  1. That sounds like a good plan. With regards to RCS - designing a tug/component system to be balanced for RCS makes docking a lot easier. Two options are to design your components' RCS layout to work with the tug AND after assembly. The other option is to add some temporary RCS ports on the component and use KAS/KIS to send a Kerbal out and remove the temporary thrusters - this is kind of fun because it gives me a chance to use kerbals in part of the process - much like real-life.
  2. I had the same thing happen early in my KSP days...I'd spent many hours building and assembling a space station. it had every cool little part I could think of. Instead of one big RCS tank I'd have symmetric rings of little ones to look cool. It also had lights everywhere on it. It looked great...at 10fps decided to de-orbit it and put up something more practical.
  3. it's scarier that you kept count...you need a tiny rubber stamp of jeb so you can put a little jeb symbol on your monitor frame for every kill.
  4. Kerbal Alarm Clock really helps at this. There are many great examples of use in the thread above.
  5. agreed...I didn't mention that because it's been that way for many release cycles...It would have been more clear to say "it works just as well as it did with 1.3" By the way, someone earlier in this thread had a fix for that...check around June 30th
  6. Revamp is working fine in 1.3.1 and I'm not seeing any issues with solar panels.
  7. Technically Kerbals don't even breathe or eat either...In the past there have been suggestions floated that Kerbals are evolved from amphibians who can easily enter and leave a state of hibernation in which they require no life support or space to move. Me? I just installed USI-LS and plan for lots of elbow room
  8. Sadly, no. Every time you reload the craft it defaults with PC off regardless of the state of your caps lock key.
  9. @Julien Kerman yea...I'm kind of concerned too. Did OSHA sign off on this?
  10. Thanks! I only caught the difference because I was trying to tweak the Supplies consumption rates for USI-LS which is using solar days, but I was doing my math off the sidereal day readout from Tracking Station. I appreciate your and @AG5BPilot's responses. By the way @OhioBob, the amount of knowledge you freely share and the amount of time you must spend writing these detailed responses is just incredible. I've learned so much from reading your posts. Thanks!
  11. I noticed the Gael length of day as reported in the Tracking Station is 5h 59m 9s instead of the 1 day (6h) it should report. The Kopernicus config says the correct number of seconds (21600), but for some reason it's different in the Tracking Station.
  12. Yep, I don't use IVAs. I misunderstood. I thought you were planning the tree(s) etc to be visible externally through the glass roof
  13. I just realized we are totally usurping this thread...sorry 'bout that... (back to regularly scheduled program...) I've tried various locations for gateways / refueling. My favorite is now to park a big asteroid in Kerbin orbit and mine it for fuel. My ships launch only with enough fuel to dock with the asteroid and then top off their tanks there. This keeps my launch weights down and gives me a set altitude that I can plan my launch windows for. I tried lunar refueling and a few others. Just found that keeping launch weight down was a bigger advantage (i try to keep my lifters from being too Kerbalized)
  14. confirmed. I'm using it with GPP without a problem. Awesome mod!!
  15. Not trying to be obtuse here I guess I'd have to see a picture of your craft to understand why the battery stack has to be as high as the crew cabin
  16. Not sure I'm following you..why is a thin battery a problem?
  17. congrats! two things I've found that increase lag are high part-counts and lots of lighting. My first stations had tons of parts attached and lots of lighting (because...cool!). I found that reducing lighting and choosing higher capacity parts (one big battery instead of lots of small batteries) both helped significantly
  18. Nice work! do you have a list of the various engine's specs? Thrust, ISP, weight...are they in line with stock engines?
  19. are you using the most updated version released yesterday? In the update notes Galileo said " Fixed Saturn's rings. No longer show up black. "
  20. This is cool! On almost any planet other than Kerbin the greenhouse would likely need some form of filtering for all the wavelengths that aren't life-friendly and that our/their atmosphere filters out. it would be entirely reasonable to have dark glass, gold or some other metallic color to reflect that (no pun intended ) If you want a more detailed interior a few trees to show a park space with some judicious use of textured flat images to show low-lying plants would probably look pretty good. Thanks for all the work
  21. You're lander is really tall for the width of your landing legs. One option that many use would be to split your giant fuel tank and use smaller ones with a center tank surrounded by 3 or 4 attached symmetrically. Then put the legs on the outside of the 3 (or 4) side tanks. This shortens your craft a lot and broadens the landing leg spread a lot.
  22. cool...which landing floats are those on the right?
