  1. Eh, the problem with cart.dll is my limited knowledge of C++ coupled with the fact that it isn't my work, and this practically means I can't really adapt it anyway as I lack sufficient knowledge of all of its parameters. I program Lua just find and find it hard to use other peoples work because it simply isn't mine and I have no idea how to use it to its full extent. Owell. I'll surely make the body compatible with the provided rover wheels, and then attempt to make the TriStar wheels and use the DevKit to make it work lacking the articulation.
  2. OH GOD THAT LOOKS COOL! Too bad its outside of my abilities as I have no idea how to adapt cart.dll to this thing. What I could do is build it without the wheels, and recommend everyone to go get TT Modular Multiwheels. Does it have to retain the weapons or can I make it a bit more peaceful? Looks awesome for a Rover to any planet really. Adding this one to my list.
  3. So basically all of the 20+ parts under the capsule condensed into one? Sounds good, I assume your size constraint of 250cm X 250cm is meant to fit the 3man stock pod?
  4. Interesting idea, I'm already thinking about an inline-capsule which is 1M topside and 1M bottomside as its theoretically a regular decoupler.. hmm... I'll think about it, how many dudes should be in it?
  5. The real question is, how much energy is consumed in the condensing to the proposed infinitesimally small size before the acceleration phase, and then later on how is the mass brought to a relatively close to 0 velocity, considering that right now you're launching something tiny at 80% of c into space, and later it turns massive again, this merely ups your Delta-V and T:W Ratio, but it describes no decelerating system. I don't mean to point out tons of flaws, but these are the most eye-piercing to me.
  6. If your creative and mechanically minded, then have a look at TT's Modular Wheels Plugin, this plugin powered addon gives you tons of truck wheels to play around with. Its in the spaceport @ http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/modular-multiwheels-and-omniwheels/
  7. I am fairly good with blender, suck terribly at paint.net, but am encouraged to make some really KERBAL parts. The big question is, what should I do first? I'm mainly looking at reducing parts and retaining stats (IE: Making a battery pack the size of the FLT-200 with 2000 power, that's saving 4 parts!), but also using Duck Tape and Elastic Cables to hold things together. Anyone interested? -> Comment: I started this thread 4 days ago now, and I see it being a great success, while I love the ideas flowing in, its time for me to focus on the execution of all (or hopefully 90%) of these ideas, so while I would enjoy creativity, the idea flow needs to chill out for a bit. Read the lists below before you suggest anything, to prevent doubles. STATUS: So I've been Blender 3D modeling things off the list below as well as things that simply crossed my mind: Top: Wing with 2 1-meter attachment ports. Bottom: Habitat/Trunked capsule, 2-meter spiked Nuclear engine (it has a 3rd fuel) Top: 1-meter capsule service module, preliminary Landmaster rover. Bottom: preliminary Dream Chaser Left to right: 2-meter battery pack, radial VASIMR engine So thats the current state of things, it took me a good 2 hours to model the Dream Chaser into its current form, nearly every Vertix is hand-placed. So far I've collected these ideas (no specific priority): Auxiliary Power Units. (me! ). All-In-One Return Capsule. (EndlessWaves) All-In-One Capsule Logistics Package. (I Got BCed) The Coolest Rover Ever. (UltraVires) V12 Car Batteries and a V24 Truck Battery. DreamChaser and possibly SLS. (Skeligandrew) Solar Sails and possibly a "hacked" Orion Plate. (ialdabaoth) Biodomes! (ialdabaoth) Plasma Thrusters. (Technical Ben) Asking for tons of permissions in order to get loosely articulated wheels for the Landmaster. (my job) Saturn V analog. (Panichio) Airbags. (iDan122 + Camacha) Super Ion Thruster. (czokletmuss) Habitat Capsule. (Moon Goddess) Massive Habitat Module. (Cooly568) Enginia. (swiftgates24) //Would be nice to discover how to put this into a spoiler as this is a self-reference, owell: Motorcycle engine running on monopropellant. 6 Cylinder salvaged car engine running on bipropellant. Simplified Gemini-Esque Capsule (RCS Ports, RCS Fuel, Electric Charge, ASAS) 1 dude version / possibly 3 dude version Simplified Mission Support Module (RCS Ports, RCS Fuel, Bipropellant, Electric Charge, ASAS, SAS) 1M + 2M versions. Landmaster Rover "4X4" 4 wheel pods, electric, space for 6. Landmaster Rover II "8X8" 8 wheel pods, Tatra 813 Style, electric, space for 9. 12 Volt car battery with duct tape (Electric Charge, slightly heavier than stock 100 pack, holds 150 charge) 24 Volt truck battery with Jeb Glue (Electric Charge, stock 500 pack esque, but dirty and streetside, 450 charge + lighter) Dream Chaser Pod (7 Kerbals into this thing + possibly internals) Dream Chaser Parachutes (drogue, runway brake, abort chute) SLS Parts (wikipedia research then execution) Ugly Rectangular Sail (extend button + throttle, maxPower 0.25 Isp = 2900) [___________]-- Sexy Circular Sail (unfold button + throttle, maxPower 0.50 Isp = ~3500) O Orion Plate (heatshield-ified version, possibly a functional version if coded) NUCLEAR BOOM ... O--ROCKET -> refer to page 4 of this thread for mathematical information on the newtons this thing gives you. Biodomes (weed) Plasma Thrusters (Powered by noble gases He or Ar, eats more electricity -> max Power 1.0 Isp ~5500 for .5M, x2 for 1M) Ion Thruster 1M Edition (steal model + upsize + x2 all stats ) Inquire about mumechlib.dll and Landmaster Rover. Research Saturn V analogs and propose structure diagram for heavy launchers. Research Kerbal Airbags. MicroNuclearReactor. x100 RTG @ more weight. Need to find a Kerbal Uranium-235 for this. hmmm, Joolium-235? Plutonium-240? Eeloonium-240? High Isp engines. Research into habitat equipment for the capsule. Design + Ideas for usage of a 2.5M or possibly 3.75M diameter (at least 10M in length) massive habitat. Research into Jeb + Ducktape + Crane + Steel + BUILDING ROCKET ENGINES for DUMMIES book. //End self reference.
