[Minimum KSP version 1.11] Surface Mounted Lights v1.19
Espatie replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hi. I love using this mod; it makes rescue missions so much easier when my ships have running lights! However, I have noticed a strange thing: when mounting the Omni light on some parts, the light shines right through solid objects. The most obvious example is the Cheetah engine cowling; mount Omni lights on the outside and the inside gets lit up. I have checked and there's no part of the light itself showing through the object. It is also noticeable on the Service Bays; lights on the inside illuminate exterior surfaces and vice versa. I think that even for Kerbals photons should be stopped by solid objects. -
You only need about 3200 for a perfectly efficient LKO ascent; I suspect you are having problems with your ascent profile? I had the same problem. How soon are you inclining to east and at what height are you reaching 45 degrees lean?

Minor threadjack (not a question worth a new thread to itself): Does anyone know of a Mod that includes a 1.875m (Medium, Making History Sized) Reaction Wheel?
-
Simple thing; if I've got 3 Pe/Ap markers (Ship, target, maneuver) in very close proximity it can be difficult to tell which belongs to which orbit. Is there a mod that will colour-code the mouse over text to match the orbit colour?

I just rescued a Kerbal from the debris of her craft in LKO for the first time. That was awfully hard work. There must be a better method than I was using. The whole operation was not helped by a mistake with the rescue orbiter meaning that it was a bit unstable moving laterally under RCS. Definitely some design and testing to be done there. Also, new rule: the rescue orbiter should be absolutely covered in ladders. In fact, I might try and make a web of extending ladders to catch EVAing Kerbals. Also, Lights. Lights are a thing that should happen. Still, welcome to the team Bobert Kerbin, an exceptionally stupid (& quite cowardly) Engineer. Nice to have another girl about the place though.

SPH Mirror mode disengages

I tried this and it came up with some complaints; we'll see if that fixes it. Thank you! -
SPH Mirror mode disengages
Espatie replied to Espatie's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Like it says in the title, I'm in the SPH -
OK, this is driving me up the wall. I know this used to work a long time ago, but I've forgotten how. I'm trying to build things in Mirror Mode and it keeps turning off, for no reason I can see. Example: Put down a pocket edition I-Beam as root part (building a subassembly here). Try to put a micronode on each end, it's in Mirror Mode when I pick it up and drag it, but as soon as it's touching the connecting node it switches mirror mode off. How do I force it to stay on Mirror?

What wheels are you using, what mass are you carrying, in what gravity and at what velocity? Edit: Oh and how many wheels?

I was more thinking of the underlying structure-of-the-universe implications than the physical level TBH.

Well this is about to get moved to another forum, but... Basically you can't go at Lightspeed because Physics says No. You are thinking of velocity in purely newtonian-mechanical terms, with a linear relationship between the force applied and the resulting velocity (in, of course, a totally frictionless environment). That's not actually how the universe works, is the problem. Energy input has diminishing returns in velocity. This is a fiendishly complicated subject which a lot of very very smart people have been working on for decades and they still don't know all the answers.

Let's not forget that at least some of the mods exist to deliberately make the game harder. Anyone for Life Support? Stock-only can be a challenge. But selected mods can be a challenge too. In the same way that some people are only interested in Sandbox Mode play, while others regard Career Mode as "the game" and Sandbox Mode as the testing environment. It's just not worth the effort to judge other players in a single player game on their modding choices or motivations.

If you're on Venus and all you are interested in is the atmosphere, you can use a Cloud City.

@theJesuit did you just straight add the O, or did you reduce the LF content to 9/20ths and put 11/20th of O in?

I'm disappointed you didn't go with "Kerbal Minus Kerbals" as a name, but maybe I've read too much Garfield Minus Garfield.

The NCS Adapter has been a fuel tank in Stock since 1.0 AFAIK In 1.6 the Kerbodyne ADTP-2-3 has also received a fuel tank addition, by popular demand. I believe some people had modded Fuel Tanks into wings that don't have them (and in some cases, modded wings that only carry LF to carry LFO instead).

Related to this: Is it still the case that the Uncontrolled stages vanishing in atmosphere happens as a result of the atmospheric pressure being greater than 0.01 (Kerbin, sea-level) atmospheres?
