Do show us what you do with it here in the thread!

But does the fuel saved doing a burn at periapsis really negate the fuel used to obtain orbit?
-
This is exactly what a lot of people said about Minecraft...
-
I'm not sure if my math is correct on this but it should at least be able to push about 1bpoc (big pile of crap) to an orbit of about 1wrcm (whoreallycaresometer)
-
This is my go-to ship for .17 now. It will get you anywhere in the kerbol system with fuel to spare. I am NOT an expert in orbital mechanics and I do NOT know how to fly this thing to the best of its efficiency. I DO know however that even an idiot like me is able to fly this thing out to jool with half a tank of fuel left before detaching the lander. Video demonstration:
-
I have a craft capable of getting 2x 3M fuel tanks to kerbin escape velocity, it has a tricoupler at the bottom with 3 nuke engines and a lander up top with a 1m tank of fuel and the 200 thrust vectoring engine.
-
Anyone who doubts this being possible with stock parts has severely underestimated the new nuclear engine.

Get Jeb Home from another planet!
-Gamah replied to Tassyr's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
With eve's thicker atmosphere, would using a plane to lateral velocity be beneficial? Imagine the fuel you could save on landing too. -
I heard some old folk tale that Jeb cannot be scared... apprently hitting the surface of Eve at ~50m/s rustled his jimmies. This was after a successful landing, I tried to take off and parachute back down, only to lose my parachute. I used the last 2 pixels of fuel to slow down best I could to preserve the ship. Challenge is simple, scare Jeb. Scoring doesn't matter, but Bob and Bill will pay you back that 20 Kerbits you bet them. Successful Scares: -Gamah SargeRho

The design is there and timestamped from when I uploaded it. I don't mind if people rip it off, I'm nearly done with my Jool-capable ship anyway.
-
If you're that concerned about it, you could download it and take a picture yourself. It's had 103 clicks so far, must be working for some people. I'm already working on a new craft capable of getting to jool.

Dealing With SAS Oscillations
-Gamah replied to phoenix_ca's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I believe the ASAS code needs a factor of smoothing, like what was added to the Gforce meter. That being said, I always try to sturdy up my ships with a lot of struts between decouplers. -
Here's the ship I used which got me to land on Ike and on Duna, completely .17 stock
-
Orbit approach Cool picture Orbiting Ike Coming in hot Getting there. Touchdown! Blastoff again, this time Duna! Pretty red planet.... Is this Duna, or mars? Jeb accomplishes another "masterful" landing... He opted to jettison the parachute after entry to maximize the craft's thrust/weight ratio and conserve as much fuel as possible. I used literally every last drop of fuel from this thing... I will upload a picture of the craft on the pad later on.
-
Which is precisely why it makes more sense to just put fuel/engines on whichever craft we're trying to fling. Probably why comments are disabled on that video too.
-
Welcome to Eve, Shelald... Please do not drink the water. I don't know how you guys are LANDING on these things... I barely had enough fuel to get here.

Land at the KSC from the Mun
-Gamah replied to Chickenkeeper's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
That's a pretty tall order without being able to enter LKO first... the rotation of kerbin adds magnitudes of complexity. Having to land in a specific .00007% of kerbin's total surface area from 11,000,000,000 meters away and somehow predicting the rotation and aerobraking correctly? I realize you did it on accident, but have you tried doing that on purpose? -

Kerbal Shuttle Mission: Kerbin observation
-Gamah replied to deltaflyer_19's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm convinced I can make one that takes off piggyback, it would be SO much easier if I could put a decoupler on the jet engine. I'll work on this later today and if I get a working design I'll stream the mission. Edit: Proof of concept: http://i.imgur.com/xYu8m.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pxERO.jpg The issue is getting enough fuel to get to orbit on the thing... -
Kerbal Shuttle Mission: Kerbin observation
-Gamah replied to deltaflyer_19's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I suppose my pictures were a bit misleading.. I never showed it on the "runway". That little thing could not have gotten into orbit itself I don't think. On the "pad" http://i.imgur.com/MnKEn.jpg The thing will glide for days, the stall speed is about 43 m/s which is perfectly reasonable to land with... I was just rushing myself to land within the mission timer and mucked it up -

Quoting this cause it wasn't noticed on page 2 -
Kerbal Shuttle Mission: Kerbin observation
-Gamah replied to deltaflyer_19's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
It looks kind of like the shuttle... right? As close to 155x165 as I could get Setting up: Hitting the atmosphere backwards: Dropping dead weight and facing the right way: KSC on the horizon: In plain sight: Cutting it pretty close on the 1:30 mission time: Erm... "touchdown": I think with some more practice I could get a real landing with a few minutes to spare.. my issue is that when I crossed below 4KM i had a massive lag that disabled my ASAS and caused my craft to abruptly pitch up and stall... -
Build a Fictional Spacecraft
-Gamah replied to Whatshtisthis's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Oh man I wish I was good at building things like this... Would love to recreate some of the fighters/flagships from Descent Freespace... http://starships.wikia.com/wiki/GTD_Orion The Orion is the capital ship of the GTA. Measuring a frightening 2.1 kilometers in length, the cost to build one of these far outweighs the cost of paying the crew of this ship for 3 years. There is no more important symbol of Terran Pride than a ship like the Galatea or the Intrepid cruising past a colonized planet, patrolling the system and ensuring safety. In the course of the 14 year war, very few of these have ever been lost, making the destruction of an Orion a truly horrible defeat. Using the old GTF Angel Scout Fighter as a template, the GTA created the Valkyrie Interceptor Fighter. It has two additional engines, as well as an additional set of primary hardpoints. This makes the Valkyrie the best bomber interceptor in the fleet. Its speed is unmatched in the GTA, and its maneuverability is above average. Its only drawbacks are a small secondary payload and weak hull. -

So did my post not count?
