This is exactly what I want, but more than that, I want it to be a stock option. It's just not as much fun to put up a post saying "Hey guys! Check out what I just did!" when you aren't using the same set of parts as everybody else. Hauling monopropellant around in Jumbo-64 tanks would be fun too.

I was hoping to be able to fill 2.5m tanks with xenon. I guess we won't be getting that in 0.23 Ok, granted it would give me a craft with about the same thrust-to-weight ratio as a flashlight, but it still would have been cool.

The Wrong Brothers - career mode done differently (pic heavy)
geb replied to katateochi's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
It's a nice touch having kerbals so completely dedicated to the runway that they'll try a horizontal takeoff on the Mun. -
The launchpad or the runway are the absolute worst places for a base. If you put a permanent station there, you can't launch without deleting it. Difficulty level zero. Inconvenience level infinite.
-
Updated models for the spaceplane parts. Seriously, the Mk.3 spaceplane cockpit is embarassing, and the fuselage segments that go with it could look so much nicer. Removing old parts to replace them would break saves, so I understand why this has been ignored for a long time, but it'll have to happen sometime.

Over an hour of game time. I think about 17 minutes of 4x phys warp. It accelerated faster than the LV-N powered monstrosity that I used to haul the lander down to Moho in the first place.
-
I ran a manned mission to Moho yesterday, and used this as upper stage on the return vehicle: Over 5000m/s delta-V in a package light enough for a single LV-909 to lift from Moho's surface. Ion engines are useful.

I accidentally smeared my Jeb over the side of a mountain while trying to get surface samples of the mountains near KSC. He respawned a few hours later. I turned on permadeath, and crashed him again. I do not permit zombies in my space program. I try hard to keep my kerbals alive, but when they die, I make sure they stay dead.

We're not paying them to write community updates. The dev blogs and KSP weekly are more like advertising than a professional service to the community. If they want to promote their game a day or two late, we've got no reason to complain.

We've all seen the Hellkraken, if only in screenshots. Something slips out of place. The universe disappears. Your craft disappears. All that is left is the altimeter scrolling 666666... I was always told that if this happened, your savefile was doomed, so when my Duna mission glitched yesterday I thought my entire career mode save was gone. But after restarting the game and loading the save, everything was still there except for that one glitchy ship, neatly deleted from space. Is this recovery feature new to 0.22, or have I just not noticed until now?

In my opinion you can't beat Eve. It's easy to get to, easy to land on, and the gravity is high enough to get you good grip. Make sure to bring high torque wheels for climbing hills in that gravity!

Career Mode to Jool! Post your attempts here!
geb replied to Starwhip's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I launched this thing about halfway through my career mode. I had already visited Ike and Gilly with some simpler ships, so I decided Jool deserved something a bit more grand. -
More bang for your buck - What would you like next for KSP?
geb replied to Kerbonautical's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I like the way that almost every entry on the planned features list now has a citation needed tag on it. I don't think we should be trusting it as 100% accurate. -
More bang for your buck - What would you like next for KSP?

Now that we have a tech tree, I think the question of life support can be brought up again. I would like to see limited life support in some of the early game pods, and then you start to unlock consumable life support packs for missions lasting months, or years, until eventually you get a full recycling eternal life support system that just needs electricity. -
What do you think of the new Communotron 88-88 design?
geb replied to SuperWeegee4000's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The old dish looked as though it would crumple in an instant in atmospheric flight. The new one looks like it could easily take an aerobraking or two when stowed, and is beautiful opened up. -
So, its the 'When will 0.22 come out guessing game' thread
geb replied to Sir_Tramalot's topic in Forum Games!
It will never come out. The devs have spent the last two months creating 48 hours of elaborate fake gameplay videos, all to give the impression that the update exists. Soon they'll run out of faked footage and go quiet, then eventually they'll disappear without ever explaining what happened. -
What do you want to see in .23
geb replied to jmosher65's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Some new, high tech parts would be nice. While the game had sandbox mode only, the devs were trying to keep most of the parts balanced so that we weren't all just using the same engine over and over in every ship. With the tech tree, they can start adding parts that are simply better than the rest, with the only downwide being how difficult it is to unlock them. -
In my "serious" save, I use the name Longbeast Logistics Shipping Company. Choose a purpose for your company, and go with that. Decide whether you want to focus on exploration, research, tourism, transport, communications, mining, glory for the homeland, blowing things up...
-
I don't remember seeing any custom flags made for Rockomax, Probodobodyne, and Jeb's Junkyard, and a search turned up nothing. Has anybody ever made a set?
-
The spaceships are the star of the show in KSP. The planets are cool, but basically just pretty spheres of rock. They're only there to provide a background to your engineering. Design new and more awesome spaceships.
-
Some of the devs have mentioned being fans of Total Annihilation, which used to have a resource building named Moho mines as in very deep mining at the mantle boundary. They'd know about the Mohorovicic discontinuity. I'm pretty sure that is where the name comes from.
-
All my space stations are launched and delivered as a single unit. It means you don't have to mess about with double ports to make parts line up neatly.
-
I put a fuel station in orbit around Moho. It has five orange tanks on one LV-N. I broke up the departure burn into multiple passes at periapsis, so I never had the engine running for more than half an hour at a time, but the full journey took over 7 hours.
-
I've never been creeped out by any of the celestial bodies in KSP, but I did find Jupiter to be terrifying in Orbiter. When you make a close approach to do a capture burn, you know you're not too close, your instruments say you're not too close, but all you see out of the window is an enormous flat plane of beige gas with no visual indicator to say how far away you are... It's very unsettling to see a planet take up your entire field of view when you don't want to hit it.
