  1. Our blood's red because of Haemoglobin (which has Iron in it) so it would depend on the chemical makeup of their blood, if something in there is nice and colourful then it'd be that colour presumably.
  2. "The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds given adequate vacuuming systems."
  3. These days we use rRNA from the 18S subunit for phylogenetic trees and similar 'who's the daddy species' type stuff. These are common in all organisms from Archaea to Mammals and everything in between, with common motifs between all organisms, and variable regions that vary heavily depending on the organism's species, family etc, and are used to determine how closely species are related. Different diverging types of rRNA demonstrate common ancestors, not just through mammals but right back to with Bacteria and stuff. No fossils needed!
  4. Thanks for joining us Chicken, it was great to talk to you! And congratulations on defeating the impossible challenge, my jaw dropped when I saw your video go up! I look forward to our next one
  5. Do you think people would want to? I mean, I love animals, and all their different personalities and stuff, but people don't normally 'enter relationships' with animals no matter how well we get on with them. Could that be a general 'species barrier' type thing, that we're only attracted to members of our species? Or is sentience the extra factor needed? I assume some people would do it but would it be that common?
  6. Well in real-world land, you can get hybrids of different species (eg mules, ligers, etc) but these are from pretty closely related species and are nearly always infertile (hope Spock doesn't want kids!) For this to work with aliens they'd have to use the same genetic structure as us (ie DNA) and either the same number of chromosomes or a very similar number, I'm not certain about that. Either way it's super unlikely that they could produce offspring.
  7. Should probably mention so nobody makes the same mistake I did; when T1G says 'Holland' that's a place in America named Holland, not the country i was very confused for a while
  8. I would get in touch with That1Guy, I'm gonna be too busy for a couple of weeks due to irl stuff so he's the man to ask!
  9. haha I heartily recommend it, it's really good fun
  10. I've used it as a name in games for a while now, initially it was because I was cooking dinner while thinking about names, and thought Paprika had a decent ring to it as I was putting some in my food!
  11. Forgot to mention: maybe don't watch it if you're pretty young, contains mild-to-strong language, drinking, and probably other stuff too.
  12. Hi!That1Guy and I had a race to the Mun Arch on a rover, and recorded it all for your (hopefully) enjoyment! There were a few rules like no loading quicksaves or loading previous games (so we had to start from scratch, even rocket designs)but otherwise, first to the Arch won! Here is my perspective: And T1G's is here: Enjoy! I hope you like it! It was certainly fun to do
  13. Nice one! Don't you worry, you'll still be a guy doing a lot of revising when you're a micro student
  14. I'm a microbiology student at uni.
  15. Depending on the virus, it can be extremely unlike how an egg gets fertilised. Bacterial plasmid exchange by conjugation is a much better analogy/potential 'starting point' (so to speak), but even then there are huge differences.
  16. Thank you for everything you've done, and best of luck in all your future endeavours!
  17. Check the dev blogs, they're from a few days ago! It's not dying while we all love, support and play it.
  18. I wouldn't call like 5 devblogs this week 'media silent'
  19. I love this pack, it's awesome! Thought I should let you know I made the video as it's about your stuff so here we go, if you don't like it I'll take it down or whatever. Thanks for the awesome pack!
  20. This happened to me on my first trip to Eve, but the path was headed into it's SOI anyway so I got out and EVA'd down! Managed a landing safely somehow, despite the bonus gravity Eve enjoys.
  21. I thought this was going to be making up Kerbal words about the planets, like Kerbalicious or other smurf-like K-words haha. Can the one for Bop be Bodacious?
  22. Sorry for going off topic there. That picture is gorgeous, loving the space background! Also the fact that the bit in the middle looks like it has windows, a crew module maybe? Exciting!
  23. Yeah, they've only just started looking but they have found bacteria (or Archaea, can't remember) in the cloud layer which is pretty cool. Opens up all sorts of possibilities for other planets holding life!
  24. Today, I mounted a rescue attempt to save a guy on the mun. Using mechjeb to land the ship near him, it had targeted the descent perfectly and the craft was doing its braking burn, when the experimental 'rockets in front of the command pod' design (a fuel tank with radial engines put on the nose of the shuttle looking pod) blew up something important. The rest of the craft hurtled into the surface, wiping out not only the 2 guys there for the rescue but also the broken craft on the ground, the Kerman to be rescued (James) and the original craft's disembodied command pod. As sad as it was that James's beacon of hope landed on him like Jeb's mighty boot crushing the accelerator, I couldn't stop laughing at the whole event.
