  1. I\'m leaving for a 3 day trip to CERN, in Switzerland in a few hours. Here\'s Chapter 6, I won\'t be writing more until I get back. (ED: Obviously...) See ya guys.
  2. Alright, here\'s the deal. The poll was going to close on the 27th of June but, due to the fact I\'m leaving for the airport in 7 hours and need to get some sleep before then, I\'m changing it to the 29th- the day I get back. I could just end it now, but I\'d rather get as many votes cast as possible, because at the moment we simply don\'t have enough, I feel, to call the result representative of the community. I\'m flying out to Switzerland on a school trip with 20 class mates- we\'re going to CERN, in Geneva. I can\'t wait, it\'s going to be fantastic. See ya guys.
  3. Would you mind sharing it? I\'m mildly interested
  4. I do like the storyline, and the humour at the KSC\'s terrible engineering- however I recommend, as does everyone else (it seems), that you try to fix some of the grammar. It\'d make your story a much more enjoyable read.
  5. I like how the crew confirmed KIA, as if they said 'Hey, mission control, we\'re all dead up here- okay?'. 8)
  6. CRAFT: Unique II MISSION: Land on Minmus and Return to the KSC CREW: Bill, Jebediah, and Bob Kerman LAUNCH DATE: 24-06-12 NOTES: -New design of Unique Craft is much more stable, handles better and is less prone to wobbling. Wait, are they the same thing...? -TurboJet engines last a little too long, and become useless before their root tanks are empty (consistent flaw in all Unqiue iterations so far). Recommend researching a solution. -First stage ran out before crew remembered to set collision course with Minmus, and was sent spiralling out into Kerbol orbit. Shoot For The Mun Mission Control says 'Not our problem anymore.' -Successful Minmus touchdown on methane lake. -Return fuel ran out just before KSC return course could be fully set, and CM landed safely about 5 kms from shore. Rescue craft to be dispatched. FLIGHT DURATION: 008:04:51:57 MISSION OUTCOME: Success! NOTES ON CRAFT: Unique II is the second in the line of SFTMTM\'s \'Compact\' Series. In other words, it is very small and looks epic. Interested?
  7. More islands...? You know, we haven\'t quite got the power to change the amount of land on Kerbin... all we can do is name it!
  8. Burn retrograde when de-orbiting and landing. Retrograde (for those who don\'t yet know) is marked by the yellow counter with the \'X\' through the middle of it and means the ship is pointing opposite to the direction it is moving. Thus, burning retrograde will remove your horizontal movement, Chewie.
  9. ... and if you did mod it, tell us how!
  10. I just want to bump this thread a little, it seems wrong to take the results of a poll in that not even 50 members have voted on...
  11. Looks awesome, yet probably handles like a... yeah. I\'ll check it out at some point
  12. Your challenge is to create a craft for Shoot For The Mun EnterprisesTM that is as compact as possible. NOT MINIMALISTIC. All super simple crafts shall be disqualified from the running, the aim of this competition is to get as much capability into as small a space as possible. Let\'s see what you come up with! Here\'s one I\'ve made, just a prototype... Unique I is capable of sending Kerbals to the Mun and back. SFTM EnterprisesTM is not responsible for any mental or physical trauma caused by this challenge, including (but not limited to) the annoyance of debris left in LKO. The original challenge of this thread was to take Unique I to a moon and back, I just changed it to something more interesting. If you can follow in my footsteps like that, then do!
  13. CRAFT: Unique I MISSION: Land on the Mun and return CREW: Halsted, Tomrey, and Elfry Kerman LAUNCH DATE: 24-06-12 FLIGHT DURATION: Not recorded NOTES: -Ship used a combination of LFEs and Turbo Jets on take off, a concept that has proved its potential. -Circularised LKO at 120kms, new standard. -Against all odds, crew touched down the lander at >5m/s safely without any form of landing support. Landing legs to be added in future iterations. -Due to incorrect burning: Ship left Mun SOI, ran out of fuel in HKO, re-entered Mun SOI and crashed onto its surface. MISSION OUTCOME: Catastrophic Failure. The terrible loss of the KSP\'s most talented pilots. Our condolences to the Kerman family, once more.
