  1. can we get a look at your SIVb engine plate? i'm itching to try this out myself and that concept art is hard to read
  2. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ace-combat-jpeg-dog its the same picture is all lol. fun coincidence i guess.
  3. oh hey i can ask you the question then Is the blue dog a reference to (aside from the obvious) ace combat 7?
  4. i like to imagine there's a guy out there who insists on playing RSS x10 in real time also if it's not too much to ask, in 1.15...could we get an LM Mass Simulator and SLA truss A La Apollo 8? sometimes you just wanna orbit the mun
  5. Decided to send up an Atlas SCORE just for kicks. Had to fit it into my comsat nomenclature so we went with this.
  6. I will say i love the tripropellant idea purely on the notion of "this is insane lmao" but it also seems like kind of a lot of work for just a gag? I don't code or model or texture though so i couldn't really say
  7. Just tried the new cfg and it works! Thank you! weirdly it also happened with classic ascent profile, i haven't tried that with the new cfg though because, well, i don't use it that much.
  8. TIKSP I...built a 1960s re-imagining of the Ares I-X. And it actually worked very well which made me furious. Ended up circularizing with the CSM burning like, 200m/s? It worked really well, which is kinda funny, because i was making fun of the Ares I-X to my friend when i made it.
  9. So the autostaging wasn't the issue, it's that the guidance would never kick in. Turning off autostaging was the first thing i tried, it didnt' change that. MJ shows up like this with the inline And this is what happens with the radial (and pretty much every normal launch) Again, i don't want to add substantially to your workload for something i did to poke fun at the Ares I-X as a joke , and usually when i use the AJ (and i do use the AJ) it's as a radial booster, so this isn't a real big problem for me.
  10. I'll check that out. Don't worry about it too much. this isn't something i plan to use on the regular. I mostly did it For The Bit.
  11. More on this bug, it seems to affect the inline version of the AJ-260 but not the radial version. It affects both the half-length and full-length Inlines. Tested full and half-length radials (using them as inlines) and it does not occur with them. I don't know enough about how to dive into part cfg files to figure out what's happening, so i'm letting you guys know.
  12. so, bit of a bug, the abomination does not like to play well with mechjeb. For some reason mechjeb doesnt' recognize it's lifted off and thus won't engage. even staging to the S-IV and the apollo CSM doesn't do it. Infuriatingly, hitting abort will engage the autopilot. It's definitely the AJ-260 (dev branch, inline, full length) because i did it up with a UA1208 and it works fine (and looks even more absurd)
  13. What do you get when you take 70s NASA parts and use a 2000s NASA brain to put them together? well, you might get this, i call it The Abomination. A single AJ-260 SRB for the first stage and an S-IV for the second to yeet an apollo capsule to LKO. Abomination: because the S-Ib was too reliable EDIT: I'm a dork and forgot to put the pictures.
  14. This is straight-up a "how to" question and i apologize if it's been answered elsewhere The solid shutdown thing (great feature, highly acceptable break from reality) is giving me a little bit of trouble with the IUS. Seems that using it for stage 1 automatically kills stage 2. I'm assuming there's an action group workaround for this but i'm not sure what that workaround is. Is it just "stop engine"? EDIT: I should really stop asking questions before I try the solution i imagine will work
  15. According to Ignition: An Informal History of Liquid Rocket Propellants by John D. Clark, Rocketdyne tested a Lithium/Flourine/LH2 tripropellant rocket in the 60s, and it got an impressively high ISP of 542s.
  16. I mean yeah but even without the flourozine my comsats end up with about 700-1000 m/s dV post-circularization in HKO (vs about 1200 for the fluorozine) (also i know fluorozine is the opposite of how it should be but hydrafluor doesn't sounds as cool. Zs make things cool)
  17. Does using fluorozine give me a real advantage? no. but, counterpoint, rocket plume green Also, dev branch seems to load and run much faster than 1.13. Impressive.
  18. In the dev branch w/ the hypergolic patch the Titan I first stage tanks both default to hypergol despite the TI using kerolox. Sorry if its a known issue. Also might be my setup which is...super janky atm. EDIT: this is definitely an issue with my sloppy installation, please disregard
  19. Didn't take pictures but jeb survived his first X-15 flight. His X-15 didn't survive the flight, but Jeb did, and that's what matters. Maybe next time Jeb will figure out how to properly kill velocity before he hits the troposphere
  20. I end up restarting my save file about once every three weeks anyway. its like back when i used linux. i expect things to break so i don't get too attached
  21. ope. i'm dum re: the doppler (i assumed it was radar ranging.) I'd brave the dev branch but i don't know how to download it lol.
