  1. Speaking of Blender: I just decided to make a quick and dirty Rubik's Cube. The lack of fresnel is really apparent. I'm comparing it to my rubik's cube, which it's a lot more reflective.
  2. Half. HALF!? In comparison: Here's something I made in Blender that's nowhere near done, will never be done, and sucks [I am not allowed to use a fitting word here]! That, by the way, is the upper half of the table I'm actually using right now, along with my primary monitor. I do not have the patience, nor the motivation, to model everything that I have on my table - mouse, keyboard, speakers, microphone, lamp and 5 rubik's cubes, just to name a few. And if that wasn't enough, I'll gladly make it even worse: None of these things are textured. These are just material colors.
  3. Setting up a geostationary satellite for Eve: ...And also bringing someone back from Gilly! And what can I say? The mission was... very lucrative!
  4. For various reasons I have this stuck in my head right now:
  5. So, yesterday I captured a class E asteroid. Turns out that with it I only have 24m/s, which was just enough to get it into a somewhat stable orbit. It buys me enough time to send a new craft up and get it into a proper orbit. That happened today. I also decided (a little late, frankly) to use the opportunity to go to Eve for a satellite contract. I can't wait for the moment when I get the bigger landing legs and the appropriate probe core. The satellite was 4 t, something I could have gotten to orbit with a boostback and a second stage. For now I had to deorbit it and let it burn up. And I finally got to go back home after spending a lot of time in Gilly orbit!
  6. @eggrobin @pleroy I just had a problem with the flight plan. I set up a node and the "ignition" timer was wrong. It was about 10 minutes behind; for Kerbin that was a noticeable difference. I then loaded a quicksave and now the timer is indeed counting down correctly. Here's the maneuver I've planned. Unfortunately I made the screenshot after having loaded the quicksave. I know that my version is out of date, if this has already been fixed it would be nice to direct me to that version.
  7. *last three posts are from you* It's okay. You can slow down.
  8. Things are about to get really hot!
  9. Lots of pictures, and by that I mean 12. Bear with me. I was looking for asteroids to capture. I do that only if the orbit has a periapsis close to Kerbin or is colliding with it. This asteroid was on a collision course with Kerbin, and while it was just a class A, a very interesting path was plotted to get there are early as possible. I eventually rendezvoused with it and corrected the orbit to have a near-Kerbin periapsis. In the meantime, while I was coasting to periapsis, Jeb, Bill and Bob decided that now is a good time to show up after over 2 years of orbiting Kerbol from a Duna encounter. Firing the engines up one last time. Entering the atmosphere at over 3600m/s could have unintended consequences. Anyways; back to the main mission: Redirecting the asteroid. Setting up a nice orbit close in MKO(?), about 1000km above the surface. I then deorbited, and upon opening the map view I found myself looking at this path: The Duna mission got a lot of science back. I now have over 1400 points; I started the ARM with ~200. That's more than I can spend right now! I also decided to sit out this year's Duna launch window. Give the Kerbals a break, you know? Both crews just came back from a journey! There is one more manned mission going on right now: A lander in a Gilly orbit. But I'll have to wait for the appropriate opportunity to return her from there. That hasn't happened yet.
  10. Launched a satellite into orbit. The orbit is retrograde, but it's high SMA allowed me to launch normally, then simply reverse the trajectory. As for the equation I posted: It still works perfectly. However, due to the different methods used by KSP and Principia to draw their orbits, I had to do a correction burn later.
  11. Banned because you gave yourself the perfect opportunity for a Droste effect image and you didn't do it.
  12. Here are my photos. They really looked better and far less noisy on the small display of the camera. But newer, higher quality cameras are so expensive! You'll have to deal with it for now. These shots are from the Moon exiting Earth's umbra This one is from my mother, she took it near the beginning of the eclipse. This was my second eclipse ever! The last one being the previous lunar eclipse of July 2018.
  13. I played around a bit with return trajectories for first stages. Turns out that for my launch vehicle, RTLS is viable until around 5t payload. Edit: As an expendable rocket it can carry up to 22.5 tons into LKO (but not much further) while still being able to deorbit the second stage. Launching a Falcon Heavy like this and performing 2 boostbacks and one brake to land on the peninsula should be an interesting exercise in multitasking.
  14. Strange. Mine is wobbling all over the place as early as circularization.
  15. Does seeing the ISS 14 or so times count?
  16. @Kerbas_ad_astra Sorry to bring yet another problem with the Skipper, but here it is: High thrust settings cause a Skipper-powered stage to start wobbling (SAS enabled, of course). The stage is only around 12t (+ Payload) mass at worst, but it makes precision maneuvers at high thrust impossible.
  17. Turns out that it was very foggy at the time of totality. Of course it cleared up once the Moon started to get out of Earth's shadow. Also, the camera that I was using, an old Olympus, requires its own USB cable to get them on the PC. So it may take a few days until you can see mine. And I took some! Not professional of course and most of them are overexposed, but it's fine.
  18. I'm the only one, so yes? TUBM can / will be able to see the lunar eclipse in a few hours.
  19. Come to Germany. It has been fantastic, absolutely clear weather over here for the last 3 days. I'm sure I'll get to see some of the eclipse here. I'll take some photos with my camera. I just held it in my hands for the very first time, so don't expect any masterpieces.
