Yep - read about this today. Glad you posted. Bit sad that the driving force behind the development is weapons delivery, as usual. I could imagine an journos question "so you could use this technology to deliver a heart for transplant from New York to LA in under an hour?". Answer: "Nha, we are gonna be a killin' people with it".

Hmm, I have a pic series I done for the K-prize that mostly-qualifies. It's all stock. However the screenies do not show the resources tab (except one). Is that ok?

I think for partner countries in the JSF development program, it would have been better to purchase Russian hardware (eg. Sukhoi Su-27). It's cheaper, effective, and pretty damn good if your not fussed about stealth. However because of history and alliances, partner countries have to stick with American hardware. High costs are high revenue for defence contractors. Sadly this seems to matter more now than actual defence. Now countries other than the USA are getting sucked in.

Beautiful space scenery-Post your Space scenery here

Jool from Laythe - always popular Tylo has amazing contrasts. I don't know why... if only the Mun looked this good. Polar regions are eery. Here we see Duna peeking above the horizon. -
Hmm, I said like magic builder as in it has no gravity nor SOI. Moonlets would be marked on map view. As for the rings, they would just be a visual effect. Eg...

Perhaps the mod can authenticate against the forum or KSP Store.

I don't know why people assume that belts would have thousands of asteroids or moonlets in them, hence kill performance. I would think you would just use polys with texture & visual effects, and no collision mesh. Then throw a dozen or so asteroids/moonlets of varying size, like Magic Builder.

The game is more CPU intensive from the (single threaded) physics. I don't think a better GPU will help.

How to find the "magic boulder" ?
bsalis replied to InSani7y's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Well, it's not easy. But that just makes it much more rewarding when you do find it. I assume you have landed at one of the poles on Ike. Ok, so, don't bother looking straight up. Magic Boulder is in a polar orbit, but still inclined. Basically, you zoom out from your craft, and swivel around. ... then be patient and observe, and use low-level time warp. Not sure there is much else that can help. I also recommend using quicksave a lot, and you probably want to at least know it's altitude as well (before the chase), but that is up to you. I hope you keep at it. Visiting this easter egg is one of the most challenging experiences in the game. -
Just wondering if anyone else has played around with gliders. I know people have done SSTO spaceplanes, regular powered planes, VTOLs, rovers, and every kind of rocket imaginable. But has anyone done (unpowered) gliders? If you create craft with proper wing angles and proper balance, you can get a plane to glide in a nice big slow spiral dive. I have some pics here of a glider and the tug drone... Next big thing mebe?

I think this is still valid... http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/11322-Different-Conic-drawing-modes

Congrats again Mazlem! It's good after you do this couple of times and feel confident doing it. Since it opens th option of docking smaller craft that don't have RCS, or building small craft without it.
-
I suddenly found I have for a long time not been using RCS ports…
bsalis replied to Cesrate's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You don't need RCS for docking -
Yeah, agree with you. It seems the missing piece of maneuver nodes, or navigation in general. I remember Damion in an interview said that one of the game development philosophies was that all failures could only be attributed to the player. Meaning the game had to provide the information and tools to succeed. Currently aerobraking is mostly guesswork and rule-of-thumb. I *think* such things are planned but cannot ref a firm source.

Poll: Kerbal Space Program's Mun Landers

I docked with Gilly Not sure i'm doing this right -
Accidental Easter egg?

A lot of features lack polish. It's still in development. For me, selecting a target in a crowded orbit is my main annoyance... I really need to just install that mod people keep talking about to deal with that.
-
What Roboray said. Also questions like these can usually be answered by playing around with maneuver nodes.
-
I might try that out. I do have a penchant for exotic browsers.

Where should i aerobrake?
bsalis replied to Nullspace250's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It's dead easy to get an intercept with Laythe using only a very small amount of dV. As soon as you enter Jool SOI, do small burns to set your trajectory to intersect Laythe orbit. Then do small pro or retro burns to change you arrival time to get your encounter. Plan with maneuver nodes as ahead if you want. -
