  1. Is there still support for the old MJ pod with its legs and shield and engines? You can see it in the pictures here. It had a spherical pod, heat shield, landing legs and engines. It used to be part of the MJ package a long time ago. I used to love it for long-range recon. Anyone know where I can find it? and/or if it still works?
  2. I tried tweakscale but it doesn't work with Pteron. I think it's mostly for fuel tanks. At any rate, I don't think it alters crew size, which was the point in the first place.
  3. I followed the instructions of that post, but the parts still don't show up. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'd like to find something that has the files already properly prepped, because clearly I'm missing something critical (and probably simple).
  4. I'm trying to get this configured for 24.2 I have all the files, does anyone have them arranged so the whole thing works properly?
  5. Just edited the config. I don't know enough about modding to do a whole new thing. About all I can do is tweak code that other people wrote. It's kind of like downloading an image of the Mona Lisa, then using microsoft paint to give her a mustache.
  6. I tried that in certain spots and it wound up losing the parts entirely, I had to restart from square one. Have you done this before? It's just a matter of scale-up and tweaking a few values. It seems like it should be simple. I wasn't expecting to encounter this kind of thing.

Anyone know what's happening to cause the following: I'm playing around with the rescale settings on a couple of parts (Pteron fuselage and wings and a couple of others) It looks fine (bigger) when I load the parts in the VAB, looks fine when I'm on the runway or on the pad, but if I go back to the space center, and then return to the ship, the parts have shrunk back to their original size. It only seems to affect command parts though (the wings stayed big). Any ideas?
  8. I'm sure this idea has already occurred to many of you, but I decided to play around with scale and settings. I just changed a couple of things and here's what I got. It's by no means original, nor is it fully developed (I need to tweak a lot), but I thought it'd be fun to see a different scale. I tried to get a KSO in the shot, but when I tried to start my game with that mod, it kept breaking (I think from just being so big). It seems to work fine with the bigger docking ring and I've made mine carry 4 kerbals. For what it's worth, I called it the Orca. Anyways, just in case anyone wanted to take a look.
  9. Just took my first flight. Very nice build. I'm much more of an engineer than I pilot and even I managed to bring the thing down in one (okay 2) piece (s). I'm gonna look at some mission architecture with this little guy. I'll be keeping an eye out.
  10. Not sure if I'm missing something. When I download I only get a single .rar file. I put that into the gamedata folder but I can't get the Pteron. What am I doing wrong?

  12. I've come late to the party on this. I've been away from KSP for about 6 months (good to be back). I'm loving this design. So I understand what you're saying here, you've got it configured so you can do a nose-first docking with the Pteron? Attach its nose to a docking port on another spacecraft? If so, is there any alteration to how the nose looks when in that mode? Just not sure that I'm reading this right. The video was cool, but what I know about modding you can put in a thimble. In the mean time, love all the work I've seen from everyone on this thread. Thanks!
  13. Hello All, I've been away from Kerbal for a few months and now I'm coming back. I kept an eye on this mod last year and I'm psyched to see it come to fruition. I saw that a new release was up on the spaceport on 3/27. I am wondering what I need to do to get MechJeb for this as well and if there are any tricks or hints that will make it easier to fly (and land) with MJ. I've seen different MJ's floating around out there so I'm not even sure which one I need.
  14. Cool ideas for the MJ failure mode. I'd be okay with an optional alternate landing mode with a manual descent, but when we go to Mars, it's going to be on automatic. Spacecraft are just too complex to fly without a decent computer for Navigation and throttle control. I'm sure real astronauts did shuttle launch aborts and ATO's in the sim, but to my knowledge, none were ever done in flight. Anyway, can anyone tell me how I can get all MJ modes at the Start of career?

  16. I went in to my files (I have the 136 download) I edited my command modules for the mechjeb interface and changed the unlocks to "Start" rather than their tech box. It worked for the sandbox, but career mode still only had parts of MJ unlocked for flight. I know that's part of the design, but I just want MJ to work for my command pods in career mode with all parts at the start. Some might think that's cheating, but computers controlled most if not all of the first spaceflights, so for me, it's about realism.
  17. I'm trying the build as is, and MJ comes up when I use the MJ part, but otherwise no. Is it supposed to be active for the standard command pods?

  19. I'm late to the party. Been away for a couple of weeks. Does the Lionhead MEM still work in 0.22 and if not, is there a plan to update it?
  20. I floated this a few dozen pages ago. It's too tricky to set up a palette swap for this kind of thing at least for the time being. I'm betting that an enterprising sort of player might be able to tweak the final skin that comes with the kit anyway. Personally, I'm willing to wait for her to come out of the hanger before we worry what name or flag or livery we give her.
  21. This just brings me to an interesting idea. I'm wondering if one could place another shuttle on the opposite side of the ET. Essentially launching 2 shuttles with 1 tank and booster set. With a back-of-the-napkin calculation, I'm betting the task could be done with an extended ET and perhaps packing in 2 boosters on each side instead of one. For the record, I'm not entirely sure what purpose launching a second shuttle would serve (or how the game controls would handle it) but I think it's an interesting notion. Food for thought.
  22. I was curious how progress is with the cargo bay arm. I know helldiver was saying that he wanted a simple arm coming up from the bottom of the bay to grip and release items. Will that be in the first edition, or in later releases?

  24. I've just finished reading all 31 pages of posts. I'm riveted for this mod. It's the best mini-shuttle I've seen to date and I've been keeping an eye out for those. I feel bad that I'm just coming to the party. I know better than to try to suggest changes or make requests at this late date. I was wondering though if the nosecone (which appears to harbor batteries and avionics?) was set in stone or if it would be possible to substitute the nose-cone docking port which is already stock. I'm a fan of nose-first docking for a variety of reasons and I was curious if I had that option with this vehicle. My other question may be better directed at Firespitter. I'm a big fan of being able to swap in a name on the side as was previously discussed. However, rather than having a collection of them with the part, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a setup where a name (or logo or whatever) could be typed (or pasted) in rather than having it be in a catalog somewhere. For that matter, I know there's a lot of sensitive polygons in that area, it may be something that could be moved to the wing in future versions. Either way, love the work and I'll keep watching this space.
