Help me Get Microsoft Space Simulator working on DOSbox
stargazer1235 replied to stargazer1235's topic in The Lounge
Hey guys I see that I got 115 views but only 1 reply. Don't sweat, if I was in you chair, I wouldn't know what it was anyway. Anyway the point is that I found a file that configured the game to run on Windows 7 so I don't need DOSbox anymore. Thanks Hawkinator for your help. Ok Mods you can close this now. -
Why KSP's planets have the same gravity as ours
stargazer1235 replied to gutza1's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You must look at this question from a game play stance. If you where to scale the size of planets to their gravity then theoretically speaking, Kerbin would have a lower gravity then our Moon and then the Mun would have the gravity of Gilly. The point is that it would be two easy to do things like getting into orbit or landing if the gravity was scaled with the size of a planet. -
Damm it Jeb, have you been time travelling again?

I doubt that resources will be removed from the features list. It is such a versatile system which would give many things in KSP a meaningful purpose (i.e Space Stations and Bases). It is more likely that resources are not a short term goal but rather a long term goal. Towards the end off or after the completion of career mode.

Hi guys So long story short, I found this game while snooping around the internet. I got some files of the internet but this program needs an DOS emulator to work. I got DOSbox but I couldn't get it to work at all, I went through so many tutorials and stuff but most were filled is computer jargon that I couldn't understand. So here is my current situation. -I have 3 disk .exe files which I have managed to extract the contents from. -I have a setup.exe file as well, and that seems to be the only one that works. -I have a SPACESIM.exe file -And finally I have a SS1.exe file. I have managed to mount this to the drive using DOSbox and get the setup running but no further. When I run the game all I get is a flash then the command prompt. Any help is appreciated. (I don't come from the time of DOS, so a step by step tutorial would be really helpful.) I am currrently using a windows 7, 64 bit laptop which a Radeon graphics. I am currently using DOSbox version 0.74. Thanks

Hi Guys I am having trouble opening up a KMP server, I keep getting this error on the command prompt when I try to open it up. http://imgur.com/uYAt9YI Any suggestions

It looks like a good game, the two things that annoy me about it is that: A) It is quite pricy and expensive (I am looking at the boxed version) and This game only covers the first 15 years of space exploration, these guys are making a separate game 2 and game 3 to fill in the Shuttle Missions and future exploration. You will have to pay for that on top of this. P.S This really shouldn't be here under 'Suggestions and Development Discussion', might have to be moved.

Sounds like a cool idea, my bet is that the Devs have already taught of this and will bring it in when EVA gets another update. Maybe around the same time that we get payload farrings and stuff.

Fuel transfer "Equalize" button
stargazer1235 replied to megaprime13's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I like this idea. I would make transferring fuel much easier. -
I have gone to the Mun and Minimus as well as Duna and Eve. Haven't done that much exploring of the surrounding systems since late 0.18

Well, it isn't unheard off, especially if you are in time warp and you are distracted or the computer isn't keeping up with physics calculations.

I have been surfing the forums for the last couple of days and seen a lot happen. There is an overly large amount anger and much of it is being vented at the Devs. There are various reasons from the 'Hardcore' gamer not being supported by squad anymore to the lack of content and the arrangement of tech tree and things like development cycles and stuff. I just want everyone to calm down and take a deep breath. There are some valid concerns but venting the anger the hand that feeds you' isn't going to get you guys anywhere. I am not going to propose any solutions to these problems as they are my opinions and my opinion isn't shared by everyone but be nice to the mods and developers. I will leave you with a Indian Proverb: "If things aren' perfect or you are not happy, the journey you are on is not over and it is only over when things get better"

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. Seriously guys, this whole forum post was based around some guy saying that squad wasn't looking after their hardcore fans but he didn't provide any argument what so ever. Now everyone has just come and started to take pot shorts at New players and Squad. I mean seriously, I am quite fine with the tech tree as it stands, remember 'IT IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT'. Now this is the worst I have seen the community in the last months.

The changing face of Squad and KSP
stargazer1235 replied to stargazer1235's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah, that is about what I am asking for, just a note of who is working currently on the KSP project. -
KSP is a maturing game, in a month or so it will be 3 years old, two of those years have been available to the public. It has been six months since the forum blackout and when Damion left the community, now I know that in all that time is expected that people will come and go like Moderators and Devs but I have a recently noticed that there has been some people coming and going without any official annocment from Squad to the community. Novasilisko's account got downgraded to a normal account for many months and just recently Captain Skunky's account got downgraded, all without any annocment. On top of that there are many new faces on the development team as well as the moderation team. Would be kind of nice to know who we should appreciate for making this great game.

I like to disagree with most people on this thread. KSP can be for everyone, I am surprised from all the negative comments on this thread. Sure it takes a degree of patience and sure that most likely appeals to an older crowd but it doesn't mean a teenager can't just pick up this game and play it. KSP is just as much about the game play as it is the themes expressed in the game, if your interested into space and science, then this game might appeal to you, no matter what age. Unfortunately I will have to agree with some of the comments above, science and space in general ain't really focused on by schools meaning the interest level isn't there. I like slow moving games and hate FPS games. For example I like Civ IV/V, TOM, Endless Space, Democracy, Europa Universalis and the list goes on.

I have just saw a potentially great space game on steam. It is called Take on Mars, in which you take control of mars rover opportunities at the JPL. You can construct rovers from scratch and recreate famous historic mars missions. You also have the ability to study the soil and the rocks on the terrain. The game is suppose to release next month on steam but no exact ETA yet. Check out more at: http://store.steampowered.com/app/244030/

Guys, keep it down, you might be giving EA ideas. Anyway if EA bought out Squad as a company, within one week the whole system would have been transferred over to origin. People on the Web and steam would be left high and dry. The mods, QA testers and media group as well as the twitch channels will be disassembled and taken down to be replaced with their own set of mods. Online DRM, DLC, sequels would follow. The devs would be worked to the bone and all communication between them and the outside world will disappear then after 3 months they are fired and the game handed over to one of EA's other studios. A couple of die hard fans will rebel and try to create a KSP parody on kickstarter and now we are back at square 1. I would never touch another computer game if KSP is sold to EA under our feet.

Would Laythe be capable of sustaining Kerbal (or human) life?
stargazer1235 replied to Burke112's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Laythe could possible handle some life, but it wouldn't be any better then colonozing Mars. Laythe most likely has its own magnetic field or the atmosphere would have deterioated but the radiation from Jool would still seep in. I guess kerbals or humans might be able to live inside dome cities and by the way we are all basing this on humans, what if kerbals have a higher tolorence to radiation and the water on Laythe. -
I am glad you got a legit version of KSP, Scrop. Mind you it is not very good to mention piracy on this forum but I guess you are an exception as you brought the full version and supported the Devs. Congrats

What to do When stuck in orbit around Mun
stargazer1235 replied to a topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You could always point retro-grade and burn you self down onto the surface without Mechjeb but you know your choice. You could also send a rescue mission or just go home if that is what you want. -
Soviet point of view on American manned lunar lading
stargazer1235 replied to Pawelk198604's topic in The Lounge
I doubt you will find any articles on the moon landing from a soviet point of view, this is because in the 60s the soviets were really conservative and didn't really allow outside stuff in, so most people in the Soviet Union wouldn't have known of the moon landing had happened and I guess the government would have also censored it since it glorified the US and made the Soviets the losers in the race. So no would be my answer. -
Can amyone remeber the name of the offical KSP eve online cooperatio. Damion posted it before the it was lost in the great forum blackout.
