Not quite.... lifespan is a bit shorter because of the rapid aging to 7 to achieve the knowledge download. A lifespan shorted seven years. Beyond this at least in my fiction they would look like your average palette swapped star trek humanoid.... odd color but still looks human overall. The reason for such a striking look is so they could not easily pretend to be human in disguise. Not that they look like this.... but you get the idea...

I dunno... you are playing with fire... since your version of super genuis is even more potent than mine. Yet there is a way to ensure these offshoots can be born.... semi-naturally. They would have to be born twice as it were... and leave the second womb as a seven year old child. What secondary womb? Well. . . the tech in the setting is ALREADY high, so have the baby normally... except it would need to be inserted into 'downloader knowledge base' exo-womb right away or it would soon die. After spending about a week in there the child would be deposited out the womb all sticky.... but able to walk and talk like any seven year old.... but of course lacking the maturity. Year one for these guys and gals would be... taxing on their caregivers to say the least.

totm nov 2023 SpaceX Discussion Thread
Spacescifi replied to Skylon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
No? I mean... KSP does not have humans so.... just make up a scifi race with the will and means and they will do what physics will allow that we have not because if they are like Kerbals... they do not fear death. -
Alright this is going to sound lame but it is still a winner in my opinion. If you go out and get a burger I highly recommend you take some slices of sharp cheddar along with you. If you like spice or tartness they add quite a bit of tang and in my opinion make ANY burger or sandwich better.

Yes.... scifi can change that though. -

Politics is a human construct physical laws could care less about.... even though it is a wall that must be climbed over nonetheless. -

That is the glory of physical laws... they do not care about breaking any manmade status quo. Only that you meet whatever requirements that physical laws require. If so it won't matter who you are... so long you you have what it takes physics will work for you rather than against you... just like time. -
That is arguably less realistic due to the way brains functions. If I read online correctly, memories involve synapses forming connections over and over. Like wrapping your hands with yarn, the more you do it, the harder it will be remove it from memory. Brains are not like computers since information cannot be deleted or removed... only installed, suppressed, or repressed.

Nah... humans are not Goauld level stupid. But that would be a very neat trick for the superminds to employ on the humans. Hint: They solved it, but are developing it for a foreign state that gives them more agency with regard to their future. EDIT: And knowing what is unsolvable currently and what is not is very useful information... since it precludes wasted efforts and money spent on chasing the impossible dream.
-
As much as you may loath what I will say.... I never assumed it. Humans would ENFORCE that they develop new science and technology to progress humanity and solve the seemingly unsolvable. I am well aware this will come back as a bunch of negative karma from superminds who chafe at this. But not all would.....
-
Humans do not inherit genetic skill memory like the animals do. You cannpt breed two geniuses together and expect a long line of Einsteins if you keep it up. Yet with animals.... dogs for example... you can literally breed for personality traits! Humans are not that way... and any one who posits otherwise would quickly run afoul of forum rules. The OP only queries what could occur if skills could be preloaded without having to learn them.... from birth. Any after would be learned.

They have a headstart.... and fictionally there is nothing preventing humans who made them from giving them compelling reason to tackle what challenges normal humans. Namely.... do what they were made for or else! They were not made to just.... take it easy. I am fully aware of all the drama this would cause... but when has technology ever come about without struggle or drama?
-
All technology is based on the accumluated knowledge of those before us. Scenario: Human engineered offshoots designed so that they instinctually have various knowledge bases pre-downloaded in their brains as instinct. If they so desire they know exactly what is needed to say... build a nuclear reactor, even if they only have sticks and stones in the forest Grand scenario: Breed a thousand of these supermind guys and gals... with a working engineering knowledge of ALL known rocket science and theoretical rocket science... could they build stuff we have not already? My guess is yeah! Since they would be well aware of what has been done, they would be well prepared to improve on it. More than you group of average.... humans who have less memory overall.

