ScanSat Mk1 Let's scan Minmus! A mysterious payload is delivered to Space by a simple rocket. What is it? It's a Scanning Satellite! On its way to Minmus, the game starts to get extremely problematic so I needed to do one or two other burns to get a true Mintmus encounter. Finally, after all these physics problems, we are in Minmus orbit. Now that our orbit is a polar orbit... Minmus has a new paint job! Perfect — there's plenty of ore on a great flat! We then have to scout the area more precisely to determine where exactly is the better Ore concentration.

What if some people coded a game similar to KSP? What do you want, or not, to be inside? What do you suggest? What are you thoughts? Well, you can answer here. What would the best KSP be? I think the ultimate KSP would have to store each vesel twice: one version that is the one that flies, and another, which does not move and is fixed, and updates (removing or adding parts) when the version that flies does (but NOT moving or rotating the parts!). This way, the parts' coordinates are stored twice: once at their exact positions relative to the origin of the ship (like it is in the VAB/SPH), and once in the "flying vessel" where they are stored as they are in-game, rotated and moved if the ship moved turned, etc. Plus, the ship's current rotation (relative to the one it has in the fixed version) is stored somewhere and updates every time the ship rotates. At every reload of the ship, a copy of the fixed version is rotated so that it has the same rotation as the ship, and the positions and rotations of all the parts of the "flying" version are updated to those that are stored in the rotated copy of the fixed version. That way we don't have gaps between the parts or random rotations of the parts (due to floating-point rounding) with ships that made 57 times the journey from Jool to Kerbin (or the ones that have flown a lot of time). Maybe I'm not clear, don't worry (that's normal), if you need some explanations simply reply

Science! Mk7 — 4th flight (part 2) Bye Mun! Hello Kerbin. I had to make three high-atmo passes before properly reentring. Here we go... First TryTM Look at all that Science! Let's research the refineries. We need these for our future refuel bases! Next, we'll find a good place for a mining base — somewhere on Minmus where there is plenty of Ore.

I put two of them, it's going Mach 2.5, but it's still not a SSTO... *sigh*

Randomly changing orbit during time warp
Nazalassa replied to king of nowhere's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Got the problem four times today! That's getting annoying. In the ideal KSP, this wouldn't happen. -
Science! Mk7 — 4th flight (part 1) Let's go to Mun to get some Science! Normal launch, etc. Mun maneuver Arriving at Mun: this time, Val decided to do a Suicide burn. ...and we're landed. Don't forget we've come here for Science! Bob having fun with a Mun Stone. Look at all the Science! This mission has not much screenshots, by the way.

Science! Mk8 — Yet another mission (part 2) *catching the Raft in high Minmus orbit* Here we go Say goodbye to the little ship! Setting some maneuvers... ...wait, what? AH! That's the Science! Mk6B, remember it? While it was still under control, I put in on an encounter with Duna. It arrives now! So that's Duna... Man, that's so red! Anyways, back to the Raft. This time I had to make 24 passes in high atmosphere. It seems that the Kerbals overheat due to heat transmission between the heat shield and the seats. Then, I quicksaved. 25th pass is the final. In the first and the second try the Kerbals blew up; this is the third: My, this is hot. But finally... We landed in the mountains! Well, the mission's finished. Now, we can fly the Science! Mk7 to Mun, for even more Science!

Science! Mk8 — Yet another mission (part 1) Normal rocket launch, etc. Orbital insertion burn Minmus transfer maneuver Arriving at Minmus (for some reason the game completely messes with the patched conics during time warp) Intersect Target spotted! And I decoupled the Raft before putting Kerbals in it (last time I decoupled it after and the Kerbals were somehow projected away from the Raft)... I then thrusted Retrograde (relative to target), which was the direction in which the Raft went after being decoupled... Screenshot taken just after the Raft destroyed half the solar panels at 8 m/s... Wow. Imagine peacefully maneuvering when, zoom! something passes just next to you and destroys half your solar panels. Anyways, Tifel and Lanler has been transfered to the new Science! Mk8. Time to catch the Raft!

