  1. I think the 2m parts deal started with nova\'s parts pack. Then later sundaypunch jumped on the band wagon and didn\'t even bother to match the standard already in place.
  2. The orbital periods of the two parts are different because no matter how much you try with this instrumentation you can never get the part to jettison exactly on the horizon/normal +/-. Which means the epoch will fall out of sync over time. On a note, I don\'t really think this can be called rendezvous. Real orbital rendezvous usually means having one passive orbiting object and another active one trying to get to it. This has them both being passive and just meeting up at the intersecting node.
  3. The old Atlas missiles use \'balloon\' tanks, meaning the design deliberately leaves out most structural support and depends on the tank being pressurized to hold up its weight. This isn\'t an example of behavior for large tanks in general, quite the opposite in fact. The massive external tank on the shuttle stack supported the entire weight of the orbiter when on the pad.
  4. This should needs to be the default parts pack for KSP. It\'s so much better
  5. It\'s all a conspiracy, Russia is just the global codename for NASA
  6. Some addon ships support refueling. But if you\'re rocking the DG then the only way is through the scenario editor module. Enable it on the launch screen, go to your saved game on the ISS. Press CTRL+F4, find your ship in the list, and go to the propellant screen. PS going to the moon from the ISS isn\'t a very good idea, it requires a HUGE plane change burn. You might be able to do an off plane transfer, but your window would be very small
  7. Wait is that what people really think solar panels do?
  8. Are those... fans? Regardless keep up the good work, looking foward to this!
  9. Then you said it wrong Then you should have made your statements more clear. Clever use Lagrangian points allow you to escape a gravity well (or damn close to it) without reaching escape velocity. Horseshoe orbits have dramatic altitude changes with no other forces than gravity at work. Aerobraking is not powered.
  10. True for Kerbin at least, not so much for any real body. And from solar pressure, and from non spherical gravity sources (see above), and the moon. Their planes are also bumped around by earths lumpy gravity. This can be taken advantage of for special orbits such as a sun synchronous orbit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagrangian_point http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_orbit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_energy_transfers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerobraking
  11. http://www.kerbalspacerepository.com/2011/08/01/radial-stack-decoupler/ A lot simpler than this too...
  12. Screwed around with Perl for a year or two. Made a few hilarious IRC bots with it. Been animating in 3d for about 7 years now, pretty good at it. Also mucked around with level design, texture art, and modeling.
  13. The hubble telescope would have been taken back to earth with a shuttle, so that we could marvel in all its glory at a museum at the end of its service life. Now all that awaits it is a rendezvous with the atmosphere

    cool games

Warzone2100, a real time 3D strategy game. 100% open source and available on nearly any OS you can think of. This is a full game, with an extensive single player campaign and fully integrated multiplayer. Been playing this for 10+ years now, never gets old. It was one of the first 3D RTS games of its time, and has a very unique style of gameplay. Rather than have a limited number of pre-configured units and support structures. Warzone instead starts the player out with next to nothing, and the only way to advance is through research of technology. The game puts a lot of emphasis on artillery, air support, and unit design. Design your tanks and aircraft as you see fit in real time, choose the weapons, armour, and propulsion to fight your way to victory. Orbiter Space Flight Simulator, a space flight simulator. Similar to KSP, but at a much more serious and in depth level. Takes place in the solar system rather than a fictional planet. Love this game. While KSP takes a more relaxed and arcade like approach to space flight, Orbiter does the opposite. It\'s numerous navigation tools and movement modes will quickly overwhelm any new player hoping to jump into the cockpit and press the gas button to go into orbit. If KSP doesn\'t fit your space flight bill, definitely give this one a shot.
