How do I get this thing on the Mun?
rryy replied to Hero's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
In the VAB, place a radial decoupler (preferably the structural pylon if you don't want to leave the decoupler "remains") over the center of mass of the module. Then, place an I-beam on top of the decoupler as close to being on top of the CoM as possible. Then, build a skycrane thing on top of it to land it on the Mun, and once the module is safely landed, decouple the skycrane and crash it into the Munar surface. To get the module and skycrane to the Mun, I suggest you flip the craft upside-down so the skycrane is at the bottom. This will just make building the lifter to take it to the Mun easier. -
Well, not really, because the rotation of the Mun is quite fast compared to the rotation of the planets around the sun. And even still, there is a window of opportunity for an escape window. You may need a lot of quicksaves to get the escape burn right, though.

What is that anomaly farthest east on the map? I don't remember seeing that one.

Fixed. And to destroy your puny missile launcher, I bring you an atomic bomb:
-
I don't know what that is, so

What's this guy doing in my Cupola module?! And my space station:

Rainy. Not rainy to you tropical people, but quite rainy for us up here.
-
Of course it can.* *assuming it goes at below 100 m/s
-
1500 m/s should be plentyof delta-v for returning to Kerbin, as long as you use aerobraking in Kerbin's atmosphere.

NORTH KEREA HAS SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPED A NUCLEAR BOMB TO BE DROPPED FROM A PLANE. NAMED ÃŒŒê´´, OR PAGOE (MEANING DESTRUCTION*), IT CAN DESTRO -ER, DEFEND US FROM THE AMERIKAN IMPERIALISTS! Get up to an altitude of 1.5 kilometer. 2. Throttle down to 1/3 throttle and pitch up about 15-20º 3. Press '1' to release the bomb. 4. To correctly detonate in midair, throttle up completely and press '2' when you reach 500 meters (or, of course, you can just let it hit the ground). 5. Quickly switch over to the plane to keep it from going out of range and safely land the pilot. DOWNLOAD *Google Translate was used

Telling people to not do something makes the person want to do that thing. Applies to me.

Just wondering...

You mean get an encounter with Ike that takes you immediately into a stable orbit around Ike? If so, then that is not possible. If you are coming from outside of Ike's SOI, you will always be going at at least escape velocity. However, you can get into a stable orbit around Duna from a solar orbit using a third body, Ike, to give a gravity assist to slow you down into a stable orbit. -
Have Jeb riding a booster flying through the window.
-
Starting from an equatorial, circular, prograde orbit, first, you want to see the latitude of your target, for example 5º south. When you are 90º before passing over your target, you want to burn south so that your inclination is 5º (You can use the Kerbal Engineer Redux or MechJeb to figure out your inclination, or target something already in equatorial orbit). You also want to perform your deorbit burn so that your trajectory lands slightly east of your target. As you are about to pass over your target, begin your burn to kill are surface relative velocity. Then, do your standard landing procedure.

I landed on the Mun by one of the Mun arches with a rover. When I released the rover from the lander, it began sliding because it was on a hill. I put on the brakes, but for some reason, it could not move up the hill with the brakes off, even though it should have the power to do so. Eventually I realized that the motors on the wheels were disabled.
-
Well, they would be at 90º north and south at the poles. Edit: Is this weird terrain what you mean? Taken from the south pole: If so, then the same would apply to most* of the planets and moons in the game. *untested figure

In my current game, which stretched from 0.19.1 to now, I have 1107 screenshots. Including 0.19 and 0.18.4, I have a total of 1652 screenshots. That's not counting the amount I have on my old laptop, too.

Why are more people Right-handed than Left-handed?
rryy replied to ZedNova's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I'm not an expert, but my thinking is that because humans' defining trait is logic and critical thinking, which are controlled by the left side of the brain, people are mostly right handed because the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body. -
THE DPRK'S SPACE PROGRAM, THE KEREAN COMMITTEE OF SPACE TECHNOLOGY, HAS SUCCESSFULLY LANDED THE SEUNGLI DU, HOLDING 3 KERBALS, ON THE MUN. THIS IS THE SECOND TRIUMPHANT LANDING OF THE KCST ON THE MUN. A LARGE ARCH WAS FOUND NEARBY AND WAS DEDICATED TO OUR FIRST DEAR LEADER, KIM IL-SUNG. THE SEUNGLI DU LANDER: THE FLAG: THE PLAQUE: Sorry, I have to type in caps, for the sake of North Kerea.

I didn't really learn from MechJeb, but I remember when 0.18 came out with docking, the first time I tried to dock was a success. Before 0.18, when I tried, I couldn't do it at all, but when I tried it in 0.18, I seemed to understand how to dock easily.

what was the first thing you landed on (not in the kerbin system)
rryy replied to duncan1297's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In order for return missions, it was Duna, Ike, Gilly, Bop, Pol, Vall, and Dres. -
Do you use probe components to de-orbit large booster stages?
rryy replied to Markus Reese's topic in KSP1 Discussion
On my upper stages, I put a remote guidance system so it can deorbit itself after it has delivered its payload.
