  1. "Landing" on Gilly was my finest moment in KSP, took most of a Saturday morning burning towards it...
  2. I am a "build small" person. Find the pleasure in the simple compact functional designs. Tweakscale helps a lot here!
  3. How to play while caring for a 5 week old baby... Started a new save in sandbox so going to throw up a fuel depot, fly up some space planes and head for Eve and maybe go manned to Moho
  4. Two part launches also work. I used to fuel up at my depot in LKO then head out The only problem with a fuel depot is you have to keep refilling it!
  5. Playing kool in the astronaught complex...
  6. With a new baby in the house I have precious little time for KSP. I automate everything, nappy changes can be fitted in around interplanetary burns on autopilot. Previously I jused used MJ when I was fed up of launching craft 20+ times in a sitting, I used to always play career and even pushed myself to use remotetech. Now no time for any complications, I just need to automate EVERYTHING! Its either that or no KSP
  7. I abused a lucky persistant savepoint to avoid stranding Jeb in Kerbol orbit... I also used it again to save 25k funds I am playing on a harder mode (custom) and money is tight. I am using remote tech and I lost/had to replace 6 relays due to poor design. Even after stage recovery they still are not cheap!
  8. One of the recent timewarp and interplanetary threads got me thinking. Some people run just one mission at a time, warping months or even years. Others run multiple missions, passing the time of interplanetary by doing things closer to home, while KAC ticks the months down to the SOI change. For the one at a time people, what is the KSC up to in the mean time? Surely it has running costs? Admin, electricity bills etc, or do all the staff just go into hibernation? Should this be simulated? Does anyone do something to "fake" the costs? It doesnt seem right to me that we have the same money after 2 years when all we have done is wait! This might also encourage career players to run a space program rather than a series of missions back to back.
  9. I just use stage recovery and aim for an orbit between 70 x 150
  10. 32 bit is fine with the active texture thing on, I saved over 1gb of space, room for plenty more mores (originally 15 or so). With in on extreme mode I doubt you can load too many mods without lots of part replication or loading things you will never use!
  11. This thread fixed my issues and allowed me to install even more mods!
  12. 3.8 GB down to 2.5 at the start screen. Pretty impressive that! I was having some mod related crashes (the usual ones one exit VAB, recover, lauch etc) due to too much mem use. Hopefully fine now, with room to add more mods!
  13. Ive had lots of crashes since installing B9, I have heard it pushes the 32bit limit on its own! I am not willing to go to 64 bit until I find out how to avoid the KSC issue where it pops up fully upgraded. Most likely (in my experience) a memory issue with a modded install.
  14. Ribbon fan here, vry good news!
  15. Loving the limitations of the early stages of the career mode. I managed to get to the moon with only a launchpad upgrade to level 2 and buying a few parts. Playing on hard mode rewards but with quicksave enabled. I really have to grind out some cash and science but its worth it as it makes the bigger missions feel very rewarding. Squad are VERY close to nailing this game down as an all time classic, I could be playing this for 10 years or more! I hope for DLC and many official patches, for now I will just buy the merchendise to keep thanking them for making a fantastic game, I have still a long way to go to repay what I feel this game is worth. I paid just over a tenner for this and I feel I should have paid £50 (At least)!
  16. About 3.2 I guess, missing a few of the points of level 4 but ticked some boxes. If you are a statistician can you answer the question: What is the average KSP level? (to the nearest whole number)
  17. No issue here, as a long time city sim gamer I tend to lay out and leave gaps for future buildings/roads etc.
  18. I remember the days of IL2 where I needed at least 3 different installs, thankfully someone came up with a nice switcher so we could turn some mods on and off. Even with a switcher I still needed two installs! Took up masses of space at a time when SSDs were not cheap, I only had one small one for my OS and one bigger one for flight sims and alike. Each install of IL2 was over 16GB with all relevant mods etc installed. Sad times as eventually all the mod fractuality killed the Coop gaming community. It was actually a way better game before the big modding game along and all we had was vanilla! Squadrons were split in half as one favoured one mod and another favoured the other, What was a group of about 20 active team mates became 4 and my interest for the game died.
  19. More fun if you upload the SSTO so we can play for you...
