  1. I'm trying to get a handle on the resource flow so I can plan out my base instead of adding things haphazardly as I have been doing. The resource flow chart on the wiki and associated descriptions below have been very helpful: https://github.com/BobPalmer/MKS/wiki/Resources It's missing a few things (such as minerals to fertilizer) but overall it's pretty complete. However, what I'm unable to find on the wiki is what my converter options are. If you poke around enough, you can find the MKS Ranger Crush-O-Matic Portable Extractor can convert gypsum and minerals to fertilizer, but are there other options? I'm unable to find any reference to Hydrates -> water for example. Currently the only way I know to get this planning info is to hover over every single MKS part in-game and see if it has a conversion module. Is there a better way to get a list of all converters' capabilities?
  2. I agree, conduction and convection physically transfer heat at a higher rate than radiation physically. I just assumed the max cooling parameter was some hard coded speed limit irrespective of physics. I guess i'll just throw some extras in a KIS can and use them as needed. Thanks.
  3. I assumed the "Max Cooling" would be under ideal conditions and on the ground around KSC would be far from ideal. However, it seems to be cooling well in excess of the ideal max if i'm understanding the concept.
  4. Not sure if this is an MKS misunderstanding or a general KSP misunderstanding. I'm trying to figure out how many MKS Ranger Thermal Control Systems I need to cool a given reactor. If you compare the required cooling of the reactors to the max cooling of the TCS, it seems you need a ton of TCSs. However, when i set up a reactor with a single TCS outside, it seems to work fine for long time periods, not even getting up to 1k degrees.
  5. Unfortunately, i was hoping to stow extra KAS magnets and grapples under there where they would be placed and removed often But thanks anyway
  6. I was hoping to use KIS to attach stuff to the node underneath the Akita Bed but it doesn't seem to attach. Other nodes seem fine. Anyone else tried this?
  7. If that's the case, I suspect adding a native MKS logistics consumer and material kits container to the mobile workshop won't fix the problem. I guess i'll just have to wait for the next release to use scavenging with GC.
  8. But it looks like it has the Logistics Consumer module? I thought this meant it was a logistics consumer?
  9. There's only 2 vessels in the savefile. The kontainer and the workshop.
  10. Anyone else able to reproduce this? I just created a new game and just have an unmanned material kits warehouse next to a manned GC mobile workshop, and it doesn't appear to transfer any material kits. Here's the save file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32521371/persistent.sfs
  11. The storage modules can inflate without any cost, but the other stuff require material kits and sometimes specialized parts
  12. I thought i understood scavenging logistics, but It doesn't seem to be working as I thought. I have a large Kontainer full of material kits with local and planetary warehouse turned on. Next to that, I have a GC workshop without any material kits but it is manned and has the 'logistics consumer' module. I thought when a manned logistics consumer was within 150m of a full logistics warehouse that stuff (other than machinery and EC) would transfer from the warehouse to the consumer. That doesn't seem to be happening. Is my assumption wrong or is this not working correctly?
  13. Oh wow, that hadn't crossed my mind at all. I thought I read all you could read about the sifter, but looking up dirt does make the comment about planetary averages after all.
  14. I assume the 1% concentration requirement for the sifter is based on where the sifter is running and not where the dirt was dug from, correct? Seems it would be very difficult to have dirt dug from many locations all going into the same kontainer and then the sifter knowing which dirt came from where.
  15. Just getting started trying to prototype stuff near the space center on Kerbin. As I understand it, the ranger regolith sifter should collect dirt by itself and extract things that have concentrations above 1%. However, when I deploy the shovel and start the sifter, the sifter says 'missing Dirt'. I have storage for dirt on the craft. I have EC and the module graphics look to be moving. What am i missing?
  16. Anyone else having problems getting the kethoelectric reactor to work? I've got a full kethane tank above it and an empty xenon tank below it and lights using some electric charge (my batteries aren't full) but when i click 'enable', it shows 0.0% output. I used TAC Fuel Balancer to fill the kethane and empty the xenon on the launch pad.
