  1. 1.1 splits the old "infinite fuel" into two. Infinite Propellant and Infinite Electricity.
  2. The Kerbal 5 used to be in an old version of the demo, sometime pre 1.0. It is not any more, Seem to remember it could get to Mun orbit.
  3. The triangle indicates whether you can safely return to the space center (blue) or recover the vessel (green)
  4. Essentialy, what is happening is that since KSP uses symmetrical airfoils, all craft if moving through the air in the default orientation with no rotation on the wings, would produce no lift. The SPH COL indicator therefor assumes a slight Angle Of Attack on the whole craft. with careful use of the Rotation widget you can simulate 0 AOA and make the arrow on the lift marker disappear altogether.
  5. It also happens if the root part of the vessel is rotated 180º in the hanger. If you rotate the vessel so its nose is pointing up slightly it should clear up.
  6. I have not done it with only demo parts, but have made a stock manned solid rocket orbit and landing. It did use a Kickback for the launch and sepratrons for the landing (Splashdown actually, easier to time when you know exactly where the surface is). I do have some ideas though, If anyone has a list of the parts available in the demo I could give this a go.
  7. Monoprop tanks do not have the same mass ratios as LF tanks, the Monoprop tanks all have different mass ratios, the best (2.5m) has 8.5:1, the worst (roundified) has only 4:1.
  8. Red for danger. If your descent exceeds 12m/s (I think, Hard to read that fine on the VSI) it lights up.
  9. Nothing that would make me quit, but it was a long few days waiting for RCS Build Aid.
  10. There are ways. A longer service bay or a Mk1 cargo bay would be required to make this fully workable, as is it is ingress only.
  11. I like that it has this drawback, It is very light, low tech and cheap, It needs some drawback to balance it. Plus it makes you think outside the box, Your design is pretty cool
  12. you get more DeltaV if you burn off the least efficient propellant first. since LF engines are more efficient than SRBs you are correct that when you run both together you should limit the LF rather than the SRBs to your desired TWR.
  13. Persoanlly I hate Science mode, and the Science mechanic in general, so on the rare occasion I foray into career, I will usually hack in science and just play with mission and funds. It used to be bette4r when part test contracs gave lots of science. A mechanic where part testing was the way to unlocking new parts would be better.
  14. I would really rather not, have such a map included. DeltaV maps are not that useful and seem to be misleading to new players, if the number of threads like this I have seen over the years is anything to go by. Better to leave it to mods to do something better than to include bad tools, Of course if after the stock DeltaV calculator Squad decided to include a stock porkchop plotter, that would be fine.
  15. With return being optional, your harder-er version is not so difficult I think. Especially since you allow RCS, RCS could really be exploited in this challence Actually did the Mun a while ago with no RCS.
  16. For me, Stock engineers report does notice when I take fuel out of a tank. so maybe it does have something to do with non stock parts Or perhaps non stock fuels?
  17. I Logarithm is the inverse on an exponent. So is Log10 X = Y then X = 10Y For a natural logarithm we use replace the 10 in the above with the constant e Loge is usually written as ln. To do logarithms, use your calculator Isp is a conversion factor, to avoid confusion when exhaust velocity is given in different units, and uses the acceleration due to gravity at earths surface as a constant for conversion. this gives out an answer in seconds which is a unit common to both metric and imperial.
  18. No, you need 950 + 610 = 1560 to go from Kerbin orbit to Dres intercept. If you are orbiting the sun before you establish the encounter you are using a far less efficient method. DeltaV maps aren't really good for anthing more than rough estimates. If you want to plan efficiently use a porkchop plotter such as http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/
  19. That does not seem to be the case. Two slanted nosecones, two straight. The straight ones go straight up. They have different Drag cubes and they also have off-center mass
  20. Digging through some old saves, I found my take on the Steerwing from a BSC challenge. Switched some things around to make it a vertical launched TSTO spaceplane. Steerwing D47c
  21. For what it is worth, my last entry already uses one stock exploit (not counting the command chair in a service bay), although I am not the first to use it in this challenge. Without it I would still hold the record, but only just. If it were to be combined with the launch clamp offset...
  22. The Mobile Processing lab also has these, the Cupola has ones that look like they should be even more useful. the Z4k battery too. All should be made useable
  23. After several kerballed attempts filed to stop on the runway and just rolled into the ocean anyway, I decided to take the wheels off and try a pure distance run. 167,235m
