  1. I think the original kerbtown plugin allowed you to attach things to static objects via KAS and pull resources out of them, but I have no idea if docking ports would work since the config files define static objects and not parts.
  2. I would have loved to do some of that in high school. Unfortunately my high school was focused on a more "Classical" education (making it more of a liberal arts high school). I took my only engineering course in my junior year because we couldn't retain an engineering teacher for some reason...
  3. As has been said before, Aerospace Engineering is the education you'd want. Other fields of engineering or even physics use a lot of the same principles, but Aerospace is specialized for work on rockets (i.e. launch systems), spacecraft (i.e. the payloads), and aircraft (which are self-explanatory). Engineering in general requires a lot of math, especially calculus, a decent knowledge of programming for use in simulations and whatnot, and skills with CAD software. There may be variations depending on which discipline you're going into, of course. I don't know a lot more than that since I've only just started working towards my BS in Aerospace (plus a BA in Natural Sciences) but that's my understanding of it. On a side note, I find it funny that I'm going into engineering considering my already-present skills with computers. I could be a computer science major but that's no fun compared to the 5+ years I'm looking at for my dual degrees. On the subject of engineering as "science," I see it as a "practical science" while quantum mechanics is more of a "theoretical science." Practical sciences have direct applications to our everyday lives and lots of helpful things come out of research into the practical fields (things like Medicine, Engineering, Computer Science). Theoretical sciences involve things that are not directly applied to improving life but improve our understanding of how the universe works (like quantum mechanics, string theory, theory of evolution). I put more stock into practical sciences personally because they're fairly static and utilize principles that we are confident in, while theoretical sciences are dynamic until we can definitively prove that a theory is the truth.
  4. Probably the easiest way is via experimentation. Building launchers takes time any way you look at it, so going straight to the experimental phase and designing/testing (at least in KSP) is easier and a bit quicker than doing all the math and then designing/testing. You can certainly do the math, but depending on which direction your solution takes it can be either nice and simple or incredibly complex. I would definitely check out Pecan's stuff (above) and see how that works for you.
  5. I'll be trying this out ASAP and then I'll get you your rep, medsouz! This looks fantastic!
  6. Very simply, Newton's Third Law. Here's a relevant image from NASA explaining it: There's a lot more science behind it of course but that's the simplest explanation of how an engine works. I'm not educated on the other things yet, maybe ask me again in a few years.
  7. Star Wars and Star Trek might have their differences, but this fellow is more than willing to point out the most obvious and important similarity:
  8. I probably could, I just don't have a lot of time these days. 18 credit hours is insane.
  9. I don't think that's your decision to make
  10. Doesn't matter, hit 100 pages! (NOT! Darn it!) ARE YOU HAPPY NOW???
  11. Earth is one piece of interstellar debris that you won't be deflecting any time soon.
  12. Here's the Blender manual on Material Slots: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Materials/Multiple_Materials Basically what you're seeing is some parts of your mesh are assigned to a second material slot, so without that second material those faces won't render. I ran into this problem a while ago but it's easy to fix.
  13. I don't want to overstep my bounds here, but I believe that Phase 4 will be the final update, at least for a while. I can talk to Helldiver on Skype to see if I can get him to provide some sort of status update in the next couple of days.
  14. Whoa... But seriously, what's up with the quote from Person X? Who is this Person X anyway? Is he somehow related to [REDACTED] in 0.25? Edit: inb4 edits and closure
  15. It's dangerous to go alone. Take this. Can we reach 100 pages today?
  16. Not sure what you mean... have a Thunder Stone: No need to try and evolve your Eevee with it, it's totally defective. I wish I had a lot of Thunder Stones
  17. Programming while that drunk may have some unforeseen consequences... I have both too many reaction gifs/images and too few reaction gifs/images. For the occasions where I don't need them, I have an excess. For occasions where I need a particular one, it's nowhere to be found.
  18. Can't run anything after Captain Falcons get their hands on your computer.
  19. With the way fuel flow is set up, you have to transfer resources between tanks manually. However, there is a mod that allows for intelligent fuel transfer and balancing called "TAC Fuel Balancer." It should be able to do what you want.
  20. Maybe, I've noticed that people who have "#0" or something along those lines have their albums messed up on the forums, so make sure you don't have that in your tags. If it still persists, you can let the forum people know here.
