So are we going to have to be a unmanned space agency? (also I doubt Kerbals can be scared of space but well... that's beside the point)

Good idea but just a little bit unrealistic. Like why would you waste that many eggs and how many would you need to cover the area? And how would you spread them. How are you going to make sure they don't crack on landing.

The problem is we don't know if aliens would be friendly or un-friendly or not even conscious about their death. We could just steamroll over them like hundreds of other species on earth, but we don't do that on purpose, we don't want to but at this point modern civilization needs it until someone updates the thing.
