Both of the stories are great, I think the reason why your other story has no responses is because people tend to read instead of comment. Usually only 1 in 100 people comment.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys - I did give those a shot but to be fair I found them a bit overwhelming when coming straight off the bat. It was a bit intimidating and confusing with all that gear, no manual whatsoever, no exposure to the forum or wiki and the vast expanse of the game in front of me.
Scott Manley's videos help a lot(at least for me) when you are starting. If you have any questions I suggest the Gameplay Questions section of the forum.

I thought it would be more 'planet explodes into smithereens like planet Krypton, or Alderran being fired on by the Death Star' than 'planet becomes a dessicated wasteland'. Also, the Mun and Minmus somehow explode or something.

You could also build a spaceplane. You could fly around Duna with the spaceplane and when you need fuel you could mine it or refuel at a space station.

Hmm, that doesn't look like the mun to me.
Also, I think that you're launching the wrong way, you want to launch to the 90 degrees marker, not the 270.

That was the launch of my mun flyby spacecraft. I did indeed launch in the wrong direction, but turns out I got a free return trajectory(I didn't have flight planning, so that was by chance). I launched it in a fuel-inefficient trajectory(you can see that my velocity vector is 45 degrees even though I'm at 50 km), so I had about 1.2 liquid fuel and oxidizer left in the spacecraft after the flyby:)

I mostly make planes in KSP. I haven't made a successful spaceplane though. My spaceplanes always overheat at 20 km:rolleyes:
