  1. I haven't been to Jool before. So many people make comments about it that I become slightly saddened that there is no Jool transfer window nearby. However, a Jool hohmann-transfer (with mid-course plane change) is fast approaching - according to a website that I can't remember the name of, it arrives in approximately 39 kerbal days; just over a kerbal month. So, in this thread, I will be preparing, sending, and exploring the Joolian system, probe-style (since I send probes everywhere and not kerbals - safer, cheaper and I have some pretty good probe designs anyway.) It will be updated over time, with links to each stage of development. Hopefully, you will enjoy the journey as much as I do!
  2. Did you accidentally the everything? If so, have you tried turning it on and off again?
  3. I managed to make me a smallish probe lander that can go anywhere in the Kerbol system, and return from most places too. Until I think of a better name, it is called "Probe Land and Return". It consists of three stages: 1. A landing stage that takes the probe to its destination and can land in most places (and can theoretically land on Laythe and Tylo once it loses weight). It has fins for atmospheric control and detachable parachutes for an easier landing. It has approx. 7500m/s of delta-v. 2. A small stage designed to take the probe home if needs be. It has approx. 2200m/s of delta-v. 3. A very small stage designed to get the probe home in an emergency situation or when it is known the probe is not to return. It has a parachute for atmospheric landing, and has about 690m/s of delta v. Altogether, it has about 10km/s of delta v. It has lights on the bottom of a mk2 adaptor for easy night landings and safe atmospheric entering. There are two PB-NUKs on the lander stage to power the lights, though the 2 solar panels on the top help (even if they are not needed when the first stage is attached.) Another shot. This is an earlier version with RCS on it and the parachutes jettisoned. I removed them as it is not needed and it gives it extra delta-v.
  4. This new one is pretty awesome. On a side note, holy god that's a lot of round RCS tanks.
  5. You done did it now. This is amazing. What is the end goal of the procedural fractal sun?
  6. Can't wait for the next update! Those xenon tanks look good.
  7. It should be located in your save folder, under your game name, and then in the SPH (if it was made in the space plane hanger) or VAB (if it was made in the Vehicle Assembly Building) Then, upload it to mediafire. I don't think you need an account to do so, but it helps if you do as you can keep track of your files over time.
  8. Oh man that face. Out of curiosity, what position am I in the que?
  9. Yeah; I wanted to make a sort-of minimalist version of Apollo with a probe taking over the CSM while the pilot lands. Good to see that I managed to get that right
  10. This is my firstish craft submission (my first one got swallowed up in the Greatest-In-Koridai Forum Destruction of 2013): A Smallish version of the Apollo program in general terms. What does this mean? Well, it follows the same staging cycle: First and second stage get the craft into a near-orbit, third stage finishes it and gets it to Mun insertion, the CSM brings it into Mun orbit while the munar lander lands and comes back up and finally the CSM returns home by itself. The CSM also does the forward-rotate-reverse-dock maneuver with the lander like the Apollo program. However, it does not look like it 100%. The third stage does resemble it but the first and second do not. Anyway, pictures! The one below is my favourite: The lander had 909 d-v when it landed, so I think it has enough to get itself back into Munar orbit to dock. Here is a link to an album about it: http://imgur.com/a/VPAtc#0 And here is a download linky (NOTE: THE CRAFT FILE IS 278 PARTS. IT MAY BE KINDA SMALLISH IN SIZE BUT BIG IN PART COUNT): http://www./?dslu1rz3g5cc6jv ABORT does what you expect it to do: it disengages the command pod from the rest of the craft and fires the seperatron engines. They have a high enough TWR to escape the first stage burning full throttle. There is only one hotkey: 1. It either undocks the abort tower (if you have used it) or undocks it AND fires up the seperatrons (if you have not used it). There are no major instructions to be had here. Just don't turn too fast when doing the gravity turn and don't wobble the third stage when seperating from it (you separate before you dock according to staging order; makes life easier for you and me). If there is demand for it I will create a second edition with added features. Hope you enjoy it!
  11. Hang on, doesn't my submission also get points for 'Up there' and 'hardcore pilot' as well? Or is it too late to change?
  12. I finished the challenge, all stock. Imgur album here: http://imgur.com/a/ltTen#0 Here is the video of Tim running, albeit at a shorter distance from when he began: http://youtu.be/eWnMCM2u6v8 Let's tally up the points: 10 - I Got Wheels + 10 - This Ain't no Seaplane + 20 - The Journey + 20 - Getting Higher + 100 - Landing Like a Pro (I think; you can clarify whether I am within bounds to do it.) Therefore my final points = 160. This was a fun challenge. I was going for the faster time approach and less show offy but I think I managed to create a spectacle anyway.
  13. All of these images are amazing. I can't even; thats how good they are. Just out of curiosity, are you still doing commisions for images like these? Yesss indeed.
  14. According to the director, the movie is going to be a blend of Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. So don't get surprised when they start to focus on Bean a bit. They also bumped up the ages of the characters, I think (it makes sense; no way they can get 6 year olds to act the way the book describes them.)
  15. I am in the process of finishing this challenge. As such, I am reserving this post until it is done (I have to go somewhere.) EDIT: Look like I changed my mind. Woops. Challenge post is down below.
  16. That post is amazing! This whole mission is great and it really really makes me want to go to Laythe. Unfortunately, Jool is at the wrong phase angle right now so I will have to wait. Keep it up!
  17. So many over-reactions. There is no cause for alarm. I have been here for a while (long time forum stalker, which is why my post count is so low) and there has been no evidence from any influx of people that the game, or this community, has been degraded because of it. See, this person gets it. Like, for example: 1. Try to land on the Mun before you try to go to Bop. (I haven't even been to or beyond the Jool system before; go figure.)
  18. The electric engines caught my eye. The MMRTG looks good as well.
  19. This mod looks awesome. Downloading now and subscribed to this thread (this will be the first mod I download.)
  20. I survived. Seemingly no damage, too. EDIT: I seemed to have lost many of my posts. Oh well.
  21. That looks awesome. I can't fly to Duna because I suck, but I would like to congratulate you on making a really, really cheap spacecraft that works!
  22. Are you saying it's bad because he thought you could just shoot the skeleton with a gun, or that he didn't remember what you had told him earlier? I also have friends like that. They don't think all games have guns, but they say that they aren't willing to sink the amount of time KSP requires.
  23. We choose the nuke the moon not because it is easy, but because it is awesome.
  24. Looks amazing. Also, the video made me open Skype at 3:20 (in the video, not actual time) because I thought someone was messaging me.