Karganien Mk1 (again) Here we go: supersonic intake! Doesn't go fast enough Now with two engines! Here at max speed and altitude. That's better, but still not enough for a SSTO. BAH! Let's do something else, we have a Science! Farm, if we wait long enough we'll have enough Science! to get the next node with better engines. Wait, we still have our two Kerbals waiting in high Minmus orbit... Let's send some rescue!
-
Science! Mk7 — Yet another mission (part 2) Still on Mintmus. Hopping to another biome (I hope it won't be Minmus' Lowlands) OK, it was! Back to Kerbin, as I already made Science! in Minmus' Lowlands. Some maneuvers Hello Mun! Here we go, let's aerobrake! Using the remaining fuel That thing's better at reentry than the Raft from Science! mk8! Then it landed in the mountains, and started rolling downhill, and then exploded. F9 ! This time I've aimed better: the Ocean is flatter than anything else. Let's not forget the Science! Yay! More Science! for the Karganien Mk1's better intakes! Let's add those better intakes and see how far it can fly.

Do you have a screenshot that makes you laugh every time?

Randomly changing orbit during time warp
Nazalassa replied to king of nowhere's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm afraid no, because I got the exact same issue today with an unmodded KSP. -
Dude, you don't have to go to Duna to get blueberries. You can buy them at the store, they'll be cheaper.

The Kerbal who crashed the big, fat, giant rocket built by the team of seven interns at the KSC who ate corned-beef and stew for breakfast went to the Administration building to explain how the said rocket was destroyed of a point of Kerbin which was near a baobab tree and was covered with thick, green grass, and is now a giant smoking crater, and why he was still alive, and to ask why this rocker has only seven lateral liquid fuel boosters in an asperagus staging instead of the eight there should normally be; to which Gene answered that it was because one intern hasn't come back from vacation on the Katinek Mountains even if he had to, and that each intern had to make a booster so that each one will be paid the same amount of money for their hard work; he also said that the next rocket will be built by normal engineers from the KSC, and that the next rocket wouldn't crash on Kerbin but instead be sacrified to the mighty Kraken God on the Enormous green planet that's names Jool.

Science! Mk7 — Yet another mission (part 1) The rocker is a slightly modified Science! Mk7, which has a seismometers an three Kerbals (instead of two). Each Kerbal has one of the three components of a deployed Science! cluster (control station, solar panel, experiment) so that one more contract will be completed. They have no Jetpack... Launch, etc. We're in a "waiting orbit". I actually got some problems with the maneuver node and the patched conics, so I relunched the mission (this is the second launch). A little adjustment to get an encounter... Here we are! After the capture burn, Val tries to aim for that purple waypoint. It was placed during one of the Science Mk8 missions with Kerbnet, as Kerbnet said that "here it's a flats biome", and we haven't done Science! in that biome yet. That's flat. Everyone's looking around in the pod... Hey everyone! Look at the instruments and the controls instead! Science! from Mintmus' Flats after the landing. I used to go back to the pod with the Jetpack after an EVA with the Science! Mk8, but the Kerbals have no Jetpacks. Fortunately, this works! And the Science! is deployed for the contract. Good job everyone!

Karganien Mk1 — Tests Some new contracts... Comet finding and Science! deploying. Let's try to make a SSTO! Here are the crew cabins. And here's the finished thing! It doesn't fly well. Exactly what we need! Here's the new crew cabin. (economy class!) It flies well! However, the intakes we have aren't optimized for supersonic flight, and the craft didn't went faster that 290 m/s. That's not good for a SSTO! It's still cool Now we need that intake. And to get it we need Science! Let's fly the Science! Mk7 to Minmus to get some and complete some contracts!

Well, in fact it's Sandbox, but I have too many projects to do (TSP, Elcano Challenge, etc.) so I had to stop one of them to concentrate on the other. The time budget is very limited!

Well, I'm not sure of that... I'll try.

Forgot to say, but I tried to make a SSTO with an Economy class. It works well, except that it can't go supersonic, and I need Science! to research these stuff. I think I can add more seats! That'll be nice for touristic missions.

When I play Career, I generally start by making all the Science! I can at the KSC, then go suborbital and orbital. After some contracts, I generally either do a lot of touristic missions or I send some probes ands Kerbals to Mun and Minmus (and I always start with Minmus). I do a lot of these missions to bring back a maximum of Science! and to start to create a network of ships (orbital stations, bases, shuttles, SSTOs...) in the Kerbin System. After doing all that, I sometimes do the maximum of contracts within the Kerbin system, before being full of money and using it to create a network, first to Eve and Gilly, and Duna and Ike, and then to Moho and Dres, then to Jool and Pol and Bop. Then I do some contracts! If I don't do that, I try to complete the tech tree. What about you?
