  1. sorry, wrong forum... mods, can someone please move this to the development support forum? cheers.
  2. I've been hard at work creating an all-stock (welded) station parts pack, however I've been stumped by an fx issue with my Lav Module. I welded together a bunch o' parts to make the module, including 4 micro engine nozzles for the venting of... ahem... excretions. The fx definitions themselves aren't a problem, but I am unsure about how best to activate them. I decided to use engine modules with 0 thrust as the activators, but I don't know how to change the action group label in the VAB. Of course the options show up as the usual, "activate engine, deactivate engine, toggle engine", however I would like them to say something to the effect of, "vent, close vent, toggle vent". Is there a way to do this? Also, while I'm at it, in parts with multiple modules, will "fxblahblahblah, activate" trigger the fx whenever any module is activated? Is there a way to more specifically define links between modules and fx? Thanks lads.
  3. It's really very simple if you focus on learning the system before trying to make something crazy. I taught myself to weld about three weeks ago by looking at .cfg files. It took about three or four hours of tinkering to really get the hang of it, but it is an incredibly handy skill to have when dealing with... ahem... a 'slightly' unstable memory hog like KSP. By the end of this week I will be posting a space station parts pack made entirely of stock parts, so it can't be all that difficult. Just commit to yourself to learning it.
  4. Seriously. I have fond memories of a time, not so long ago, in which this forum was virtually devoid of asses. *le sniff*
  5. Thanks for doing the grunt work man. Much appreciated. =) *edit bahaha..
  6. haha.. what an oddly specific request... especially for KSP. I think your best shot may be to learn to model. Do you mind if I ask what the significance of this UP SD70ACe 8444 is to you?
  7. As headhunter said, your comments are rude, and rudeness is an expenditure of energy absent the possibility of a positive return. It therefore indisputably stands to reason that rudeness is always stupid and/or idiotic, unless wasting energy and causing conflict is your idea of intelligent behaviour... in which case you're acting like a freaking genius. Being that I much prefer to keep things light-hearted, if you feel the need to continue being grumpy, please berate me via pm. Yeah, it bothered me to have to do it that way, 'cause it feels a tad cheat-y, but the amount of power generated is similar to what a full broad-side of sunlight would give you, and given the omnidirectional nature of the solar array it's really only cheat-y in the dark... but we can just pretend that the module is full of other electricity-birthing things. Cheers good sir. Being that I taught myself to weld by disecting one of your configs' date=' give yourself a pat on the back! =) I look forward to seeing those pics! Many thanks to headhunter, polecatez, smurphy34, sochin, krevsin, commander zoom, and everyone else for your kind words. More parts to come! (...although I certainly won't endeavour to weld 48 panels to anything else... t'was painful.)
  8. Congrats on being the first to get the reference! =D ...or at least the first to mention it. Anyone who digs Monty Python is automatically alright with me.
  9. To anyone who downloaded this last night, I inadvertently uploaded the wrong docking port .cfg, so I do apologize if your compassionate clamp-o-tron was a total jerk. All is fixed now.
  10. I work in a university teaching hospital and we had an abnormally high volume of patients last night. I'm very sorry that I spent a short break uploading some .cfgs that took hours to make, for no reason other than to provide a few parts that folks might find to be useful. I thought that it would be nice to have them up for the weekend crew, but I really should learn that style always trumps substance. Normally I wouldn't be so put-off by stupid comments, but I have no tolerance for idiocy when I'm stressed. I mean seriously dude, are you expecting an apology? Should I be awash in feelings of guilt for having let you down? The pics will be up within the hour. I fixed a few of the files to make the parts more aesthetically pleasing, and I added a fully functional, nifty-lookin' crew tank (hitchhiker IVA), and a 48 panel 2.5m power module. =)
  11. The Department of Placing Things on Other Things is pleased to announce that this year has seen more things placed on other things than ever before. That said, this is no time for complacency, as there are still many things, and I cannot emphasize this too strongly, NOT on top of other things. But we must not allow ourselves to become too despondent, for we must never forget that if there was not one thing that was not placed on another thing, we would be less able to freely place things upon the things on which we would like to place them. Preamble aside, I present to you the first generation of welded parts from the DoPToOT; tough as yogurt and built to last some time, I present to you: PPD-30 Crew Tank A cozy space for four space-faring kerbals. Comes complete with a working hatch, lights, and IVA. (I forgot to remove the power module for the screenshot. The crew tank ends where solar panels begin=) Solar Power Module A 2.5m in-line power generation unit. mmmmm… yummy. The Porthole This place-anywhere, light-emitting porthole adds a ton of life to your spacecraft and dreary moon bases… they’re comforting as heck. (light can be toggled) The Compassionate Clamp-O-Tron A Clamp-O-Tron docking port with four built-in spotlights. This is a docking port that cares. The Hubby Truss Series Originally conceived as an aesthetic alternative to the Rockomax Station Hub, the Hubby Truss series of truss-based hubs will absorb twice the punishment of its predecessor while being slightly more compact and looking twice as awful. This series features extra attachment nodes under the truss adapters for easy placement of odds and ends such as batteries, science-y stuff, or whatever else tickles your fancy. The hubs emit a wee bit o’ light, eliminating the need to add spotlights everywhere. The Trussy Hub Series In response to strong demand for lower part counts and stronger trussiness, we’ve welded the standard station hub to truss adapters in a variety of configurations. These hubs have built-in fibre optics that cause them to emit a subtle glow that’s sufficient to eliminate the need for supplemental lighting. The Well-Adapted Truss A long truss sandwiched between two 1m adapters, designed to keep your part counts under control. 12. It would be amazing if someone could write a simple-ish plugin that displays the mapsat .pngs in-flight, including position, anomalies, etc. just like the mapsat GPS, so we could remove the mapsat plugin after the bodies are mapped. Just using stock parts, KSP can barely handle high-res textures (universe replacer) and mapsat as my only mods. :/ dang. It would be even more amazing if Squad would hurry along their plans for the 64-bit update.
  13. Looking good, but in keeping with the spirit of KSP you might want to offer a texture without the stars and stripes and USA. Otherwise it won't quite fit (aesthetically) with the stock parts, thereby severely limiting its value to many players.
  14. haha.. the tone of this thread is markedly different from all of the other "when's the release date?" threads. Evidently nicely asking to not be killed makes all the difference. =D
  15. I find such an ordered approach to be less interesting, although to a certain extent I follow a similar-ish progression, simply as a requirement. (I use RemoteTech) My first orders of business tend to be the creation of an LKO CommSat constellation, followed by a GeoSync constellation.
  16. That's an odd-looking lifter... and I mean that in a good way. What are those long wing-y/strut-y things connecting the lander to the Jumbo-64's?
  17. hehe, I can't think of many things less fun than collecting points for the sake of collecting points, but to each their own.
  18. The game is still in development, so you can be sure of two things: 1) Squad will continue to add content. 2) The price of the game will rise as the game nears completion. Also, you can find mods for just about anything. In short, buy it. =)
  19. There's no secret to it really... pack lots of fuel and build carefully. Be mindful of efficiency on this one. Casual strolls to Duna allow for a lot of wastage, but Eeloo missions require that you place performance well ahead of aesthetics. Good luck!
  20. Yeah, the existence of a career mode upon which to form your opinion. Like you, I expect my sandbox game will receive more attention, but this opinion is based only on past experience. Who knows... time will tell.
  21. Why do people insult mods? Inability to accept that others may have differing preferences. It's simply immaturity; ignore it.
  22. What's your memory usage at? 9 times out of 10, endless loading or CTD's result from memory errors.
