[Showcase] Showoff Your Rep-Worthy Crafts
andrew123 replied to Redrobin's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
You better hope that the warp core can be contained with gellar fields... In other news... Firing on the terraformed Jovian Moons, occupied by the Friedens. This is the precursor to the modern day super mac orbital platform. The ODIN. It is designed for precision and supersonic orbital bombardment with attack times of under two minutes. Bye Bye enemy fleet. Also, the LCS Independence. Trimaran hull. The vessel, after firing off the missiles, can maneuver at speeds in excess of 40 m/s. -
Maybe rotationally clipping landing legs? You should check out the K-drive page, we had a lot of research into harnessing the glitch, including the fact that opening the legs in the assembly editor would break the bug.

Obligatory picture. I saw this cartoon in a political parody website... Haha. I'm trying out this shiny weapon against naval vessels. Remember the ending of a certain video game...
-
Hehe, my independence has over 4000 units of fuel. I guess I sacrificed some performance for some longer range. Also, the ODIN is about to be tested against a naval combatant. The cruise missile is also being tested against your E class.

Firing at an insurgent position. Bye Bye enemy fleet.

The US Air Force is proud to present the ultimate deterrent force in the solar system: The ODIN. This deployed edition of the ODIN is a complete rebuild of the prototype, taking the lessons learned in the old edition to create one of the ultimate strike weapons on the planet. Each 8-ton impactor travels to the surface in less than 2 minutes, impacting at supersonic speeds with terminal guidance for pinpoint accuracy. The ODIN carries six kinetic impactors, and the station pulls double duty as my main space station. Download link: http://db.orangedox.com/txlRdLwKfoJy8441y9/ODIN%20MKII.craft The station itself is meant to be used in conjunction with three telemetry satellites, which will be unveiled separately. All missiles and resources are reload able, with the station itself possessing four engines for orbital maneuvering and rcs for precision target acquisition. NOTES: Hotkeys 1.- toggle station engines 2.- toggle station solar panels -Disable fuel flow from the station's small fuel tank during ascent. -Separate the station from the main booster core by decoupling the docking node connecting the station to the rocket module. -Shut off station thrusters before firing projectiles. -Set up station orbit at just over 70 km. It is imperative that the orbital altitude be just above the atmosphere. -Fire impacters at full throttle. -EJECT IMPACTER SRB'S AFTER SWITCHING TO THEM WITH THE STAGE KEY. -Fire the missiles to a retrograde biased orientation for maximum effect. -Have fun! My X-37 cargo shuttle is in development. Some of you may know what that implies... The SLV. Firing at an insurgent position. Impact vehicle hurtles towards the surface at a near linear trajectory at hypersonic velocities. The projectile still has plenty of maneuvering fuel. The station on standby duty. Of course, our station is so well defended that it is inconceivable that anything could happen to it... such as unsanctioned foreign visitors from a X-37 cargo shuttle...

Do you have any specific suggestions? Daemon already said it looked realistic (And she liked it), and making the angled surfaces for the front prow could kill the ship's combat effectiveness. And I never meant for the independence to look like a destroyer?! Do you want to see how many missiles I can cram on that flight deck?! (Plus, the speed was measured with two cruise missiles on my ship. Your ship already fired off its missiles in the images.) Plus, actual max speed is over 50 m/s. The flight deck could fit at least 8 1.5 m missiles on top of the current complement of two cruise missiles. Do you even know what LCS stands for?
-
Looks like a naval reincarnation of our kraken drives. I also found out why my ship was marginally slower: too much extra liquid fuel.
-
HAHA! That was a good one. Your vessel is equipped with no missiles, making it lighter during the run. Not to mention smaller due to a lack of a flight deck. Nevertheless, The Federation has deemed it necessary to reverse-engineer the wreckage of the ODIN into a new system called LOKI... try outrunning hypersonic tungsten rods. Skip to 8:34. Epic views of future combat ensue.
-
Very well, but I find that difference negligible, especially due to the vtol aircraft landing pad on the rear of my ship. (PS, he also achieved the record without any of his missiles on the ship... I had two heavy cruise missiles on mine...) Anyways, the next edition to the front of my LCS is a movable turret... Just hope that a certain carrier task force doesn't find it... On another note, how was my Independence LCS? I'd love to hear some feedback. Really, Zekes? My Independence LCS begs to differ. This is with two cruise missiles bolted to the roof.
-
Deploy the super-fast USS Independence Trimaran!
-
How's the trimaran hull type? I love the stability and reduced drag it provides. Also, I should install 8 1.5 m missiles on the back of my ship for the view.
-
Thank you. Actually, never mind about the pitch restriction. Knock yourselves out with the maneuvering, since the ship only incurs superficial damage. The VTOL landing pad will soon get compatible aircraft. It is on my list to finish after getting this AP chemistry and Precalculus homework out of the way.

-must read whole post before using the craft- This is insane. The upgraded version of the destroyer clocks in at 500 parts and 87 tons with two cruise missiles, but the max speed is over 46.8 m/s. And it can safely make hard turns even at those speeds... this ship is awesome. Armor has also been upgraded with side armor panels for the flight deck. Missile launch instructions: (Ensure that you are as slow as possible. Turn off all ship engines and activate SAS before launch and set to full throttle. Once you switch to the missile, activate SAS, if you haven't already, and switch control to the main probe core. The missile is stable after reaching approximately 200 m/s.) EJECT WHEELS THROUGH THE STAGE AFTER GETTING INTO WATER. It can effortlessly make hard turns at over 46.8 m/s. Instructions for correcting the nav ball: Go into the center of the ship and select the shown command pod as the control here main unit. And yes, it has a currently untested vtol landing pad.

Actually, the Independence was able to go on without intake skipping. The problem is the reduced performance due to the safety concerns, forcing me to use intake skipping for maximum speed and maneuverability.
-
Liking that trimaran hull? I think it will make a great edition to my new super carrier.
-
We can build submarines. The main problem is how much weight is required to sink the craft underwater due to ridiculous fractions of at least 10 tons for 1 ton on the craft itself.
-
So, I guess the kraken loves eating vessels. Or tossing them to the ocean floor at supersonic speeds. At least it proves my missiles work as underwater launched weapons. SLBM style launch.
-
Why not the USS Missouri. It even got upgraded with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Phalanx CIWS mounts during the Gulf War.
-
And I decided on the Bismarck.
-
The actual king of battleships. The Yamato. Just don't use the rising sun for the flag. I hate that symbol just as much as the Axis Swastika.
