  3. Multiple complete LM-7 cores at SAST assembly facility, picture taken late 2012, transported to launch site early 2013. That's pretty standard for maiden launches, e.g. the Angara PP was sent to the site more than a year before launch. It's two hydrolox stages and kerolox boosters, whereas standard Ariane 5 is solid boosters and a hypergolic upper stage. If that's close enough to be a 'copy', then Ariane 5 is a copy of Titan IIIC.
  4. Or it could be more than year, given all you have is pictures of completed rocket stages-like the CZ-7 ones that have been stockpiled near Wenchang for well over a year already. Without giving sources, it's impossible to tell if anything you post is credible, or if it's based on a misunderstanding or mistranslation.

Considerably more capable than Proton-higher Isp upper-stage and lower latitude launch site means over twice the payload to GTO, and even higher discrepancy with higher energy orbits like earth escape. However, it's not, as far as anyone can tell, scheduled to actually launch until 2016. Are you sure this story is about an imminent launch, rather than just delivery to the launch site?

  9. The US has repeatedly launched all-solid launch vehicles from a site in Alaska, and the US and Russia have both launched solid sounding rockets from bases in Antarctica.

  11. If they measured the velocity and direction carefully, and then worked backwards while taking stellar motion into account, they could have a pretty good go. If that does ever happen, that diagram probably won't be accurate by then.
  12. If you gather a large enough concentration for that to be a meaningful concept, it'll cease to be 'this substance'. The resulting polymer is not flammable.
  13. That's orthosilicic acid. Pretty easy to synthesise although difficult to purify, and forms naturally quite frequently (you just need to combine quartz and water). Only stable in solution and at low concentrations, otherwise it'll polymerise.
  14. We've had the Hayabusa 2 launch, and if all goes to plan we should see the Angara A5 and GSLV MK. 3 maiden flights. Not to mention the Polaris launch that did to Kodiak what Antares did to Wallops.

  16. I haven't seen it, and am not planning to. Anything that uses 'the power of lurve!' as a serious plot point isn't worth anybody's time.
  17. They're not really comparable; EFT-1 included a real Orion, and retired a lot of risk, whereas Ares I-X was a cobbled-together Frankenstein of surplus parts that proved absolutely nothing.
  18. Confirmation from the Chinese side that CBERS has entered orbit, exactly as we didn't have last time. INAE declared success without the proper data, and ended up eating a lot of humble pie.

  21. The booster nosecones and overall shape don't match any flying model; it appears to a CZ-5, which isn't even supposed to fly until 2016. I'm curious to see what'll be revealed when the fairing pops off; Chang'e 5? The modular station core?

  23. You need to use internet explorer, or it won't work. ISRO have the same issue with their streams.
  24. Livestreams are rare, but China release video and images of most launches, including the failed CBERS-3 attempt. The CBERS program tends to get a lot of coverage in Brazil, and the site's already been knocked down by traffic once.