  8. Its pretty simple, export the part as a .dae (COLLADA) file and the rest isn\'t really connected to the modelling program at all anymore. The rest is the config file and texturing, for which tutorials already exist.
  9. Hallo und willkommen! Ich spreche auch deutsch, als Österreicher. Anyways, I\'m more than sure that there will be some sort of prepaid cards that KSP will accept.
  10. Hurr, I was thinking of the overwing tanks because of the movie Armageddon where they go to that asteroid with the Shuttle 2. Hmmm, me thinks I have to do some not too feature stealing thinking..... I hope I get Blender working tonight to get the shuttle body done, I thought I\'ll do it progressively: -Clumsy Kerbal Rockets -Sleeker (still kerbal) Rockets -Apollo like Capsule -Space Shuttle -Larger Shuttles (the space cruise thing NASA made, it looks like the JAXA one, but its fatter) -Sleek Spaceships Somewhere in there Mun probes and stuff like dat. With persistence we can visit dumped probes and artificial sats.
  11. Niiiiice, I like this and the Shuttles certainly, I wanted to make one, but now.... Meh, I might make the Shuttle Humanas Peregrinatores (hope thats right Latin, means Human Traveler) after all, I believe we need more, but I\'m afraid of an oversupply and hence it will remain unused...
  12. Just remember, Jeb is into rocket piloting, Bill doesn\'t care and smiles when the engine activity stops and Bob only smiles when he is back on Kerbin, the rest of the time he is sitting in there screaming the other guys\' ears out.
  13. Hey and welcome! About your rocket: Gratz! My first attempts back in August looked like this: LIFT OFF!!!!!!!! 5000m YAY SO FAR... 6666m *engine goes trollfaic, no fuel* BOOM. Btw, just a hint: if you slow down 30ms per atmospheric pass, it will increase with every pass because: You are slower, hence your pass is deeper in the atmosphere, which triggers factor 2, more drag. Watch out for those things because if you want an orbit with no piloting you\'ll want at least 80km altitude on your lowest pass!
  14. Blender isn\'t that bad, its just that one becomes more advanced with it just by using it. Eventually you\'ll wander away from simple mesh extrusions to modifiers and such.
  15. Well, the Intrepid Parts Pack which I love has very high detail level so I figured, if that runs fine on my computer, I could give myself some leeway on the Polygons. I\'m confident that the Command Module will have the most however, due to the fact that it has to be a bridge like thing. Currently I can convert to .dae fine, I check models with Blender to UV Map and see that something always has to dispatch itself from the main module. The .dea form is the only one I can export to with GSketch... Hurr, I\'m in a tincan this time, I guess that I may (after these parts are out) start to learn and try around with Blender, possibly Caligari trueSpace. My only real conflict with modeling programs other than Google Sketchup is because I haven\'t figured out how to work hands on with them and they have excessive amounts of animation software which I don\'t require at all.
  16. My full support goes here because after I saw the Anti SOPA/PIPA banner on the home page, I thought up a theory of how this game was born: One day, HarvesteR and his buddies were hanging out in HarvestoR\'s place derping around on the internet. One of them finds a picture of a rocket and says 'damn, we should make our own rocket game'. Hence, after thinking up the name of the Species of Accident Prone Green Men known as Kerbalkind, KSP was born.
  17. Well, seeing that I was a bit provoked yesterday, my response may have hit a bit too hard. But, I know what your saying, with text its hard to interpret the emotion behind the statement correctly. I do apologize if I seemed too hostile, and I have to agree, it is a bit off putting to have start ups in a section full of released parts etc. Despite that, I hope that you are tracking the progress I am making via the screenies I post, one could say its not exponential, but I like working on Google Sketchup so..uh..yeah. I will make my own design-compliant boosters/rigs/ASAS etc because I don\'t want to just have the base ship done.
  18. Peculiar, are you trolling me? MASA parts pack doesn\'t have anything to release yet and I don\'t see you being such a standardized person in there. What the hell is going on in your mind? I see I see, but whatever, its Collada format, and GSketch does that, I just need Blender to normalize and pick nodes, nothing else.
  19. But no private person has money for something like that.
  20. I still have my Kerbal 0.8 folder with all these yummy parts. I will never delete that folder.
  21. I love Universe Sandbox, its so much fun to play with gigantic cosmic objects.
  22. I love that game, and if you looked at the Traveler I, you would notice that it looks like a corrected Tokyo (with the fuselage in the center instead of taped onto a flying saucer). The only real challenge is getting off of Kerbin, but now that fuel doesn\'t play a game (after all, Jeb found the secret...) its just piloting a bit of cunning, hehe.
