This also happened with two vessels of mine on v1.0.5.1028. It felt like the vessel broke because I was switching it on and off too many times or the functionality got damaged by radiation, but I didn't see a mention of any aging applied to probes in KSP. I don't know how much this is related, but the same vessel also could not satisfy 'Ensure that the probe has an antenna and can generate power' requirement, while the mission was directly mentioning this specific probe.
