  1. I am reeally looking forward to something more like Saturn and its moons (muns). Beautiful rings, a mun with an atmosphere and surface gravity that is only slightly more than Earth. I know rings would be another complication, but when it\'s implemented, I\'m heading that way as fast as I can.
  2. With the current code, I can just picture my frame rate in the atmosphere of a fully realized gas giant. I\'d love to see it if they could get it done correctly though. I\'m really looking forward to seeng an asteroid belt with a few Minmus sized bodies in it. THAT would be a challenging landing.
  3. This is great stuff. Can\'t wait to crash some of your parts. =P
  4. Haha, the first thing I thought of was a veritech fighter transitioning to guardian mode.
  5. That\'s pretty epic. I stumbled upon the arch as I was burning retrograde at about 25km altitude and spotted something, just a couple odd coloured pixels. I altered course to investigate and there it was. I thought there were only mono . . . munoliths up there. Always fun to discover stuff like this before hearing about it.
  6. I have started the slow turn method and it seems to be working rather well. I start my turn just as I\'m leaving the lower atmosphere and turn at a rate of about 10 degrees per 10km. I doubt it\'s perfect, but I\'m making orbit reliably and consistently. I\'m curious though, is there an ideal altitude over Kerbin to burn toward the Mun? Assuming youu are in a circular orbit with no inclination.
  7. Is it possible to use an XBOX 360 controller (which I have working fine with Wondows) with KSP? I\'m sure I could map buttons to keyboard keys, but would the analog sticks work properly? That would make flight/landing so much easier.
  8. Yup, information that would have been useful several launches ago. Methinks the wiki pages on parts should have a little more detail.
  9. Certain countries view internet access as a fundamental human right. Therefore they would likely view this as a human rights violation.
  10. I feel kinda dumb, because I assumed if you had a radial decoupler and strut connectors attaching two parts, the struts would hold on while the decouplers let go, defeating the purpose. I finally tested that assumption and now so many more design po ssibilities have been opened up. I guess I made it to the moon without this possibility, but now there are so many more options. #facepalm
  11. Well, I\'m glad you brought this up since this was one of the personal challenges on my list. It would be great if Lagrange Points were implemented so when the solar system is expanded we could use them to travel to other planets with almost no energy expenditure. Just need to stock up on rations for the brave Kerbanauts.
  12. If I want to copy the radial decouplers then edit version two, how much would I have to change so there are no conflicts in game?
  13. I have tried that. Perhaps I shouldn\'t have so much stage overlap. No, I don\'t stage them until they\'re dry. No, a single fuel tank stack with an engine at the bottom. They\'ve been hitting the last tank and the engine.
  14. I\'m having trouble with boosters on radial couplers hitting my rocket and knocking it to pieces, or worse blowing it all to bits. Any advice? I\'m playing with Nova Punch, but using predominantly vanilla components.
  15. Well, I was speaking more of my piloting rather than my design schemes. If a budget is ever implemented though, efficiency in design will become a huge deal!
  16. My buddy sent me an email: I downloaded the demo that night and jumped on the forums. I\'m all about forums. I was immediately obsessed with the idea of landing on the Mun, I don\'t know why, but I pretty much paid $15 just for landing legs, haha. I finally landed safely last night (took almost a week). I actually commented to my buddy about how this community is so much different than most others.
  17. I added a little fuel to the first stage, which game me more room to breath while establishing Kerbin orbit. This was my easiest Mun landing yet (also second, haha). I have plenty of fuel for the trip home.
  18. Depending on how high you\'re talking, it might be easier to just head straight out, watching your AP (which will be in front of you. When it gets close to where you want your orbit, turn and burn toward the artificial horizon, watching your Pe rise. This doesn\'t work as well for me because I\'m shooting for a 100km orbit with a weak second stage, so if I just turn and burn when i reach around 80km, I\'ll fall back to Kerbin before I have an orbit. I know from experience. So I turn gradually and it\'s been working pretty darn well. I have a successful Mun mission as evidence. How high are you talking?
  19. I\'ve been making attempts at Mun landings and gradually arriving there with more and more fuel as my piloting becomes more and more consistent. I finally landed there moments ago. Thanks for your help, guys.
  20. I launcher Giller 3, a slightly upgraded Giller. Nothing fancy, just some Nova Punch nose cones and added an ASAS module to the lander. Unfortunately, I totally messed up the stages and decoupled my landing legs as I was descending. So I went back to the VAB and carefully re-ordered my staging, then tested in atmosphere, then tweaked a bit, then tested in atmosphere again. Finally ready, Giller 3 launched in hopes of meeting up with the stranded Kerbanauts. Initial orbit around Kerbin was smooth and uneventful, as was transition burn to the Mun. When the Mun\'s gravity grabbed hold of the transition stage + lander, I slowly began firing retrograde. At about 10km I ditched the transition stage with nearly a full tank left. Now began the final descent, landing legs down onto the dark night side of the Mun into a large impact crater that faces Kerbin. My inexperience resulted in only a quarter of a tank of fuel left, but this was a glorious sunrise to watch.
  21. Sounds like a hairy flight, but I\'m glad to great the craft is capable of it in good hands. I will tweak the design to ads SAS and a little more more fuel. It is definitely a good idea to drop the radial tanks right away. They are one if my favorite features if that design, but they certainly won\'t do you any favors empty. Thanks for the pictures, it\'s encouraging that my design skills are better than my piloting.
  22. I\'m not going to lie, knowing this earlier may have saved some lives.
