  1. It's possible, I've done it before, and it does save delta-v. Simplest gravity assist is a Kerbin assist. Eject out of Kerbin's SoI in the Kerbin Radial or Kerbin Antiradial direction. In half a sun orbit, you should re-encounter Kerbin. Do small burns as far out as possible to get the new Kerbin periapsis as low as possible. By going normal or antinormal you can change the inclination change the Kerbin assist will give you, and going radial/antiradial changes the post-assist periapsis and apoapsis. The bits after this take a long time to do. Depending on whether your Kerbin assist put you in an Eve-crossing or Duna-crossing orbit, you can use those planets to assist again. Target the relevant planet, then put down a 0 m/s manoeuvre node. Use the "+1 orbit" button on the node to see closest approaches for later orbits. Once you get a fairly close approach, you can use that manoeuvre node (or one on your current orbit, though you'll have to constantly update the 0 m/s node to keep seeing the changes) to tweak your close approach to whatever you need it to be (for landing, orbit, or making another assist). Eve is very good for assists as it travels fast with respect to the sun, is high gravity, and is inclined. You can shave a lot of braking and inclination change delta-v from a Moho mission by going there via Eve. Basically, gravity assists let you change orbits via patience instead of propellent.
  2. The no-aerobraking-when-unfocussed thing is intended, as is the altitude/pressure at which the game deletes craft. Atmospheric physics range is 22.5km in stock, now, however.
  3. What kind of lag are you getting? Does it increase/decrease depending on looking at the sky/ground? Does it depend on how many parts you use? Does it happen when taking off or in orbit or in re-entry? Since it's a laptop, is it possible it's playing your new KSP install in battery life saving mode instead of high performance mode?
  4. Question, how are you all exiting the game? Via the main menu or otherwise?
  5. Does the braking force change depending on whether steering is locked? I know the big wheels don't have individual steering, but tank steering, but I can't remember if they have a steering tweakable on them.
  6. Please read this sticky thread and post the requested information. We need this information before we can diagnose your issue.
  7. The Hamachi issue is actually an issue with network adapters in general. The solution to which is not to uninstall Hamachi, but to disable all unused network adapters, including things like LAN adapters. This also means the problem is not limited to Hamachi.
  8. Cause the problem, the open the debug menu with alt-f12. Click "Show Input Lock Stack" and post here what input locks are/were in effect, if any.
  9. The download link has been removed until you comply with these rules: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/87841 Specifically, you need to put the license in your forum post as well as the download. Otherwise, you are fine. EDIT: Thanks!
  10. The mystery goo units may be causing more drag than the little winglets at the bottom. This could be remedied by using bigger winglets, or putting the mystery goo inside a service bay. Use movable fins if bigger winglets make you too stable. Sticking closer to prograde will help, and so will using an engine with gimbal (LV-T45 as opposed to LV-T30). Gimballed engine with bigger static winglets should also work.
  11. If you mean that there's an "retract" option in the action groups tab, that's a known bug. It shouldn't actually make the solar panels retract when you use it, though.
  12. Past 1000x is when the thermal model changes to analytic, which means it instantly jumps to the equilibrium temperature. So, despite the odd behaviour, this is intended.
  13. The contract records where the tourist has gone, not where the ship with the tourist in it has gone, so you should be okay. I don't think tourists can EVA, so you'll have to dock and crew transfer them. When you recover a ship, you get funds for all the resources in the ship. If you launched without resources in, mined/refined some, then recovered it's possible you could get a profit from that.
  14. A general tip is to trim as much mass from the payload as possible. This not only gives the lass stage less mass to push, but all of the other stages too. A LV-909 "Terrier" on a FLT-400 fuel tank should be able to take 5 tonnes of payload from Kerbin orbit to a Mun flyby.
  15. A bit late, but I'm here. Niemand303.
  16. Go into the debug menu (alt-f12) and under "aero" turn on the setting that lets you see the drag of each part in the right click menu. Use that to see if and how much the drag changes when you open and close the gear. Screenshots of opened and closed would help, and so would repeating that for all types of deployable gear.
  17. This is possibly caused by the chute being too close to the service bay. Can you reproduce this reliably? Is there a certain set of conditions that will always prevent the chute from deploying? Will a quicksave/quickload combo fix it? Can you reproduce it with a very simple craft on the launch pad? If you can get it to happen again, a .sfs (e.g. a quicksave) would be helpful. A quick skim of the craft file shows it isn't using any fairings or other cargo bays, is this true? Did you use the Offset or Rotate tools at all?
  18. Heading 269 is west, polar would be heading 180 or 0.
  19. Pleaser read this sticky: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/92230-%21%21%21-PLEASE-READ-BEFORE-POSTING-%21%21%21-Stock-Support-Bug-Reporting-Guide and provide the information detailed in there, especially the output log.
  20. This is a known bug which occurs when solar panels are very close to the surface. Although, those seem pretty far up. How far up can you make them before they realise they're on the dark side?
  21. The ablator being depleted at slow speeds is intended because ablation is set to happen according to the temperature of the heat shield, not the velocity. It will keep ablating until it cools down. We'd need more information to diagnose the other two issues - crafts, screenshots, reproduction steps, etc.
  22. It may be because you get science for "recovering a vessel that has survived a flight". Thanks for investigating.
