like it. Even if Roscosmos shared their trajectories (big if), those trajectories would be adapted to an inclination matching that of the ISS.

For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread

Alright, let’s go there. We know that Burevestnik is going to be hosted at Plesetsk. We know, thanks to Bart Hendrickx, that it uses the tank and thrusters from Nivelir, so it’s probably of comparable size and mass - ~100 kg. Let’s take aim at the holy grail. Assuming Angara-A5 with the recently added ground processing capability for Block D, how many Burevestniks would it be capable of dropping into the orbital region of GPS? And would it be possible to use a bielliptical transfer to scatter payloads from one launch into different GPS planes? What would the payload penalty be then? -
Noginsk-9 (yep, just got tripped by this old countermeasure) plays host to the 821st Main Space Intelligence Centеr, which has also been in charge of all inspector and kamikaze satellites, and includes a recently constructed C&C facility for 14F150 Nivelir and 14K168 Burevestnik. See procurement RFP №31806738240, there’s a lot of juicy info for a request for heating units. “Accidents” happen, especially at opportune times, and I’m sure a spur-of-the-moment attempt at discrediting the US space program is worth an old satellite.

They never STOP crying about that. I’m more concerned about sounds coming from Moscow... and Noginsk.

Well, the later Ivan Ivanovich dummies reportedly all used a face cast of Gagarin.
-
A lot of concepts I see involve ACES replacing the SM entirely. Roscosmos looked at just slapping a Fregat over the service engine.

Nothing that goes to Venus needs more heat. -
PSA: if the game doesn’t yet exist, don’t download files claiming it’s that game! Unless you’re ready to play “uninstall FakeFort” instead of Apex Legends. https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/apex-legends-mobile-fakes/25836/

https://www.rbth.com/science-and-tech/330051-russia-beat-moon-race For an RT version of early 2010s Buzzfeed ran by the parliamentary newspaper of record that has annual interviews with astrologists... this wasn’t half bad. I’m surprised they’ve chosen Lukashik of buran.ru as the contrarian, he’s... less politically mainstream and more pessimistic than Zak, even. -
How fortunate, seeing as next week is Maslenitsa. I’m about to get sick of pancakes.

The Miniteman requires precise thrust termination; solid motors aren’t known for that. This is apparently achieved by blowing the nozzle end wide open, and the resulting shift in pressure sucks out most of the remaining propellant. The Shuttle, AFAIK, accepts that the SRBs are still slightly burning when they’re separated.

Got back to this thread from an unrelated discussion. The Soyuz orbital module ingress and EVA hatch is completely separate from the SSVP docking system up front. It dates back to the old L3-era mechanical grapple and crew transfer via EVA. -

If it’s made to land on Venus, it may not need much of a chute to survive.
