Without a log file to pore through, my guess is that there is a missing texture for the surrounding area. Does this happen elsewhere in the game, such as in the grasslands or highlands?

@bubbabeast81 I highly recommend using CKAN for installing and managing any mods you may wish to use in KSP. The error you are seeing, as has been stated by others, appears to be an incompatibility issue, coupled with missing dependencies. CKAN will help you with installing not just a given mod, but also by insuring you are getting the most/latest compatible version AND any/all dependencies you may need to get that mod to run properly. So, I actually have a post here regarding my own issues with MJ not doing burns when using landing guidance. You pick the target, click land at target, and nothing happens. Well, I did some testing, and after I upgraded the R&D building to level 2 and got Advanced Flight Control, it now seems to work. You can see what I've written on this here:

So, I have deduced that this is due to one of 2 things: Advanced Flight Control; OR R&D Level 2. II upgraded R&D to level 2, and then before running a test I went around and collected a bunch of surface samples at the KSC to get enough science to purchase Advanced Flight Control. I then sent a lander to the Mun...and MJ worked fine. I will have to test these independently of one another, but st least I've got it working. For now.

Granted. NASA builds a colony inside Mars, and they leave it alone for 10000 years. They eventually visit it to find it failed due to being inside the planet and not on it I wish to be the first human being to set foot on Mars.
