  1. As I said, n-body solutions for KSP would be non-trivial. I don't know about you, but I won't forgive the educational system for confusing me by using Bohr diagrams all the way until Grade 12, where they finally ripped all that silliness up and used orbitals to explain things. (I already knew about orbitals before Grade 7 or so so I was even more annoyed.) Orbitals make a lot more sense anyway, so why not teach what's closest to reality first? They aren't all that difficult to understand. The actual math behind them, sure, but the concept is pretty easy. N-body math though, that **** is hard.
  2. Future-proofing and easier editing. If I create an MM config, I can see very easily which values I've changed (as they'll be the only values in the config), and it'd make updates to this plugin's preferences a bit easier. Sure, I could produce a diff, but I prefer to not touch mod files directly unless I really have to.
  3. O.o The whole reason I use LoD is because ATM is insufficient.
  4. Well, no, the orbital mechanics don't obey real-world physics either. It uses patched conics which is a rough approximation of what really happens at best. N-body solutions would be far more realistic, but going with a solution that doesn't require a physics degree to understand certainly makes sense. (And I mean for the devs. Plotting a course with n-body solutions could be easy, but making such a thing work in-game is non-trivial.) Realism is a poor argument for game design.
  5. It wouldn't require anything of the sort. Davon's Supply Station (or whatever it's called) already abstracts away resupply missions, and RoverDude is working on a more advanced sort of resource transfer in MKS.
  6. Nice. Now I can use all of your science parts without blasting through KSPI's tree uber-fast. Edit: This creates "body" nodes, yes? Can be tweaked with MM, yes? Can also prepare sandwiches for me, yes?
  7. Why are you asking that question in this thread? And you could just quote someone's post to see.
  8. I'd much rather use something like Throttle Controlled Avionics and offload all that busywork. What are you going to use manual thrust controls for? Manoeuvring? Why not just let some code do vary the thrust for you so you have that control with the normal buttons?
  9. :< Well I hope something can be done on LoD's end to fix it. I really don't want to part with those NFP tanks and batteries.

  11. Did you even read the OP's posts? They specifically said they are using an overclocked Haswell i5.
  12. This thread and the dev thread is already rife with talk about adding ORS and Kethane mapping.
  13. By a given I mean it's so likely as to be somewhat unreasonable to hold the opposite view (that there is no other intelligent life in the universe). There may not be solid proof but, as I said, even most pessimistic estimates end up with at least some intelligence somewhere. I should've also mentioned there's no guarantee that we'd have any ability to communicate or even relate at all to some other form of life. Solaris covered that one pretty well (if in a rather drab and boring way, especially with the original movie; what the hell was with that car scene?).
  14. Because they are just bits in a machine. If there's anything the ESRB has taught me, it's that killing one "person" in a game in a realistic way is evil, but committing genocide is totally fine (E-rated, even) as long as it's just numbers. Hell, Sword of the Stars was practically a genocide simulator.
  15. For some reason that reminded me of making ice cream with liquid nitrogen. It's prudent to calculate the total volume of the gas in the container when at room temperature before dumping it into the room you are in...don't want to asphyxiate yourself. That would be embarrassing. (I still don't have the money to spend on a proper Dewar flask though. Those things are expensive. )
  16. There have been releases happening in the thread itself. You can follow the builds more closely here: https://ksp.sarbian.com/jenkins/job/ModuleManager/ Although the build artefacts are kinda a mess.
  17. As far as I know, it's just KSPI and MKS so far. So if you have KSPI handled, then it's just Minerals, Substrate, and Ore left.
  18. There have been some issues with TweakScale when the root part isn't a command pod.
  19. Dres. It's just a boring rock in the middle of the system. Eeloo, Eeloo is cool because it's far away and thus hard to reach.
  20. Touché! Though I would point-out that at least that was caused by a bit of confusion as we smartened-up and converted to metric. The probe was caused by being anachronistic and holding on to the imperial system.
  21. Whether or not there is other intelligent life in the universe is, I think, a given. Even the most pessimistic (while still reasonable) estimates would result in plenty of other civilizations, given the sheer vastness of the universe. Whether or not those intelligent life forms have any hope of ever meeting each other is another matter entirely. We won't have any inkling of whether or not that's possible until we completely disprove the possibility of FTL travel, or prove its possible. It's also a more interesting question I think to contemplate the relative levels of development for those supposed civilizations. Just look at how much technological progress we've made in a mere hundred years. That's a puny, puny amount of time compared to the vast scale of the universe. If there is other intelligent life out there, compared to us, they may well be very, very different. Far, far from the portrayal in fiction like Star Trek. Probably closer to something like Babylon 5's Vorlons everywhere. If there is life out there, I hope both them and us have sorted-out ethics regarding other life before we ever meet.
