  1. Ultimate Steve - April-June 1952 (Cycle 6) (Because I can't be bothered to make a new upload each time, so I'll stop now) @qzgy you are next!
  2. Nice! King of secretive, though. Chances of livestreaming are probably low due to the company's secretive history, but what do you think the chances are of video posted afterward? Or at least pictures?
  3. Any word on projected cost? That is the one remaining thing that needs to be seen to make NG competitive with FH. NG's capabilities are ahead of FH (unless you upgrade FH's payload adapter, and count the fact that FH is flying), but it will only seriously threaten the stability of the FH system if it costs significantly less than 150M per flight. Although, there is another positive to this... It gives SpaceX a reason to get their next generation vehicle up sooner!
  4. Wait, so all I have to do to get to Mars is go to jail there? YEAH, this will be so easy! @cubinator can be my partner in crime, I'm sure he'd get on board... All we have to do is rob a bank at gunpoint (with no bullets in the gun) and ask for one cent. EDIT: In case you're part of the 1% of the population who can't tell, this post is entirely a joke.
  5. So, earlier today I was messing around on my piano, and I noticed that "Welcome to the Black Parade" and "Raining Tacos" strangely go well with each other, so I decided to make a mashup. Fast forward 2-3 hours, it's done, but after a short round of googling I have determined that, basically, mashups are completely and entirely illegal in the US, but YT is full of them because nobody bothers to report them.

    :P

The only things that would make mashups legal is if they were licensed appropriately or I got the permission of the musicians and the publishers. Parry Gripp would be too hard because he probably gets spammed with notifications, MCR has broken up, and publishers won't talk to you unless you hire a lawyer.

Wait they are? Its not under creative license or something as a parody?

Unfortunately not. Fair use has been determined to exclude the use of audio tracks for sampling, and that would apply to using the entire song as well.

Wikipedia offers a different stance, saying:

      • You can do it but you have to pay 94 cents for every copy sold (I don't plan on selling it)
      • It must fall under fair use

However, my mashup does not fall under fair use, because my use of the entirety of It's Raining Tacos would violate factor 3 (What you used as a percentage of the original). I might have been able to get away with using Black Parade because I only used the first two minutes or so, but according to stuff I've seen on multiple websites, the courts usually rule in favor of the producer.

Nobody will probably ever care, but that doesn't change the fact that it's illegal.

  6. My my, what an eventful 1951 it's been! All three of us have sent something into orbit, making all of us at least six years ahead of real life... This is way more intense than I thought it would be, everyone is so close together! Ultimate Steve - January-March 1952 (Cycle 5) @qzgy, you're up! Also, I'm updating the OP statistics for Q4.
  7. I found the Mk1 pod memorial first and the island airfield second, then the monolith... Granted, I looked them all up first... The only times I remember accidentally coming across one were orbiting the Mun low enough to see an arch, and landing 1.7km away from a monolith on Gilly.
  8. T-1 hour, 10 minutes. I keep notifications on for this thread because I feel lonely if I don't get at least one notification when I open the forum. I have no life
  9. Well, we can at least tell him how Sariban implemented it.
  10. Sariban's mods (IIRC) include the Nyan cat as an April Fool's joke.
  11. If I run, I can make it home fast enough to watch the launch today. I get out of school 15 minutes before the launch... Wait, I brought my bike today, so it should be easier to get home early than usual!
  12. EDIT: It appears Reese may have deleted his Twitter? EDIT2: This post was formerly a tweet saying that a Jeb plushie would be flown on the first Artemis flight.
  13. I would have been able to see it this morning if I had gotten up early enough (and it wasn't cloudy). If anyone here is in South America, look up in about 80 minutes.
  14. Ultimate Steve - October-December 1951 (Cycle 4) @qzgy You're up!
  15. Ah good! I knew I wasn't the only one refreshing that page every 5 minutes!
  16. Ultimate Steve - July-September 1951 (Cycle 3) Rules updates: We're considering a new rule where you have to an unmanned test of every rocket planned to be manned. Update: Statistics spoiler added to the OP, to be updated after each cycle. Includes various records, and when each player accomplished each milestone. @qzgy, your turn!
  17. If I see a link with w4w9W in it I close it immediately or don't click the link.
  18. In one of my mission reports I have a ship that needs to refuel itself on Gilly. However, due to the glitch, every time I load it, it will shoot off almost at escape velocity. I have resorted to putting it into orbit for the time being, and I think I'll cheat the fuel in. I currently play in 1.3.1, but I have 1.4 installed, mostly for messing around with the chutes. I also have a 1.1 install and a 1.2 install, both for Realism Overhaul.
  19. Some updates, what I was able to find: CloudOne, CloudOnePlus, and Luna have either been postponed or scrapped. A new sounding rocket, Artemis, is being designed, targeting a cost of 25k per launch (not sure whether that accounts for reusability and profits or not) and will make an attempt at being fully reusable (which requires refueling hybrid rockets, which will be interesting, not sure how much that has been done before). Artemis is currently targeting a first flight in June of this year (!). They have also decided to push forward with Vapor, a two stage methalox vehicle capable of 6 tons to LEO and 1.8 tons to GTO, expected to fly in 2020 with a cost of 3 million per vehicle. Similar to Falcon 9 and Electron, it will have 9 engines on the first stage and 1 engine on the second stage (if I interpreted the information correctly). According to the twitter feed, they have built the first full scale Vapor engine and were going to test it in March at NASA Stennis, but this may have been pushed back. They have also bought the land for the Artemis/Vapor factory. This is a sign that they are making significant progress, actual testing hardware is in existence. I myself think the dates and costs are a bit optimistic, but then again, that's 95% of projected dates in Aerospace history.
  20. Title can be misleading to the uninformed, but the concept is a great one. My name's on there, my late grandfather (who worked at NASA for 30 years) is as well, and so is my almost girlfriend's name. Pessimistically speaking, this might be the closest I ever get to going into space.
