  1. You could also try the RemoteTech mod. (if/when it's updated for 0.17 that is)
  2. Yes 2 Munar eclipses, they happened within a few minutes of each other. I couldn't get Kerbin in the 2nd one though as it was directly underneath. Awesome to watch as well
  3. As Bartfel, Cambas & Hudbald were performing systems checks before starting their journey to Duna they spotted the last moments of a Munar eclipse, and were in a great position to watch a second:
  4. Sounds like a plausible mainstream theory which I would be inclined to believe, except some of my astronauts have reported seeing large-scale patterns on the surface from orbit when the sun is at a particular angle that they believe are not natural formations. Bobdred believes he saw "a story of the exodus of an ancient alien race", and "a cryptic solar system map" that "together covered 1/2 the planet", and Jeb said he saw a "bird that could also be an arrow, or maybe a rocket" and a "bloke's face" at the edges of one of the arch craters. Before settling on your story I want to investigate these sites further to figure out whether they have any significance, or whether to fire those two for smoking space crack. (that Bobdred has always struck me as a bad influence) So far we've landed on the arrow-looking thing to see if it was pointing at a munolith location but found nothing..
  5. TL;DR version - How do you move up and down with an EVA'd kerbal? I'm sure this has been asked before but 'eva' is not a long enough phrase to search the forums with. Usually the first thing that happens to me after turning on the jetpack is I lose altitude relative to my ship, and from then on I'm pretty much stranded in the void. The WASD keys only cover two of the three dimensions, and the RCS translation controls don't seem to do anything.. I can't find anything in the controls settings either. There must be something I'm missing.
  6. I hadn't considered running KSP from a thumb drive but yes, they are slow If you're just looking for a better drive transfer speed you could try one of these
  7. I find you can't go too far wrong if you take the balance of each stage (as well as the overall balance) and thrust-weight ratios into account. I use the small tanks and engines for the stages I want to put into orbit. Although the larger engines tanks are heavier they have a higher TWR, so I use these for the lifting stage. This design handled fairly well once I'd slapped on a few struts to keep the top half steady. I know it's not a 3-man pod & those weigh a lot more but the principle's basically the same:
  8. This doesn't work for me in 0.16 - all the legs are moved at the same time whether I use the context menu or press G. I've only ever seen it happen with the lighter legs after I'd opened & closed them a few times though - even if this is a bug, I kinda like this as an aspect of the rocket design - do you use the cheaper, lighter parts that fail after a few uses or go for the heavier, more reliable parts?
  9. Thanks, the orbital tilting video really clears things up. Awesome job on the cleanup mission by the way
  10. Greetings, citizens of Kerbin! So recently I let you, the denizens of Kerbin, know that we'd chosen to go to the Mun in this alpha version & do the other things, not because they are quicksaved, but because they are not quicksaved. You might have missed it on TV, I'm not sure the camera was turned on. But I totally said that. Well, after deciding the previous attempt didn't count when the GBTK (Guy Behind The Keyboard) interface in astronaut Bill Kermin's Munar Landing Module suffered a serious ground-to-proximity failure resulting in loss of all thrust capability (that's the last time we use shoddy Khinese components), last night I was finally able to tell you that the dream has become reality, and beam back the first pictures from the surface of the Mun. .. unfortunately Jeb is still there too as he didn't have enough fuel to get out of orbit. Hello I've been playing KSP for about a week & been loving it so far. My only gripe is for some reason any kerbonauts I've left orbiting or landed on the Mun get saved as debris so I can't resume the flight (but they do when they're in orbit around Kerbin - maybe it's because I detached the command module?) - it'd have been awesome to attempt a rescue mission after I'd gotten some practice in. But whatever, this game has fast become my favourite, keep up the good work Squad!
