  1. Wow... Maybe that's possible, but it looks like in the meantime it has been pulled completely! D: Haven't seen anything from the mod creator (DEADBEEF) since the forum crash, so it's possible it's just gone. If that's the case it really sucks because folks had worked out the minor fixes needed to keep it working in .20. Guess it's a good thing I keep all the original downloaded archives, because it would really blow if Squad doesn't implement this function in the next couple of updates...
  2. They will arrive shortly after the kaboom, triggered by the illudium Q-36 explosive space moderator. *may not be representative of an actual mod
  3. Ah but at least we got to have a few laughs first. Good times... good times
  4. Ceiling Cat is watching you automate. ....sinner
  5. You can start a new ship with parts other than a capsule now. Using this, it's possible to more accurately control the hierarchy of parts order. In other words, each part you bring in becomes the next in line of succession for the role of "root" part. Pulling the assembly from the first part makes the next part in line the root. This is demonstrated in the video below, where I throw together a quick and dirty "ship" starting with a decoupler, save it (which is possible because the root part -the decoupler- has an open node), import it to another vessel, mount it, then go back and pull the decoupler. Notice how the ship now snaps back in place on the nose of the capsule? Even if I hadn't added the engine at the tail, the open node back there wouldn't count as a valid root node, because the fuel tank isn't the root in this case; the capsule is. It all comes down to the order in which you build your initial assembly that you want to import elsewhere. It doesn't matter what part is initially the root part, so long as it's first in the order in which you brought the parts onto the ship, AND it has an open attachment node. Does that make sense?
  6. I'm not seeing any irony here. What I see is somebody who feels their way is the only way (which is certainly your right for your own style of play), but to call it a "moral" is a bit... what's the term... ego-centric? MechJeb and its ilk exist because there's a demand for them. Nobody is forcing you to search for it, download it, install it and use it. Crying out publicly that it's wrong and "against the rules" against a (vast) majority that feels otherwise is not only pointless, but also as has been pointed out many times, redundant. It can also be interpreted as the stance of somebody who has tried it, couldn't figure it out, and summarily written it off as some kind of illegal activity so as not to have to face their own ignorance and/or lack of willingness to learn. Given the level of irrationality I watched unfold with the .20 update, I could easily be swayed to believe the latter.
  7. "Flamey"? Really? You can't take any of this in good humor and read between the lines to get the real point of it all? Here we are even bashing on ourselves and you want to call it flaming. *sigh* Guess the entitlement crowd doesn't only lurk on Facebook. (amidoingitrightyet?)
  8. Well, technically I didn't have to use the computer to partake in said fun. Had I been feeling a bit more honorable (which lack of coffee does not encourage), I could have just sat back and watched everybody else's shenanigans instead.
  9. Well, since the introduction of zoning laws, most of the trolls were forced to integrate with society and get real jobs. This of course didn't sit well with their sour nature, so they took what comfort they could by joining the Information Superhighway and causing an uproar wherever they could.
  10. I would just like to step aside from this (admittedly very silly and redundant) topic for a moment to thank you lot for the most humorous and entertaining morning I've had in quite some time. <3 Now, we may return our regularly scheduled (and thinly-veiled) trolling.
  11. Well, it is one of the (extended) Commandments, after all. "Thou shalt not cause butthurt by abuse of thy convenience options!"
  12. Oh no, I said "airlines" not "airplanes". http://www.virginballoonflights.co.uk/
  13. Nope, that's transmitting information by-proxy and therefore cheating as well! You get up off your lazy butt and visit the rest of us users in person to tell us your opinion! I'm getting started on that right now. Unfortunately, I'm using a computer to buy the airline tickets but it's the last time I touch the keyboard, I swear!!
  14. Well, to be fair, they did do it with computers less powerful than even the cheapest and most basic throwaway cellphone on the market today... I'll bet the crew of Apollo 13 were pretty on-board with cheating as they struggled just to get back home, too.
  15. Oh, and one more thing: What's currently one of the popular kinds of crafts to build in this game again? Was it... SKYCRANES? Where did that come from, I wonder? Oh yeah, that's right.... A dirty, cheating, AUTOMATED flight control system. I promise you: there was NO pilot, green or otherwise, behind a stick controlling that particular piece of baddassery.
  16. In which case somebody should ban them from the game immediately! Meanwhile, while you get right on that, I shall continue to enjoy the results of such deplorable buggery
  17. It's all about scale. Some are a bit over-powered in comparison, sure, but I'm okay with this if it means it's easier (and more fun) to bring sleek beasts like this wherever we like.
  18. Being able to fly a spaceship in real-time at any distance beyond LKO is cheating! It's unrealistic and game-breaking! You're all dirty, filthy CHEATERS!! I'll be joining the rest of you in the corner just as soon as I Post Quick Reply....
  19. Its plan is to take hi-def panoramic photos of your fingernails, before systematically (and automatically, I might add) removing them until you admit it's just as valid a system as any other. (Afterward an in-depth analysis of your fingernails will be sent to NASA. You need more protein in your diet, apparently).
  20. *ahem* it is scripted. All of Curiosity's exploration functions are performed via code that was developed earth-side and then radioed up to it. Do you honestly think they drive the thing around in real-time despite the roughly 24 minute round-time command/response cycle? Curiosity has a team of folks who monitor what it's doing, (well, what it did about 12 or so minutes ago at least), but the actual exploration it's doing is done almost exclusively through programming updated and uploaded on a regular basis.
  21. Would like a word with you about your claims of automation systems being a form of "cheating".
  22. Apparently they're not really doing it right unless they're playing fast and loose with real lives as easily as we do with our Kerbals.
  23. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Different mods let the player shortcut different things that are otherwise tedious for a player. Shoot, even the parts packs are a similar thing, allowing the player to have these cool extra parts without having to go through all the work of learning how to develop and balance their own parts in the first place! As an aside, I am honored to have been chosen for your sig line! <3
  24. Sure, until you try to expand your experience with the game by introducing asteroids. At first it might be a fun challenge to try to launch those and see how far you can get with them, but what about beyond that point? What if you want to try experimenting with having your own asteroid belt to mess around in? Do you really want to be forced to launch a hundred or more asteroids out beyond Duna? Again, HyperEdit is just another means to shortcut an aspect of the game that might be causing a dwindling interest, thereby helping to keep the game enjoyable in a player's eyes.
