  1. Was performing a manned Duna return mission with Bill, Bob, Jeb, and Val. Being their was only 3 seats in the capsule I put one of the kerbals into a hitchhiker module thinking that I could just ferry the extra Kerbal back down to Kerbin once I'd returned. Long story short, I underestimated my fuel expenditure and my only option was to either ditch the hitchhiker (extra weight, no heat shield on hitchhiker) and just barely get an aerocapture into Kerbin via rcs, or go dancing off into space because I wouldn't have enough fuel to circularize. Needless to say one Kerbal wouldn't be returning home. Jeb bravely took on the task, and is now orbiting for eternity in solar orbit.
  2. I suppose it probably was the struts that fixed it. Honestly never came across that problem before. Anyways I flew the design to Duna, landed, and returned to Kerbin without issue. All is well now!
  3. I think I may have solved it, though I'm still not sure of the cause. I did a quick rebuild of the "mock-up" and attached struts to the docking port on the other vessel. I'm not sure which fixed it but it's flying fine now. Now I'm gonna actually put the finishing touches on the "real" lander and hopefully it'll work the same.
  4. Hi everyone! I usually don't post in the forum much, but I've run into a problem that's driving me a bit crazy. Now I'm not new to KSP I've been a player since I bought .13 way back when. However I can't for the life of me figure out this Duna interplanetary transfer vehicle I'm trying to design keeps rotating in orbit when I throttle up the engine. As you can see below it's docked to a "mock-up" lander similar to the one I plan on using. Through testing I've found that if I undock, the vehicle flies just fine, but while it's docked it rotates. The SAS isn't keeping it stable, and I've checked to make sure I hadn't accidentally set a trim in my game. I even tried it with multiple engines (was testing to see what would be the best to use for the flight to Duna) and they have the same result. I have noticed that if I shut the SAS of it takes more time for the ship to start rotating oddly enough. I'm really at a loss as to what's wrong with the design, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I was lucky enough to get a foil Jebediah card. I was so happy and to be honest I'm probably not going to sell it.
  6. I brought my crew back from their months long shift on my space station because I felt like the little guys deserved to have a break before .20 . Luckily the station carried over to .20 so I can send a new shift up now
  7. Thanks guys! I'm really happy with how the DIV performed for the mission. I think I'm going to set my sights on Jool's moons next. I need to make a new vehicle though as this one doesn't have the necessary Delta-V.
  8. Hi there everyone Recently I've successfully landed my manned flight on Duna for the first time. I'm so happy to have made it this far in ksp and look forward to reaching the other planets. Anyways my spacecraft consisted of two vessals docked in kerbin orbit. The interplanetary portion called the DIV (Duna Interplanetary Vehicle) and the lander. Here they are docked together in Duna orbit (as you can see I included a hitchhiker module with it because i thought the capsule would be a little cramped for the kerbals on such a long trip :-)) The lander entering the atmosphere Landed successfully (I'm sorry for not having pics of it whilst landing but I forgot in the excitement of the moment) Unfortunately the engineers at ksp forgot to put a ladder on the lander but its okay that's what EVA packs are for(well not really but it worked) After Jeb takes the first steps Bill and Bob join him. They all smile for the camera! The lander later takes off into Duna orbit and rendevous with the DIV Heading Home! Reentry Mission Success! I hope you guys enjoyed looking through this thread! I know I had a great (with the occasional frustration) time reaching Duna.
  9. Hello fellow kerbonauts! I've been playing Kerbal since the .13 demo and bought it at .16. I made this account last august(woohoo it survived the great forum purge!) but this is the first post I'm actually making so i thought it would be good to say hello. Anyways so far my major achievements have been landing on the Mun and Minmus, learning how to rendivous and dock, and landing a rover on Duna. Right now I'm constructing a station in orbit and also in the planning stages of launching my first manned flight to Duna. Finally I would like to say I love this game and squad is awesome for making it! My rover The beginnings of my station I apologize if this isn't the correct way to post images but I heard spoilers were broken. Please correct me if i'm supposed to post them a different way.
