  1. Both of those are possible, I have done a trip to duna, but I sadly had to do use 2 small radial engines to finish the job, I was only around 200 m/s off course, I would love to have a reason to try to do that again, it involves having a craft on the ground that I had to get up to speed before I got there, and I was to leave above it, and it would act like my maneuver node
  2. Well I think as opposed to having the challenge change from breaking physics to trying to overwork your computer, that we should add more categories to the challenge itself. An example would be different size classes, where the plane needs to be below certain pert thresholds to fit as different classes of planes, so we could have, say, 5 different classes where the highest one is unlimited, so it still lets people that don't have as good computers aim for the classes that they can handle on their computers. This would then let them be able to compete in the challenge instead of being turned off by having to be able to handle such massive crafts, this would also be really fun as the smaller they are they faster they would go so while only being in their own class the scores would scale as everyone is imposed under the same limits. That and I think that having some cooler groups that have really unique limits on them would be fun, because there s a ton of stuff that you can do with infigliders
  3. Well, suddenly all bets are off, Not 2mil, 3 mil, not even just 4mil, I present "i dunno"... Speed: 185.2 m/s Mass: 134.8 t Kerbals: 184 185.2*134.9*(184+1) = 4,621,943.8 And for the proof: Speed: I could probably go faster with it but I didn't like the wobble, I might make a more stable one in the future Weight: info screen while on the runway Kerbals: 15 containers (and one extra on the front) *4 kerbals each, and 3 rows, gives a total of 184 kerbals I think given that it took me a few hours to get all the canards roughly in the same exact spot, I don't think that it is worth going further with it either, took ages to get off the ground, but I suppose it still works, though I do think a smaller one could be stable if I lowered it to around 6 containers per row.
  4. I will try, and I hope to see what amazing infiglider you can make to get to 3 mil, best of luck to you.
  5. I realized that adding more kerbals in pods adds to weight, and by making a system that can can it's own weight and then mirroring it seems to be working quite well, it just isn't stable in flight, so I plan on making a very light carrier that can carry tons of times it's own weight, and then strap tons of pods to it. With my plane design with the wings covered in kerbals it was quite light in the end, but very laggy on the eva'd kerbals, although the empty plane ran fine a nice 350~ parts, so I made the one with many command pods out of necessity for a lag free craft, the extra weight was just a bonus, and I do plan on making something stupidly big and fast, as in command pods I don't have to worry of flying careful and having them fall out of their seats. I'm going to edit and show progress below this until I finish my new design
  6. Just dropping by to say something, I have managed to get a 200+ ton craft to be an infiglider, though it took around 320 control surfaces, both of you are in the clear in that regard for it so I don't see the issue, if you decide to hold tight to what you know to be true then if anyone were to be an idiot then you don't need to bash them, if they don't know what they are talking about then everyone with common sense will know that they are spitting out bs, Just don't worry about it and focus on making more massive and amazing ssto's. All of them are quite amazing and way out of the realm of possibility of what I have the attention span to make, so hats off to you all xD
  7. Turns out when you stuff 272 kerbals in one spot, if you tip the slightest bit off the runway, they kinda explode into one another and just fall apart into ragdoll mode, and when you have 270+ kerbals in ragdoll on a moving plane, it tends to break computers, I wish I could have done it though Although, This design here is expandable, I can fit more and more on the back as each section can lift itself and a little more, so if I /really/ felt like it, I could run it at around 1 fps and takeoff with even more than this
  8. 25.2 m/s 210.15 T 96 Kerbals 25.2*210.15*(96+1) = 513690.66 to top my previous score And for the proof: Speed: in air right after the upper wings ripped off and it's about to split in half, it's not really stable xD Weight: info screen while on the runway Kerbals: 3x4 for each column, 8 columns , so 96 kerbals total Taken from the suggestion before to keep the kerbals in command pods, sadly my wing made of kerbals didn't get to fly, I lagged out sadly, so I made this that still caused me to change textures down to low being it's over 600 parts, I did manage to barely fly it at around 12 fps, with a take off taking up a good 5 mins to slide off the edge of the runway.
  9. They are all facing sideways, make no difference to me
  10. /really/ hard to move something that massive at any reasonable speed, I tired to make something huge but It wouldn't fly xD
  11. huehuehuehue, 272, there is another flap of 16 hanging in the back Although I did fill it up and I was running at around 4 fps, so I cut the top off so now it's just 144
  12. Just a taste of things to come, currently trying to fill it up on the runway
  13. I do have a question though, for the speed bit, do all the kerbals have to remain on it for your max speed? as I am running into a bit of an issue after the 120~ mark for kerbals, where once I get past around 200 m/s they all just kinda warp off of it and shotgun outwards, here's a picture of the aftermath of one small bit of the sky, though most just pop into smoke randomly, so these are the (un)lucky survivors:
  14. I think it is time to make that 72 kerbal bus, Maybe we can start a colony mission at this rate, if each kerbal pack was able to push it I wonder if anyone could ever make an orbit with their planes as they shoot out of the atmosphere I really hope that this challenge gets into make massive kerbal buses infigliding into space, because that would just be awesome xD
  15. I don't know how: 420.1*5.72*12 = 1,648,046.4 for searlefm 420.1*5.72*12 = 28,835.664 Regardless, Evermore Kerbals it is, 32 to be exact... 304 m/s 7.38 T 32 Kerbals 304*7.38*(32+1) = 74,036.16 for my score And for the proof: Speed: end of flight after a horrible explosion Weight: info screen while on the runway Kerbals: It's called the Ker-buss for a reason, took around 20 mins to fill up I hope that someone makes something insane to top this xD And if you want more screenshots I'd be glad to show more, it is a pain to fly but it's so fun trying to handle it
