  1. Sounds like you guys are being very tactical about developing features that serve a purpose and are keeping scope creep in check. Great job! Also... the music is amazing.
  2. It would be cool to have floating "blimp" colonies for bodies with very thick atmospheres like Eve or Jool. I'm only expecting surface anchored colonies and space colonies though, as those have been the ones shown.
  3. I had a pretty extreme version of this happen when anchoring, rebooting the game, and then coming back to the anchored base via the tracking station. v1.12.3.3172 on Ubunto 20.04 on Mar 18 2022
  4. These beautiful explosions will motivate me to properly de-orbit my space debris. That way I can appreciate all your pretty explosions even for successful missions. It is also good motivation to role-play as a good space steward.
  5. This is how you enable the proprietary Nvidia drivers in ubuntu 20.04: Search for "Software and Updates" tool or run "software-properties-gtk" from the command line In the "Ubuntu Software" tab, make sure that the "restricted" and "multiverse" boxes are checked (note: you may not actually need "multiverse", since the "nvidia-driver-390" package is part of "restricted"). Run sudo apt-get -y update Close & re-open the "Software and Updates" tool Click on the "Additional Drivers" tab if it's not open already Select the desired driver. For me nvidia-driver-390 worked while neither nouveau nor nvidia-driver-510 worked. If you still don't see nvidia-drover-390 as an option, try "sudo apt-get -y install nvidia-driver-390". The proprietary drivers were always visible for me so I never needed to do this step manually. Note: some other Ubuntu users have reported being able to use nvidia-driver-510 without issue, but it didn't work for me. I'm using an Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 if that helps.
  6. I'm really hoping that KSP2 has steam achievements, and that one of them will be "return a kerbal from the surface of Eve". I did this in KSP1 but it was a huge (fun) struggle that consumed my weekends, all free time, and 6 failed Venera spacecraft. The whole time I was like: dang I wish I could just build a launch pad on the highest peak! Well guess where I'm building a colony in KSP2... Anyway, while Eve will still be challenging, the colony buildings and enhanced engines will probably demote Eve from "the final boss" to simply "really hard". I was thinking... if Ovin has an atmosphere, it may become the same monster that Eve was in KSP1. To be fair, we've only seen a few celestial bodies so the new "Super Eve" may be unrevealed or non-existent. It may be possible that Ovin fills a completely different role - maybe it doesn't have an atmosphere or is so huge that nothing is expected to reach orbit from the ground.
  7. Agreed. These days most people use discord, teamspeak, or whatever. The scope of KSP2 is already huge and adding voice chat seems like a lot of work/risk that isn't necessary. Some support allowing a push to talk keypress to be passed to other applications, or creating a good windowed mode seem like better ways to enable communication in multiplayer. That said, if KSP2 already had these features scoped in early and if they're basically done, I won't complain!
  8. I agree that it would be nice to have some minor way to visually distinguish the two. It could be something as simple as a large crater on one but not the other (which seems scientifically plausible especially for a young system), or even a distinctive lava pattern (an X-shape, a large crescent, or whatever). Other than an aesthetic cue, I like the idea that the two planets are mostly symmetrical for the purpose of orbital maneuvers. Sure, if the player explores one planet, the other may not add much novelty, but by exploring any one of the pair you'll still get plenty of unique aspects like the tidal lava or seeing the other (very large) planet in the sky. Another way to think about it: If you were to merge the surface area of Rask and Rusk into a single sphere, would you explore all of it? Probably not. Consider a body like Duna, a player may explore the northern hemisphere and not feel the need to explore the south since it's largely symmetrical. That said, I think having a few easter eggs on each or some unique science biomes (or whatever system KSP2 uses) would be a nice motivation, but this doesn't really require unique visuals.
  9. The last video in Dev Diary #12 shows a red star, so this seems to strongly indicate that there will be a variety of star types in KSP2. I can't describe how excited I was to see that red star!
  10. Always wished there was a "Return from the surface of Eve" achievement for KSP1. Would still like it in KSP2 but the new engines may make this less impressive.
  11. I had a similar issue with KSP v1.12.3 on Ubuntu 20.04. The solution for me was to go the the "Additional Drivers" tool in Ubuntu and set the Nvidia graphics driver to "nvidia-driver-390 (proprietary)". Note: the most recent proprietary driver didn't work.
