  1. And there's no one to force you to stop doing anything you want (like in prison). No more ***? Why not ****? Who would punish you?

    [...]

The whole concept of a permanent settlement requires law enforcement, at least.

Other people would. If you do something like that regularly on a Mars colony where everyone knows everyone else, I wager that you'd soon end up sleeping outside. Suitless.

Anyway, law enforcement isn't some magical nonhuman force that you can store in a tank. Law enforcement is, in fact, composed of other humans. Guess what's coming along on the colony?

  2. One person asked you about what you knew about physics, which is pretty far from "out of hand".

And you have received questions! Just look at this thread! Plenty of questions here for you to answer, and there's likely plenty more on the way if more people see this thread.

If you don't feel that the current questions are up to scratch, feel free to ask me to throw a few more your way. Here's another one:

"What would I see if I jumped into a black hole?"

  3. But in my opinion the only sad thing is that Mars One is the only one actually actively pursuing to get to Mars*.

They say that they are, but they're saying they'll have a Mars colony in ten years when even NASA's not landing there for another twenty. We could embrace it, but embracing things that probably won't happen is foolish.

  4. Space needs to be free of political boundaries. Everyone can use space so long as they don't interfere with anyone else's use of space (no orbital littering, demolishing other countries' infrastructure on other worlds, etc.). It would be good to force humans off the Earth to think of themselves as humans and not as Americans, Russians, Chinese, etc.

I'm finding issue with you thinking it's a good idea to force people not to identify with their own culture, regardless of where they are.

  5. Again, you are generalizing western cultural traits as if they were inherent to our species. Competition isn't more or less part of human nature as cooperation. It all depends on the context and what there is to gain.

Competition may not hold for all cultures universally, but anywhere war happens there must be some sort of competition. And that occurs pretty much everywhere.

  6. It would be fun to run this on the KSP forums as well, among forum members.

    EDIT:

The discovery of the throttle was a major breakthrough because this allowed us to leave the ground.

This is quite possibly the most Kerbal thing I have ever read. Ever.

    EDIT2:

THEY KEEP ON CALLING KERBIN "EARTH"

    PLEASE STOP THIS OP

    PLEASE

Just kidding, but it irks me so much. I hope you make another blog post soon, because I want to read more wonderfully Kerbal things such as this.

  7. If you are all really that concerned about being experts, go enroll in a university, get a physics PhD and then you can call yourself an expert. Otherwise don't waste my time trying to compare e-peens over a video game.

As long as you don't waste my time acting like you're superior to all these plebeians who dare to talk about people's skill at a game. Discussing Kerbal Space Program? On the Kerbal Space Program forum? OUTRAGEOUS!