  14. I used to use the steam browser, and I\'d agree it is perfect for this. Also, the windows key works fine for me- I use it all the time.
  15. Actually, you can change game resolution no matter the monitor size. My laptop has a 1366x768 resolution and I\'ve set the game to run at 1280x720. If you really don\'t want to change your full screen resolution like that, then I\'d suggest running the game windowed at 1280x720. To edit my videos I use the (bad, but free) windows live movie maker, which one can easily set to render at 6:9. I\'d imagine most editors, including Vegas, can do the same. YouTube tutorials have never let me down, all you need is perseverance... As for microphones, I use a logitech USB desktop mic. Logitech is one of my favourite brands, they\'re pretty cheap on Ebay and perform well enough. I\'d recommend their stuff, as they do both higher and lower end equipment. Thanks! I really enjoy making intros; I used to do them for people specifically on my old channel. Would you like me to make you one? Just message me through YouTube or PM me here on the forums, we shouldn\'t really stray the thread off topic with stuff like that.
  16. Always land in day light, though I suppose night-time landing IS more of a challenge... Other than that, I haven\'t anything useful to really add. I tend to orbit at 100- 120kms (120 for the higher time warp, as previously mentioned) and burn at Munrise. Get into a >50km orbit, then de-orbit to bring your trajectory down into a crater that\'s in daylight. It seems optimal, and fun! Good luck with your future flights, and may I recommend logging them here?
  17. The game is ridiculously loud when we do our recordings- you want to have it down to 1% in game sound in order for your voice to be clear over the rockets. Of course, as your rocket progresses to using smaller engines you could always put it back up. With regards to quality, you have The Voice. 'The Voice' is something I am, sadly, lacking. It\'s clear that YouTube is a personality driven site, and your voice is quite enjoyable to listen to. The MUST: You need to change your aspect ration to 6:9. If you don\'t know what that means, it\'s essentially the resolution you record at. Changing it to 6:9 (1280x720 pixels is 720p, which I record at) will remove those black bars at the sides of your video. Also, you should change the in-game resolution in the options menu to the same as your recording resolution, it makes a hell-of-a-lot of difference, trust me. What screen recorder are you currently using? I use Fraps, which is really great for high-quality recording. It does cost, but you could always use... other means to acquire it. Hopefully I\'ve helped you in some way, the reason I\'ve taken the time to write all that is \'cause I wish I knew all that when I started youtube... all those years ago... *cough* Anyway, good luck with the channel. If you want to check out my videos to see what the result of all ^this is, here\'s a link.
  18. Indeed. Continent 6 is actually smaller than a few of Kerbin\'s islands. The only reason I have it as a proposal is due to it being suggested earlier on in the thread, and it being met with positive feedback. I do my best to be fair... DISCLAIMER: Many things HOC says are subject highly to (rather like polar stretching dammit!) hyperbole. All posts, bar the thread starters, are my highly biased personal opinion.
  19. Ah, so mods are capable of extending poll voting times? Wonderful, but even better would be to remove that limit completely- that way I can have much more control over ending times. Could you do that? Thanks. To be honest, the option to remove it should really be available to the OP of the thread. Anyone know why it isn\'t?
  20. I\'ll take a look And yes, Phoenix, the addition of docking makes all this much more worthwhile. However, this is more challenging as it is!
  21. Oh... ah, I see. Dammit! This IS a problem... okay, here\'s the gist. The first poll had a duration of 7 days, from the 13th to the 20th of June. Using the in-built 'poll ends on...' option I set it to end on the 20th. Now the time has come and I have changed the poll to our new one, it seems to have given us about an hour of voting before closing it immediately... on the 20th of June. I only realised this earlier on today... The problem is this option Can Not Be Changed, to my knowledge. If a moderator can sort it that would be wonderful, if not we seem to have two options: New, exclusive poll thread (making this the discussion thread) Votes to be sent in via replies to this thread. I know how to decide, let\'s have a poll! Oh, wait... EDIT: After some meddling I succeeded in wiping the results of the poll. Ha, great.
