  1. I remember back in the way early days when there was just a handful of parts. The whole install fit on this old flash drive I had. So like any good, productive high schooler at the time I passed it out to everyone, even got it on the school wide F:/ drive. I think it's still there too. Very early version though, free of coarse. Good times. The early ones were always my favorite just because of the sheer amount of mods available at the time. Like I said, just a handful of parts, probably less than a dozen, so if you wanted something then you downloaded it. I remember sitting there for the better part of an hour waiting for KSP to load up. LOADING... LOADING... LOADING... I think the best thing the devs did was add a loading bar XD. Man the old mod parts were great, mind blowing too compared to how simple KSP was then. NovaPunch, C7 Aero Pack. Ugh there are so many more but I can't think of the rest off the top of my head. Oh and game updates. Man that was huge! I was so sad to see the game go feature complete (congrats) because it meant no new awesome stuff. The Mun, Map View, Maneuver Nodes, Docking, OTHER PLANETS?! KSP has come a long way. Although I do miss seeing HarvesteR in the forums as much as he used to be. Not that I ever post anyways EDIT: Does anyone else remember kerbalspaceprogam.net?
  2. Same here. Feels a bit cheaty though, and I can't really justify turning it off since I'd slowly begin to hate myself/my flying skills/my crap designs/my idiotic staging
  3. Hard mode is great and all but it's a bit annoying when one of your engines just decides, "Oh I'm just going to sit here and ignore the big rocket leaving me behind." So how about some form of launch insurance? Like an option in the launch menu or a policy that let's say 'Adds 30% to total cost of the rocket, but grants 70% of value if it suffers catastrophic failure within 3 minutes.' I mean it sucks loosing your .5 mil station chunk/lifter because of a bad stage or miss click sucks. Also along those lines how about, 'Charges 10,000 for each insured building every 30 days. Reduces rebuilding costs by 90%.' I only mention this since it doesn't seem to be under the devs current scope for 0.90.0 (.26? Beta? idk.). Also, anyone see the latest Antares launch?
  4. I'd love to see data storage parts, imagine a couple of 5tb drives strapped to a research satellite. It would necessitate orbital relays for long term satellites. Strap a load of them together for your own Memory Alpha! I assume antennas have a range so storage stations along orbital relay systems would be awesome to design and set up, like a solar infrastructure. Anyway, think batteries, but for your precious science
  5. Research and development is underway in KSP and I from what i can ascertain, it seems to be a tech tree affair. Woo! R&D!! But tech tree? Boo! Joking aside i love to see the march of progress in this games development and i understand its limitations, but as a humble suggestion: R&D should create randomly (or at least pseudo-random) engines and parts, with different tolerances and power. Higher efficiency engines and solar panels, super strong supports, and ultra light tanks and struts should be acquired through refinement and DEVELOPMENT. This should be inversely true. Instead of Mainsail and Poodle engines you'd have a Poodle or Mainsail class engine. Your first iteration of the mainsail (we'll call it the mk1) would be a gas guzzler, or have lower thrust, or both. It could be unreliable. The kinks would be work out through further R&D. Your first XL Solar Array might suck a bit. Your first craft might suck a bit, in random ways. Stats such as Power Production, Power Consumption, Fuel Efficiency, Impact Tolerance, Mass, Capacity, Thrust, ect. could be affected by R&D, gradually improving and effecting other stats until an acceptable balance is reached. Say "I want I an interplanetary craft, I need high efficiency, but thrust isn't as important." So you research for good efficiency as a goal. Or the opposite could be true. Im not saying game breaking stuff here, all of these improvements would be balanced by logic, and things like ultra light, high capacity tanks and fast, fuel efficient engines would take work, dedication and time. But again, these terms are relevant and not intended to be game breaking. TL;DR - No tech trees, real work and custom research goals
  6. The MK2 and MK3 are still unfinished. They've been in since .15. There is a wonderful mod that adds IVA to the MK3, but the MK2 remains untouched. Do any of you guys use these? It seems like a waste in an otherwise amazing game.
  7. I enjoy my debris, its interesting to see bits of old rockets float by. Plus scavenging fuel from the debris field (LKO) is actually really cool. Although my failed aircraft lagged out the launch pad and airfield so it had to go
  8. You can avoid the massive server overload when new updates come out, the new trading card system with steam, and its in your library, but you can have it in your library through the games tab at the top. Personally I prefer the site since I can control the version I have easily
  9. Oh god I completely forgot about the new terrain. Well I need to do some serious redesigns
  10. I'd imagine its similar to "ensign" or "airmen". We replace first names, kerbals replace surnames. Simple
  11. When you start digging up declassified documents on experimental aircraft
  12. If I can fire Kerbals out of a mainsail then I will be VERY happy XD On a more serious note, no resources is a disappointment, but crew management is going to be great
  13. Mines kind of sad actually. My first landing was back in .12 or .13. No EVA and more importantly no multiple ships. So after a whole afternoon of trying and failing (i had no idea there was a quicksave) I landed, upright and on fins. I was so happy until i realized I couldn't actually DO anything other than look at it. So after 20 minutes and about 2 dozen screenshots I took back off and went back to Kerbin. Looking back now I think that's why i never send kerbals back from the Mun...
  14. How about an East India Company style flag. You know the old E I Co, only K S Ag. Maybe a bit more sci-fi Thanks (Imigur's being a ..well.. otherwise there'd be a pic here)
