I have recently accepted the contract to scan asteroids with the SENTINEL Infrared. I get the feeling I have accepted this contract quite early, but with a 5 million upfront payment I couldn’t resist. Unfortunately the antennas I have (the first ones you unlock early - the two that are the same but different and the on HG relay one) can’t keep control of the probe that is meant to be set to an orbit of around 10 million metres around the sun. I’m planning on setting up a few relay probes, but exactly where? Not quite knowing what to do I put one up with an orbit as high as possible before escaping Kerbins SOI. However I’m not getting a connection from one ship to another, my SENTINEL probe is trying to reach straight to Kerbin, with limited success. Exactly where should I position my probes for higher coverage? Bearing in mind I still have very basic antennas.

The movie Valerian includes (hypothetically) what happened to the ISS, and in the movie it basically just expanded as more and more pieces kept attaching to it by docking. Has anyone tried doing this? Is it possible to keep building on to a space station? Whats the biggest space station you’ve built? EDIT: just to clear up any confusion, this wasn’t meant to be a question, but more of a suggestion of what I’d like someone to do. However I was wondering if it would even work

I'm fairly certain the calculation is quite complicated, I think it would be easiest if you just get a mod that tells you the exact number -

Success! Thank you very much for writing your guide, it helped a lot. I don't think anyone's mentioned this, but circularising your orbit so that it matches the target is great, because it helps to focus on dropping your speed without the annoyance of your distance to target being off, because another encounter will happen, and its usually a better one. Also the EVA moment is quite tricky, when it's pitch black and you have to navigate with nothing but a green square (note to self: Install more lights - I forgot about the helmet ones) -Welcome Aboard! -Home Sweet home! -

This is what I used to get the intercept markers close, and it works well! Thank you! Oh excellent, I've already been close enough to switch control I just didn't know how to, will try it out. Ok that makes sense. One last thing, I should be prioritising speed over distance right? Get speed down to as close to zero as possible and distance less than 1km -

That's all well and good, but at what point should I start decreasing my speed? Earlier or later? Also should I plan on matching orbits? I've noticed this gives me more encounters, so I guess it might be easier to set up another one once I miss one. -

Only problem is I can never get close enough without increasing my speed too much, and either way I can't get closer than 1km -
I must be doing this wrong. My current plan is: - Match Periapses with targets -Increase Apoapsis until I get a nice encounter Now here is what I don't get, I have to options of which way to point. One (usually) drops my speed, but increases the distance between us, while the other does the opposite. What must I do to get relative speed and distance to 0? I usually either end up flying at similar speed but being about a kilometre away from him. Also how do I actually get Richfal onto my ship? I haven't been close enough to see it yet, but I assumed I just EVAd him onto my ship, but there is no option to switch to his control. Do we dock or what? EDIT: Thank you everyone! Managed to bring back poor Jebediah after his failed mission to the moon! The A-Team is reunited!

I used to grind out world of tanks. Only got as far as the Black Prince though (tier VII) Also almost made the Tiger before I stopped playing. Shame -
I've always been circularising a nice orbit around the target planet/moon before landing, but I don't exactly know why. There is bound to be a reason why I can't just set up a collision course, and then just slow down enough. What is this reason? All I can think of is you can pick your landing spot.

Question about the science base

Ah ok. Once my data runs out, can I use the same mystery goo etc to fill it back up, or a different one? And also is 0.7 science a day particularly low? I'm still early in the game so I'm not asking for much, but since I'm looking at the 160 sc upgrades, not even 1 a day is quite insignificant. -

I literally just unlocked it, (that rockomax size science base) so I slapped in a random scientist I'd never used before (I've actually never used scientists before) so he was zero stars. Anyway, I first stopped off at orbit. Realising I had extra fuel left, I went for a moon orbit. Annoyingly, I must have already activated the science jr, as I couldn't do anything with it while flying over the moon. I collected the mystery goo, thermometer and barometer, and my scientist is researching away. So far he's collecting 0.7 science a day. Is this low? I assume if I had a higher level scientist it would be a higher production. What can I do to get a higher science rate? The rocket was quite pricey for me, so I'll wait before I get another one. Would it be worth working out for a better scientist and then posistion a base around minmus? Or first try and land one on the mun? Thank you