What Would Sensors On Scifi SSTO's Even Look Like?
Spacescifi replied to Spacescifi's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Hmmm.... so the original Enterprise was more correct than later versions (see the big dish)? I just assumed satelite dishes were for receiving, not sending? Right? I know virtually nothing about why dishes are special (why not use a bell nozzle dish instead). -
More like they would live or die based on public support? As heavy as they are they will barely be able to walk if they do not get enough energy from the food they eat... and there is no way to steal all that food and eat it too without being disrupted.... since people will fight them. Unlike a normal human being these guys would have to probably eat a ton literally of food or more.... which will make meal time take an hour or hours... since it's a small mouth versus a literal ton of food. Even if they went the grim route of becoming an apex predator it would not ensure they get adequately fed... since unlike mere beasts.... humans won't stop until they put down anyone preying on them. Even if it was a decade ago... they don't have short term memories like animals. They remember.

Whats your favorite game EXCEPT Kerbal Space Program?
Spacescifi replied to KSPBaron145's topic in The Lounge
The less time you have the more picky you become with how you use it. For example, years ago when classical music was 'new' to me I gorged on any bit of music I could find. But after listening to much of it I now only listen to what I like, and what I like... which has the most replay value for me is Mozart's piano sonatas... when played furiously like Beethoven. Mozart sounds really awesome when he is played with the intonation I prefer.... otherwise he can be blaise. Beethoven ironically is too much.... more than I can stand. I mean I get it.... recorded music did not exist so lay bare your soul in musical form.... but now that it does.... I prer mundane Mozart over drama queen Ludwig any day. Life is full of enough drama already. -
Magnetic Blood Artificial Gravity.... Safe-ish?

That settles it then! He has spoken! -
Quick question: What's the first thing that comes to mind....
Spacescifi replied to StrandedonEarth's topic in The Lounge
Beef jerky you say? So long it is sodium nitrate free I am interested! -
You know... the classic vessel that can take off a planet, go to orbit, then lightspeed or FTL jump somewhere else and fly at torchship levels of efficiency in space. In fiction you may see a satelite dish (looking at you Star Wars) mounted on the hull... maybe a few antenna, and that's it. So I am curious to know if that is even accurate at all. It goes without saying that when flying into atmosphere from space you would retract satelite dishes and any other long extending greebly bits to avoid the air damaging them from friction. Because visual scifi has well covered what weapons and engines may look like... but sensors? Hardly.

Magnetic Blood Artificial Gravity.... Safe-ish?
Spacescifi replied to Spacescifi's topic in Science & Spaceflight
What you are saying is the acceleration would not be even but rather that it would increase at the toes near the floor and decrease on the way up? And I mean using magnet levels we can actually reasonably achieve. I mean literally pumping the blood with iron particles, enough that a body can be magnetized. A long time ago as a bored teen I managed to magnetize a bug with iron rust. So much was on him that it became trapped inside his joints, and therefore his rear end was literally magnetized. It was kind of fun watching a magnet pull a living creature back as it tried to flee... but I also feel sorry for it.... died for science (repeated slamming into a magnet is lethal). -
Just curious if it would be possible to magnetize blood by increasing it's iron content? Thereby allowing a magnet to induce force on it to simulate downward gravity? Now I reckon nowadays doing that would lead to irreparable cancer risk and damage... but with futuristic advanced technology such could be used in theory to mitigate or even fix any damage done. Main question... I reckon it could work... but one would want to wear electro magnet shoes so they do not get stuck to the floor, or else be forced to turn off the floor magnet. Thoughts?

Ironically hulk almost has an advantage due to having more mass to spread out his waste heat..... which is totally nulified by the fact that he has an even higher energy output than wondy at times. Same result.... a sweaty hulk who would be on the verge of fever death without drinking water regularly or cooling down. And by the way, as dense as both hulk and wondy are, touching them would be like touching a statue, their skin won't budge unless THEY poke it themselves. By the same token if either one fell on you.... you would utterly crushed like a ton fell on you. Sadly..... a super like this could never enjoy a massage.... unless it was done by heavy machine designed for massage. Nor could they use chairs or cars or.... anything designed for normal people... they woukd crush all they sat upon. Their life would require a lot of catering to their.... special needs.
