I would vote for Bob. Jeb should continue exploring the solar system and not waste his time doing politics.

Great work, thank you for this.

Protractor - Rendezvous Plugin - Under New Management!
zarniw00p replied to mrenigma03's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Great mod, this really helps a lot with interplanetary travel. There's only one little issue: everytime when 2 ships that both are equipped with the protractor rendevouz or land near each other, I can't minimize the Planetary Rendevouz System window. -
That's a very helpful map for designing spacecraft. Are there any estimates how much delta-v it takes to take off from the new planets and moons?
-
First of all 0.17 is amazing, it added so much to the game! for 0.18 I would like to see: docking, everyone's waiting for it better orbital planning with in built protractor rovers things to do on EVA more stock parts (for space stations, etc) maybe the ability to built some kind of outpost on another planet? I don't think that new planets are needed for 0.18. The ones we have now are currently more than enough and I think it would be best if the devs take their time to design really interesting new planets.

[Tutorial] Interactive Illustrated Interplanetary Guide and Calculator
zarniw00p replied to olex's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
In my experience its much easier if you do the transfer burn at a phase angle a bit smaller than the calculator recommends (e.g. 40 instead of 44 degrees for Duna). You can always push up your apoapsis a little bit and wait for the planet to catch up to you. Btw, are there any chances that we will get planet -> moon calculations soon? -
If Duna has enough atmosphere this should be possible. If you're using Mechjeb, the landing autopilot can predict your apoapsis after aerobraking. Just open the landing autopilot window, adjust your periapsis so that your predicted apoapsis reaches the desired orbital altitude, aerobrake, move to your new apoapsis and circularize into your stable orbit. At least with Kerbin this works fine. Aerobraking without this apoapsis prediction is hard, because small changes in your periapsis usually translate into huge changes of the apoapsis after aerobraking.

[Tutorial] Interactive Illustrated Interplanetary Guide and Calculator
zarniw00p replied to olex's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
That's a really nice piece of software. But it seems that your calculator can't calculate direct transfer burns from one planets moon to another planet (e.g. Minmus -> Duna or Ike -> Kerbin). Are there any chances that this will be implemented in the future? -
RIP In memory of the first non-kerbal who walked the moon.

something like this? http://www.chip.de/downloads/MB-Ruler_16688396.html

When you're already in orbit you have to do a plane-change maneuver. Using Mechjeb you have to wait until your satellite is above Kerbins equator and then push either "NML +" or "NML -" in the Smart A.S.S. console and burn until your inclination is at 90° (you can see your exact inclination in the orbital information window). Take a look at these tutorial if you're not sure how to do this. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/15652-Orbital-Mechanics-101-A-Kerbal-Space-Program-Tutorial Plane-change maneuvers are covered in Orbital Mechanics 101 after about 10min. However, plane changing from equatorial to polar orbit needs a lot of fuel. Therefore it's better to direct your launch at 0 or 180 in the first place as semininja has suggested.

You could add fuel lines from the "1" tanks to the "2" tanks and then from the "2" tanks to the middle tank. This will result in the middle engine first using up the fuel in the "1" tanks, then when they're empty the fuel in the "2" tanks and finally the middle tank fuel. That's exactly what I was thinking. We need more colors. Multicolored planets FTW! -

I like the idea of an intensely green colored gas giant. The images in Novas album are nice but seem a little monotone. If you google images of Jupiter you'll see that it's not just brown, but multi-colored with different shades of white, brown, orange and gray. Novas green gas giant is well ... just light and dark green, which is nice but compared to Jupiter it seems to lack a lot of detail. -
As for now, that's probably the best way to do it. But since these angles are such important parameters for precise and fuel-efficient transfer burns I'm really surprised that KSP doesn't give you this imformation directly. I also have not found any mod or plugin that shows you you're current angle. Mechjeb does give you a LOT of information, but as far as I know it doesn't include infos on angles.
-
That's a nice landing module. What I like most about it is that it's relatively compact compared to other stock descend-stage/ascend/stage designs I've seen so far.
-
Would it be possible for MechJeb to display the angle between your spaceship, the planet/sun your orbiting and your target (eg. Moon, Minmus)? To put it another way: for example the current angle between the imaginary line spaceship-Kerbin and the line Kerbin-Minmus. This would help a lot in precise timing of transfer burns and would be especially useful when new planets are added in 0.17.
-
Is there a way to accurately measure your current angle in KSP so you know when EXACTLY to start your ejection burn or do you have to estimate that from the map view?
