On my mark.

I installed remotetech and now I found a new challenge of setting up a satellite network. It isn't going well, but I am having a blast. I learn a little more each time. It's great with limited parts in career mode

Setting up a Geocycronous Orbit with Remote Tech

Ah. I guess I could do that. It will be interesting to build a craft that will deploy satellites. Thanks for the help. -
Setting up a Geocycronous Orbit with Remote Tech

Great, that helps a lot. First satellite is a bitch... I thought going vertical the whole was was wasteful, but I didn't know best how to keep LoS with KSC. -
Setting up a Geocycronous Orbit with Remote Tech
toomuchbrew posted a topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Greetings, I was wondering what the most efficient way to set a satellite in GEO with Remote Tech is. Do I just burn vertical until I get about 100km apoapsis and then burn horizontal to get an orbit and then burn to make the apoapsis on the opposite side of the planet to about 2800km and then wait until the KSC is under the new apoapsis and make the periapsis 2800km? Seems like it uses a lot of fuel. Remote tech makes it tough which is what I've wanted. Am I going about it correctly? -
Forget them sometimes. The most boneheaded move for me was sending a Lander to Duna and realizing I put the landing legs on upside down. Still worked tho...

I've had Kerbals bounce off capsule at the instant they start their EVA. It happened again a bunch of times. What appears to have happened was there was an antenna sticking out. Make sure there's nothing near the hatch.

ah. I did some research. I was thinking gamma, uva and uv be. I should have been thinking types of thermal radiation like ir. It's interesting that other than Uranus, our gas giants emit more energy then they receive from the sun. I guess Uranus is a deep dark place indeed.

I really had no idea gas giants emit radiation. This is interesting. I am running to wiki

Maybe I'm just still too inexperienced, but...

I had the same rush when I first got an orbit. When I made my first 5 unaided docks (took a long time). Also first Mun landing. Etc. It's a mile stone game. Each accomplishment is better than the last. -
Think about this... when they add an economy, all those large lifters and transfer stages won't be so appealing when your budget is limited.

Shuttles completely escape me...

Yea. This is one I tried to tackle when I first started KSP. I haven't attempted it since. You'd need to get the CoM and CoT right for the first 80% of the ascent. You need well placed control surfaces, engines with a based vectored thrust and then it is possible. I imagine you would need closer to 5k dV due to drag and steering losses. Check you tube. I know someone had done it. -
Yep. I use power director. If I have multipart vids or large ones, I will edit them together while I wait to do all my final editing. Sometimes, I don't get top producing videos for a month and end up with a ton of raw footage
-
I have a 1tb hdd and I fill it regularly and have to dump my raw footage one I know I am done with it. It just makes me have to edit more frequently. Which is good in my case. Gives me a push. I edit while Mechjeb puts me in space.

I like this idea and I think Atwood Squad is making a science lab module for .23. In the meantime, there is the interstellar mod. I haven't got the science to work yet tho. I Am orbiting minmus for .3 science per day but it isn't adding to science pool

I landed on Duna after a long transfer window delay. I took my orbiter/lander into an orbit. I decoupled. I then transferred my Kerbal to the lander and began my deorbit burn. Once I was well on my way, I lowered my landing legs. It was only then, I realized that I put them on upside down. It still worked as intended but WTH...

Fraps is what I use. High resolution, but it comes at a price. The files are HUGE. Bandicam is excellent too. Both are relatively inexpensive. I prefer Fraps though.

What's your "YES!" moment when you research a part in career?
toomuchbrew replied to Sesni's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I would have to say docking ports. It opens up space gas stations allowing more complex interplanetary missions.
