  1. If we're talking gravity assists, and if we have pinpoint accuracy with S2, it could theoretically escape the solar system, I think, given that TESS is so light and there will probably be a lot of fuel left over.
  2. Hmm, interesting name choice, will be interesting to see it fly (if it does). The RL-10 seems like an odd choice, though, given the expense... I wonder how much they could have gotten BE-3U's for.
  3. SOMEONE MEME ME
  4. No. TESS's second stage will end up orbiting the sun.
  5. If you're referring to the things between the stages, those appear to be landing legs, although they might also function as a way to fuel the rocket. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I had a friend lined up to come over and watch it with me! I mean, we we are going to be doing other stuff (Minecraft, school project, showing him KSP, etc) but this is a bit of a bummer. I don't know when the cutoff is, but beyond a certain date they have to delay for a month or two because of InSight which takes range priority.
  6. So now SLS is NET 2021... And crew is NET 2025... This is just sad... At least we'll have more than one flight before crew, although at this point crew may not fly... EDIT: So not that hopeless after all.
  7. AWW YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! Although the diagram seems to be outdated, with the same 106m height and only 2 SL Raptors, so no new info from that. BUT YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. It worked for me, but not well.Too weird, I kept trying to focus back on the screen subconsciously. It looked like a triple RTLS, though... Imagine FH with three boosters!
  9. It said I need a request for access, which I have sent.
  10. I'm oddly interested. Relevant to the thread: We were watching Captain America: Civil War and the bad guy made a 2 second reference to the UR-100 rocket. I then explained to my parents everything I knew about it, the orbital launchers it was developed into (Strela and Rockot). I then went into a tangent about Sergei and Vladimir's rivalry and how they used different fuel combinations and how the RD-270M used Pentaborane which is nasty stuff...
  11. Actually, this sort of reminds me of something I did in Minecraft a long time ago... Long story short, it was an extensive survival that allowed spaceflight through cheats. The rocket was fully reusable, and the second stage deployed a parafoil and landed on a large pad made of slime blocks, making it effectively a bouncy castle.
  12. "This thread is quite old, please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one" Wow, how ironic. Also, I found more saves, we have 86 to get through now... Complete one, add 15... At this rate I'll never get done! I'll try to bring this back, though. Chapter 2 (8/86)
  13. And other stats, too. That would be excellent, even as a mod. I support this.
  14. WHAT THE - woah, this is unexpected. We've got a giant bouncy castle and giant party balloons. What's next, giant streamers? Giant bows? Giant cake? Actually, now that I think about it, Falcons are just really big upside-down candles...
  15. So, I'm finally getting my stuff out of my dad's laptop. It's been almost four months since I was given my new desktop, I thought it was about time... I have so much stuff on here. I'm already at 20GB and I've barely even gotten into the KSP stuff yet! All of the music projects I'll never finish, all of those cool images, some finished work, tens of thousands of screenshots... ...And a flash file called KSP Builder, which I had forgotten all about. Moach, HarvestR's brother, was actually the author, so he technically made the first version of KSP ever. Granted, it's not much, but it's interesting! ...Back to copying files, I guess. EDIT: I'm getting a weird feeling whenever I delete 10gb of video at once. I can't tell if it's a good or bad feeling.
  16. The general consensus on Reddit is that it has been stretched but the new BFR video was a lazy animation job (showing the rocket at the same scale as the 2016 ITS). Elon said it has been stretched on Twitter, and we know it's still 9 meters due to the tooling, which appears to be 9 meters. Also, better images have been released: http://www.humanmars.net/2018/04/spacex-big-falcon-rocket-launch-images.html
  17. This is bound to be entertaining! Following. Great title, as well!
  18. RIP white propulsively landable orbital class rockets, 2015-2018.
  19. One minute until launch! Liftoff, separations, and all that good stuff!
  20. Disclaimer, I haven't read the story and the pictures don't want to load in for me right now, but I gathered that you destroyed the launch pad. Is the runway still intact? And as far as contracts, unless you turned on negative funds and science, you could let them all expire and your funds will be zero, then accept a few more and get the money to launch a few more things. If you are willing to get really cheaty, you can accept a bunch of contracts, use all the money on something expensive, let the contracts expire bringing your funds to zero, recover vessel, wash, rinse, repeat.
  21. Yeah, I know, you posted this months ago, but what visual mods are you running? Me wants!
  22. A Reddit made comparison of the new BFR: A bit less stretched than the earlier estimate, but still taller than the Saturn V. Also, NEW LANDING LEGS! EDIT: Someone noticed that the leaked video had the wrong aspect ratio and the original comparison was probably inaccurate.
  23. It's probably both, and the fact that the less intelligent people now have the tools to communicate with people easier, and they have access to more things that shouldn't be used by them.
