Both hills are too close to the star, thus quickly increasing the temperature to 12,000 K (Assume the star is an O-type main sequence star.), quickly melting your hills. I then took the lava planets and knock you out of function by spraying more acids. My lava planets.

The only thing is that it was told on KPIX-5 BEFORE Google explained it. Probably new Tech stuff, like Google Glass. Probably space-related.

The volcano, as it turns out, is a composite volcano. You are buried by the pyroclastic surge. (Art depicting the last hours of Pompeii.) Then I managed to collect the ingredients (safely, after the blow) and use it to power my way to Mars. There I established a colony on a hill. My Martian hill.
