  1. KSP does require a degree of intelligence to play successfully, it's a bit more than trial and error. To line up an interplanetary transfer you do need to understand some quite complex concepts that are central to rocket science. This increased intelligence of the player base when compared to other games could correlate to a lower level of immaturity in the community.
  2. There are also some significant problems with a Moon base, primarily water, and secondly power. The lunar night is half a month long, so solar panels and batteries probably won't cut it. You'll need a nuclear power source, ideally thorium as anything that needs water as a coolant won't be useful at all. With the parameters you've given me, I'd launch large automated rovers that have heavy duty cables running to a thorium powerplant and some empty modules, the rovers are basically construction equipment that simply land and begin connecting modules together. They also cover the modules with dirt to shield them from solar wind when the moon is exposed. Once the base is largely complete and shielded I'd begin sending my astronauts out to settle inside the modules. The base would probably be dug into the side of a crater, with a launch site in the center of the crater and then all the communications equipment on the edge of the lip.
  3. If it could also calculate aerobrakes, as well as dispaying a target on atmospheric and non-atmospheric bodies for where you will impact taking into account atmospheric drag.
  4. Then using say a probe to land on a body using both the data computer and several sensors, plus a communication dish would allow you to transmit data back to Kerbin then allowing you, with an ASAS to calculate aerobrakes and targeted landings on atmospheric bodies on the map screen!
  5. Really great work! You should paint a large rocket launching from the Space Center when 0.21 is released once we see what the new buildings look like!
  6. I'd actually like some parts that make my rockets look like real life rockets. So payload fairings, shrouds, larger fuel tanks, and then some cool modules like the crew tank. So my space vehicle doesn't wobble on takeoff, but rather looks sick like the Atlas V.

The acceleration due to gravity acted upon this "Moon - Moon" leads to it accelerating towards the larger planet on one side and decelerating as it passed around the other side of the first moon, over time the apoapsis will grow and the periapsis will shrink, with either the "Moon - Moon" reaching escape velocity and flinging off into space or plummeting into the Moon. For example, the Lunar module left over in Lunar orbit after returning from the surface in the Apollo 11 mission crashed into the Lunar surface several months or maybe even a few years after it was discarded by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
  8. Why would you want to live in a volcano? What if it erupts On a serious note, probably Laythe as well, because looking up and seeing Jool, and maybe even the other moon's is pretty insane. Though the only moon of Jool I've visited is Vall.
  9. Doesn't appear on the Map View, has a dark surface meaning you can't see even the daylight side, and Kerbals die upon stepping on the surface, for unknown reasons.
  10. So does this NERVA engine rule out any chance of Ion engines? Solar panels would look pretty cool on my space station, even though the thrust sucks.
  11. How about a robotic arm like the one on the ISS, you can use it to bring in vessels for docking. Or you can attach it to a vessel for grabbing debris in space.
  12. I will without a doubt send a probe into Jool's atmosphere to see how far it descends before it implodes, however I don't think there will be even a slight chance of it returning, unless you somehow skimmed it through the upper km of Jool's atmosphere...
  13. Why should it be explorable, we can't and on Jupiter for the same reasons, however Jupiter has some interesting moons just like Jool does. So when you're thinking of exploring Jool, think of the Jool system with it's 4(?) moons. I can't wait to be put some probes down on those moons and some probes in LJO!
  14. You realise experienced players can just do it in the sandbox rather than scenarios...
  15. So, with these tutorials I wonder if there will be any for things such as, interplanetary transfers, gravity assists, orbital rendezvous on top of the simple things like orbital mechanics and Mün landings.

True, now I can send up smaller rockets from the ground and attach them in space , like mounting my moderately large lander on to the front of my interplanetary transport modules, then mounting my interplanetary return stage on the end of that, and then finally mounting my interplanetary transfer stage on to that. That would save me building a huge transfer stage to move my moderately large lander to Duna and then an even bigger transfer stage to carry the interplanetary vessel to Duna and back! Plus with the fuel transfer ability that the developer of this mod is adding (according to Episode 0) I can simply return this stage to Kerbin and then refuel it and swap over to some bigger engines for the trip to the Joolian moons! }[||||]>-O[|||]-[|||]{-[|||]{ ===--------------
  17. Loving the relevance to 0.17 On-topic: Will any of the planets have "amplified" terrain, as in the features dwarf your space craft. There's a valley on the moon that makes your space craft feel incredibly small. It would be cool if there were some really interesting terrain features on planets such as Duna or Eve.
  18. Maybe as a secret feature in this update, but probably not, though it would probably be about the same difficulty to implement as EVA's. Would be pretty cool though. Especially if you could add features like seats to your rover so it can be either robotic or Kerbal piloted. On-topic: Will Duna or any of the other planets have any huge mountains? Like Olympus Mons on Mars. It would be pretty cool to land on and have an awesome perspective from, or to establish a small outpost at the base.
  19. In regards to 3 I think the there was some discussion amongst the Dev's about a FTL drive that can only be used out of system that allows you to warp to other star systems, which I think would be procedurally generating or something. But don't quote me on that.
  20. The first time I tried to get there I simply did a sub orbital flight directly overhead with a vertically launched space plane, then retrograde burn as I approached, my aircraft could easily glide in to land as i can't fly that well it atmospheres either. I'm far better at rocketry.

I'll send unmanned probes to other planets, though I probably won't make a return vessel until docking is implemented, as my machine lags too much with large vessels, so I'll make my vessel in orbit. And definitely Duna, its the easiest planet (not moon) to land on, then I'll visit the Gas Giants moons, and finally onto Eve, with it's associated difficulties, you can land with parachutes, though you have to punch back through a dense atmosphere against a stronger atmosphere to return to orbit...

Yeah, a stock crew module like the crewtank for my transfer vessel to Duna, and if they have physical time warp modes for 2x 5x and 10x implemented then I wouldn't be surprised if this update added an ion engine with super low thrust and high consumption that is so slow to add velocity that it needs 5x physical time warp.
  23. When you say Duna has a thinner atmosphere, is that less dense, or it doesn't extend as high as Kerbins?
  24. With Eve, it has a dense atmosphere so you build a huge take off rocket (just to return to orbit) and use alot of parachutes to safely land it. Then use that large rocket to return your explorers to Low Eve Orbit where they can transfer to a waiting interplanetary vessel.
