  1. Hi there, interested in this mod. I don't use Mech Jeb, and also never used any of the other rendezvous mods because they assume a level of maths that I simply don't have. In all honesty, how useful would this be to someone who doesn't consider the 'numbers and angles' for flight. Will I understand this?
  2. How I do this without any maths: Get into a circular orbit, slightly smaller than Duna's, time warp till the planet appears to be near enough next to your ship on the map view, then burn prograde to increase your orbit until the conics system predicts a SOI change. Takes a while but it works.
  3. Bro-Tip, use your RCS to fine tune that last bit of distance out
  4. Hey guys, just my 2 cents as a non modder. The site here is not all that unusual. Another game I play, " Mount and Blade" has a very active modding community, that has a great history in allowing reworked mods so long as they credit the author. They also have a sub section called "Open Source Mods" specifically for this reason. Each major mod get's it's own subforum, in which submods can be added freely, and are encouraged. In particualr there is a fantastic mod there called "The Floris Mod Pack" which is essentially a compilation of all the best mods, rebalanced to work together. If you get a chance head over to their forum on taleworlds to take a look.
  5. a map view monitor would be an amazing addition, it would mean potentially you could do most of a flight without leaving the IVA
  6. Hey guys, I do quite well on KSP, have landed on both moons numerous times (without Mechjeb) and even landed on Duna yesterday, before taking off and landing on the moon (Ike?) as well in the same mission. I do all this without any real maths, I just go by gut and most of the time it works out (the patched conics system helps out a lot) Anyway, the one thing I can't do is rendezvous, I know there are all sorts of equations to help you figure this out, but I am just not a numbers guy. The closest I have got two ships is 50km. Can anyone help me, or point me towards a mod that assists in rendezvous? I know there is mechjeb, bt it seems to me that even that assumes a certain level of knowledge that I just don't have.
  7. I just got myself into a similar orbit as Duna, then kept fidgeting with short burns at the AP and PE until a SOI change showed, it's the Kerbal way!
  8. Nova Punch and the Rover/cart mod working fine for me
  9. A nice feature when creating ships would be to be able to number your fuel tanks, so as to choose in what order they drain.
  10. I put one SAS towards the top of my ship, and one towards the bottom. Works fine for me
  11. Hey guys, thanks to your advice I was finally able to do this today. My plane had two atmospheric engines with one fuel tank each, which took me up to 6km. From there they were jettisoned and it was aerospike all the way. I've included pics of the plane, the orbit, and a wing walk in space for your pleasure!
  12. ASAS is the brain, only one per ship is needed. SAS is the muscle, use a few of these in key locations
  13. Ok this is the one thing i haven't managed! I can now land on the moon and minmus, I've even developed a rocket capable of doing both on the same voyage!. But for the life of me I cannot develop a spaceplane that can make it into orbit! If I give it enough fuel, it's too heavy and won't get high enough. Any tips on this would be greatly appreciated
  14. Yeah we have the same saying in Pomtown as well
  15. UNfortunately he has very little jetpack fuel left On the way to the Mun the crazy guy wanted to do a 'wing walk' or some such maneuver. Ground control told him it was nuts, but he said 'What\'s the worst that can happen?' Also the silly superstitious little guy had heard some rumours about Munoliths and magic arches and figured since he was gonna be there for a while, might as well have a wonder and do some sightseeing!. So unfortunately he\'s gotta walk and jump a fair distance!
  16. Sorry I realised I broke your one and only rule and quoted you on it... Anyway, good luck to anyone trying to achieve this. I wouldn\'t even know how to begin!
  17. I just brute force it. Not too much into maths and the like. 1) Fly straight up until you\'re most of the way out of the atmosphere 2)turn to 90 degrees, flat between the orange and blue halves on the navball. 3)blast it. Then just hit m and wait till an orbit appears
  18. ASAS utilises gimballed engines, wings, surfaces and SAS modules to keep your ship on course. Think of it as the brain. What you need is more SAS modules
  19. Hey Chillay, I was having the problem of using up so much fuel on my descent to the moon that I wouldnt have enough to get back to Kerbal. What I do now is have seperate landing and take off stages, so I leave the bottom part of the lander with legs etc on the Mun, and have a small tank and engine left, which is just enough to get me home. If you look on my thread 'Help rescue Halley Kerman' in General there\'s a pic on the first page of my lander on there.
  20. quicksave f5, quickload f9. Yeah I stuck 8 legs on it and came down at <3m/s, still a bit ropey as i landed on a slight slope, but landed it in the end Just got to summon the effort to walk Halley across the Mun now!
  21. Well my navigational skills aren\'t what they could be, Halley\'s got a loooooong walk ahead of him! What do people think of my lander?
  22. The rescue ship lands on the Mun. The new design courtesy of Novapunch. Pictured, see Halley\'s comrade standing atop the lander, scouring the distance in search of his lost friend...
