  1. This is like one of those crazy kerbal things... like the little probes that have lots of flaps along the body that can get into orbit in like 10 seconds... hahahahaha xD
  2. I figured something out today. I've been building SSTO's where the fuel tanks are as close to the middle of the craft as possible so when the fuel drains the weight doesn't shift too much making the aircraft balanced like it was when full. This is the thing I learned... if you have a fuel tank at the front of the craft, and a fuel tank in the rear of the craft, then having the front fuel tank feed the engines on the left of the craft, and the rear fuel tank feeding the engines on the right of the craft.. the drain will be even front and back in turn not making weight shift as it drains. If you take this design principal it means you can have space in the middle of the craft for taking things as cargo. : D
  3. Have a good look through the SSTO thread... you might find some designs that will help you in you're endeavor of long range SSTO. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/33312-Showcase-SSTO-s!-Post-your-pictures-here
  4. Very nice.. Opening doors is something I am also working on. : > it is hard.
  5. I'm not sure I understand how this works so I am going to download it and try it myself... (*´_ã‚Âï½€) *edit* WTF THIS IS ANTIGRAVITY.................
  6. You're new video was very good.. I enjoyed it very much.
  7. How will you land with only 20 units of liquid fuel? xD
  8. Ohh that's right.. He has the cargo one.. I'll have to dissect it.
  9. Still trying to figure out how to make hinged doors xD I want to make an SSTO that can open up it's belly and have things inside it.
  10. Ohh.. You can actually do this too.. it's like flinging yourself out of atmosphere, but.. it's very hard to do that, you need to be going so so very very fast.. faster than what I've been able to do in atmo. I think you are misunderstanding what I mean by circularize "in atmosphere"... I mean "getting the speed" from the Air breathing turbo jets, then punching yourself out of atmo with rockets, which saves you A LOT of fuel. Instead of getting close to leaving atmo then getting the speed needed mostly by the rockets. This is why I have started using only turbo jets + nuclear rockets in my newest builds : D
  11. These are screenshots of SSTO Type 22 Ghost.. I never released this aircraft due to some problems with re-entry on empty tanks, but it is very fast and can circularize in atmosphere. I flew this to Duna and crashed on it *wipes tear from eye* ** Damn... this is the wrong image set.. I cant find the correct one : T
  12. Yes you can actually circularize in atmosphere.. myself and a few others have done it. But, if the engines lose power while in atmo, you will lose circularization of course... The main reason for doing this is the transition from atmo to orbit becomes very easy.
  13. Good stuff Captain Sierra~ -------- Now a good challenge to any SSTO builder is to create an aircraft that can Circularize an orbit using only Turbojet Engines. If you can do this, then you're SSTO is very good.
  14. I did a little thingie like you to show how I would do it.. the blue lines being fuel lines. realized you had rockets at the tail... didn't realize that before xD
  15. Are you throttling back as you get closer to running out of air intake? as long as you are still accelerating while throttled back when you are on the verge of running out of air then all is good, as long as you are accelerating + going up, it should be able to keep going at high altitude on just turbojets. Throttling back of course makes the engines consume less air intake, which means you can run them for longer without them running out of air intake because they are consuming less of what you are providing them.
  16. If you aren't going to have more air intake.. it will need more lift.. or, make it lighter. If you are going to make a very high flying aircraft you really do need lots of air intake. Or you could just rely on the new Rapier engines, they seem to cut out with very little air intake, so you can go quite high before they switch to rocket mode without needing high air intake. the only downside is that they aren't as powerful in air breathing mode as the turbo jets.
  17. Mmmmm... Try having the rear fuel/body part leading one fuel line in the center under the spine to the front one, then as you have now leave the two bleeding off left and right from the front fuel tank/body part. Then for the outer two tanks closest to the body, have one fuel line going from outer to inner, and then another next to it going inner to outer.. then for that outer most engine leave it as it is already... This should if my understanding is correct, have both sides drain evenly, which is what you want. any fuel lines I did not mention.. Remove them. Currently you have a sort of circular fuel flow which is what is making the fuel draining strange. You can test fuel drain on the runway, just load up the craft without wings maybe, turn the brakes on, turn engines on, maybe not full speed but on so the fuel is draining and watch how it drains by clicking on the tanks.
  18. Show the fuel layout and fuel lines Captain Sierra, You can post build images.. they don't need to be flying images. Maybe myself or someone else can give you some pointers if you do that.
